why i cant see the building?? !!!!

hei guys, i play back sim city4 again after a long pause

i download loads of lots at st-exchange, but than only to find out in the game i cant see those buildings, most of them tbh

but what i get is not those brown boxes, i get these :

the 3 buildings tehre are the police administration building, the downtown athelicitc club and downtown highschool

i already downloaded almost 99% of all those dependencies file, and almost all texture or prop file.  i might miss out some, but most mega packs already been downloaded.

who can help me

oh, i forget to mentioned that the last time i play, which is end of last year, i can see all the buildings that i download nicely. and i dont remember i had download as much dependencies file as i did now.

only my dependencies file, those textures and props file are more than 200mb @@

all of the mega packs from BSC and CSX was downloaded, and still many more.

but why i cant see it now !!!! :'(

That is pretty interesting and un-common. It might be a technical error, while there might be a problem with the dpendencies. Make sure you didn't miss any...Not all the textures and props in the world are in the mega pack, and there are several mega packs.

One more thing. I've been around here a long time as a different user. However, people have been here longer than me, and I'm wondering if your problem might already have been answered. If you did not already, please search and see if I'm right.

ya,i know some of the dependencies are not megapacks, thats why i try my best to download all those which are not in a megapacks and download them.

besides, many of the lots i downloaded, it dint say which dependencies are needed,therefore i cant find out which packs i should download :S

It looks like you're missing the main building which is the SC4model file.

The sc4model file is always included in the zip-file if it's a BAT. In your case it's about lot files, right? Then it should be a link to the building in the STEX description, since it's not allowed to include someone else's building in your zip. If it's about Maxis building you should download the Landmark Plugin Prop from simcity.com.

Oh come on, people. This is neither "interesting" nor "uncommon" nor anything. This is just the 10,000th case of someone who downloaded some lots but doesn't have the Buildings as Props downloads from the official EA Homepage.

Once again, these are to be found on the Lot Editor download page, and you must be product registered with your serial number in order to see the links, and yes, you need both - the first pack contains all SC4 Vanilla buildings, the second one all Rush Hour buildings.

It isn't quite as simple as missing the buildings as props files from Maxis, T Wrecks. Those lots were made long ago and probably used the Plugins_xxxx props files made by ralphaelninja before Maxis made theirs. There are a number of lots on the STEX which are calling these too. The ralphaelninja files were withdrawn long ago and no one should keep them, especially when making lots. Any lots that pre date the Maxis buildings as props files and haven't been updated will probably show the same problems. They can be repaired by finding the building used - SC4Tool is useful for that - and replacing them with the same building from the official prop packs.

If they are that old, this might indeed be. However, a dependency scan with SC4Tool should reveal if Ralphaelninja's prop files are required or not, shouldn't it?

In any case, I'd get those official Buildings as Props downloads - you will need them anyway, sooner or later. Those lots that still won't show correctly... well, if it's wort the trouble, they can be repaired according to what Barby explained. I'm not sure if you wouldn't be better off looking for a modern (maybe even BATed) alternative.

Dang, there's some "dangerous" stuff left on the STEX. Maybe the STEX moderators should lock those files?

so i have to download all the landmarks made officialy by MAXIS in order for me to see all those buildings clearly?

samlee860407: no, that won't solve the problem of the old lots.You can't get the files that are needed for these lots now so the only option is to identify the buildings used from the STEX picture by using the database in SC4Tool and then rebuild the lots youself using the buildings as props files from Maxis. The only other option is to dump the lots and try to find a replacement that doesn't need those old files.

Edit: I downloaded and checked the three lots you show in the picture above. All three do only use the buildings as props files from Maxis so those are the ones you need. They are here: bldgprop_vol1-SimCity 4 Building as Props

I would, however, advise you to look for some more recent lots unless you only have the vanilla version of SC4 in which case you only need the vol01 above. There are many lots on the STEX which are better than those with better balanced stats and looks.
