Farms won't grow anymore

Hello everyone.

I have a problem with my farms. When I first started my city the farms grew easily, but lately I destroyed most of them because they were ugly Pedriana Plants and now they won't grow back.
My city is mostly high wealth residential and medium/high wealth commerce with no other industry and a population of 56,000. Will the farms ever grow back or is my only alternative to build ploppable farms?

Thanks for the help

You need to bring back your R$ population... they work at the farms. R$$ and R$$$ will not. Play with your taxes to get them back in, if demand is low. Depending on your Ultimate Plan, you may want to destory some of the higher income brackets (R$$ & R$$$ residential zones). This is not guaranteed (obviously), but it is a start.

Farms employ only R$ sims. Do you have any demand for IA? Even if you do you may not have sufficient R$ population to allow for development. And farms strongly dislike traffic and high land values. Given the wealth of your population I would guess that land value might be too high to permit re-development. What Blackbeard said might be true but there is some debate about Education Quotent(EQ) and Jobs. For sure only R$ will work in IA; no R$$ or R$$$ will no matter how stupid they are. Even morons have their pride. The bottom line is that what spurs IA development pretty much repels any other type and visa versa. IA cities must be dedicated by and large to IA and they must have a ready supply of poor, uneducated sims who have no hope for advancement.

Farm demand is also related to city population. Demand drops as the pop rises. Once the pop reaches about 50,000 there is no more demand for farms.

As long as my population is low enough and I can keep zoning new residential areas that at least at first attract R$, I can keep the farms growing. Once the R$ evolves into R$$, the ag demand plummets. In order to get it back up I have to bring in more R$ (never mind the fact that most of those R$ sims go right to work at the civic buildings or commercial sectors, bypassing the farm jobs).

Is there a way to mod out this farming demand reduction?

Generally it makes sense, as my city gets big and urban, land simply is too expensive to demand farming.

But sometimes, specially on the huge maps, I just have a tiny dense little city in a corner, and huge open flat areas begging for farming, but the demand has been 'capped' out or what not at exactly 0.

it seems a little redundant to me.  If your city is educated and high wealth enough to not demand farming, then it won't demand farming.  To have that population switch that just turns off farming can be troublsome.  Always makes me have to do all my farming perfectly before I build my city, as I can't get them back.
