Today I loaded my city and I was checking the land value map and there was a red spot. I checked the air pollution in that area and they were as high as they get. That area was undeveloped and no traffic goes through that area. Heres some pictures.

I have just recently built an airport but that is at the top-right corner of the city, too far away from this area, but there isnt any pollution at the airport.

I have planned out this area but I have not developed it yet. There is even a park right next to it.

I am thinking that maybe all the pollution from the airport somehow came all to this one spot.

I hope someone can help me with this.41.gif

Was something there from a prior city that may not have been "erased"? I've had some small spots appear in undeveloped areas, but not as large as yours. I've begun using RAH-WatAir, a pollution reducer found on the STEX that greatly reduces air and water pollution. You may want to try that, or another air cleaner. I have had areas where I've bulldozed dirty industry and coal power plants and the pollution stays around for many game years, but if you've never developed anything there, I don't know what could be causing it. Seems like it came from a serious pollution source, though, from the size and color.

DOXXP29, Nothing except for the roads have been there. I think that the airport has something do do with it because it started doing that after the completion of the airport.

What stuff do you have downloaded? Had you downloaded or removed something right before this happened? Have you tried playing the game for a while and seeing if it goes away?

simzebu, the only thing I have downloaded close to this problem is the RIMP and ACE airport packs. I have played the game to see if it would go away.

DOXXP29, I just tried the RAH-WatAir pollution lowerer and this is what I got after a few months,

    jeffersonmay19501155857217gc3.png

    Nothing has changed.

I am going to delete the airport packs and see if anything changes. If not, im going to have to obliterate my city8.gif

You sure your game isn't on Jupiter.  Looks like a great red spot.

But seriously, since the lot didn't reduce the pollution, have you any idea where it might be coming from.  If you look at this in zone view, is there anything strange about the area?  What does the desireability display show?

Metropolis, how long did it take after installing RAH-Wat-Air before the pollution ccame back? Also, what does the water pollution view look like? Is that same area plagued with water pollution too? If you think it has something to do with the airport, could it be that you've installed some other airports or airport packs from the STEX or another site that could be conflicting? If so, try taking the unused airports out of your plug-ins folder and see what happens. (You may have to demolish your existing airport and place another one.) Infact, have you tried bulldozing your airport to see if the pollution goes away? (It may take quite a few game years) If you do demolish the airport and the pollution does go away, then at least you know that's what's causing it. Strange situation. I hope you can get it resolved. Good luck, and please keep us posted.

Well, I have obliterated my city and began building a new one without any of the airport packs installed and sure enough, just south of the first area, the pollution cirlce came back26.gif UGHH!!!!

Well I guess it is not the airport packs. I went into another city and it didn't come up. So I guess it is the actual city tile I am building on.

I've seen and heard of some truly bizarre occurances in SC4, Metropolis, but yours is definitely high up at the top of the list! I can't conceive of why that should be happening at all after you obliterated your city. Did you try terraforming over the area after you wiped the city out? Maybe that would have an effect. If you ever figure out what caused it, I, for one, would love to know the answer to this one. EDIT: Ya know, I think I remember reading waaaaay back in the forums about a lot, I think a reward - cheat lot or a power plant and that if you ever bulldozed it, there would be eternal pollution. I can't remember what the lot was. I know I don't have it, but I do remember reading about it on one of the sites. Was there anything you bulldozed in that city before the red spot showed up? That might be a start.

If you download an air clearer, namely the "Radical Ordinance" mod, you're weak. Don't cheat. The best thing to do is CTRL+ALT+SHIFT and immediately click god mode and that will get you back to your initial god mode powers without obliterating your city. Now you can add piles of trees, especially around the industrial areas, attacking the stinky smog at its source. By doing that your pollution will drop down to at least orange guaranteed. I actually once got a tree ON the coal power plant and that helped dramatically! Don't plant a tree. They're expensive and take lond to grow.

    Andrew

Now, thumper!  What did your father tell you?  Be nice, and if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all! 35.gif35.gif

And dropping back into full god mode is definitely a cheat.

Something like this just happened to me today. It happened after I bulldozed a park that I downloaded yesterday. I built the park, but it look right (it's a baseball field, and there was no infield, just grass), so I bulldozed it, and it left behind a block of air pollution just like the one in Metropolis' picture. There is also water pollution in the same spot, just as red, but not as spread out.

I built and destroyed the same park in one of my tester cities and got the same result. I tried bulldozing the surrounding area, dezoning, teraforming, and finally rebuilding and re-destroying the park. Nothing has worked so far.

I really don't to scrap the city, or have to ignore that area. The park that caused it is Community Ballpark:  https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=16593

There are two versions, small and large, and this happened with the large one. I don't know if the small one does it, too. I'm providing the name of the park so hopefully someone can figure this out and help save my city, not to flame the lot. I was very excited about having these parks   :-(

I'll keep testing while I wait for replies, and I'll let you know if I can figure anything out. But I'm not too hopeful.

Ok, I tried some things, the results are at this blog with some pictures.

sircanis: You have solved the problem!!!!!! I downloaded that same park and plopped it in my city, Like you, I had no infield or props so I bulldozed it. Then the pollution came. Finally I found out how this happened. But im afraid that there is no way to make the pollution go away. I had to start a new city.

DOXXP29: Well know we know what caused this.

Thank you! Glad you got it narrowed down and sorry it cost you your city. I guess a few BATters thought ti would be a cute idea to put in a "use my lot or suffer the consequences" time bomb. Either that, or they just didn't know what they were doing. Over the years of reading various SC4 site forums, I've heard of situations like this from time to time with varying "consequences". Another reason to download only from the trusted and dedicated BATters and to have a sandbox city to test new lots. Thank you for passing on the info. Good luck in your redevelopment!

DOXXP29, I dont think that the bat this person made was meant to give people consequences because it was only his third bat. He also said that he made the bat so he could have some practice with making a realistic ballfield for Fenway Park that he is developing. So I think it was just an error.

I also sent the creater of the batguitarist4816 a PM and told him about the problem. He replied to me and said he locked the file and will do more testing.

Yes.  One of the problems with user-created content is that people often have no testing experience unless they are programmers.  This can lead to all kinds of funny things.  With a community this large, testing will inevitably be done by the downloaders.  Maybe all new lots should be marked as Beta until they have been proven by multiple downloaders who do not report problems.
