Beebs : The rail along Southgate must look out of place for anyone. But it is the Future LRT expansion. And with the mayor recently announcing this should be done within 3-5yrs. And they are talking of maybe even heading all the way down to the international airport or Leduc. Heres hoping.

Vigo : Yes all plans at the moment show it going only as far as Century Plaza. But while watching the news the other day they reported that they where speeding up the project. Originally slated to take place over the next ten years or more they announced they are speeding it up. Then they mentioned they had talked to the Mayor of Leduc and may expand it after further looking into it. As anyone knows this city is really pushing for more transportation and expansion. Edmonton is slated to be the fastest growing city in Canada and its growth should make up the 15,000 gap with Calgary and pass it in the next few years. Should be interesting.

Beebs : The main downfall of this region is the Elevation of the river valley. It is a little to deep and makes for many areas along the river valley hard to recreate. Other parts of the city slightly rise above the rest. I showed this in NE Edmonton and along refinery row but any other slightly sloped areas are pretty well flat. I'm not really concerned about elevation. After terraforming all the land what I made I am stuck with. Even after terraforming the SW I knew this would/could be an issue when the city began to develope.

TJD- You've inspired me to create a city based on my hometown.  Not a recreation, but basicly the same thing.  I love how you've done the transit networks.  For some reason, I find it very cool to look at (even in the closeups).

As far as the Southgate Mall - Get me some good pics (preferably a lot of good pics2.gif) and I'll take a shot at it in BAT.

ACEfanatic : thats great to hear your willing to do Southgate mall. But if your interested there are about 276 other buildings in the city that are more noteable if you would like to tackle one in BAT. Still waiting on the Telus building which was for the 3rd time sappose to be finished again? Who knows. But Ace if you want to try a mall or any type of building it would be more then great. I could really use help batting some builings to take this region to the next level.

TJD, I hope to god this doesnt start the next page on ya, but I just spent about 3 hours (Iam stuck with dial-up) reading this forum, as it was referred in the Digby forum. I am very tired now and after reading compliment after compliment, and to my surprise, you answer most questions as well,am left speechless in regards to this forum. I may eventually try Chicago, I am a laborer, and travel Chicago extensively and its suburbs and good greif. I would like to recreate Chicago, just to change it's routes cuz d*mn. I wish I could post pics but anyone livin by me may get what I'm sayin...Check this.                                                                                                                                                          There is a Highway I-55 runnin from Chi-town's west'burbs to the city, there is an annex E-way called   355 that runs north and south in the west burbs an stops 'round Romeoville. They are extending 355 to the S/W 'burbs.{Problem} I-55 Has a horrible commute time during good weather at 5:00 P.M. of 2-3 hours. SOmething will have to be done to I-55. This maybe off topic, I'm sorry but after reading this you seem like your interested in transportation and city building, Illinois is FUBAR I figure you mightwant to take a look-see  at a chicago(Illinois) map an see what I mean. 355 is going to connectto I-80 as far as I know,if you do look at An Illy map Orland park, Frankfort, Monee,New Lenox, these cities and towns are expanding rapidly, as well as the far reaching burbs of Aurora and Plainfield all with complex road systems. There willbe transportation problems here beyond our Wildest beleifs I would like to create sucha hell in my game                                                                                                                                                              Sorry for the length of this post, It has now taken 3 hours to read and reply to your absolutawonderfulistupendouslysly slick, awe-inspring,city-building inspiring Brilly-ente' <(thats a horrible accent1.gif) City journal. Like most I don't reply to any but the best. By the way I to have been playing SCsince classic and bought SC4 when it 1st came out, due to PC difficulties I have no pics of my 1st couple of regions, and also am having a hard time Downloading maps, Iam building a newRegion using the SanFrancisco region that came with the game, not a recreation, but my own, intended for realism and light storytelling. I cant figure out a way to run railroads realistically in this map. When I get up the nerve to learn to post things and just create a forum like this for others to see I will. until then this will be my last post here until you astonish me again. thank you for the time you generously put into this project, also your not crazy29.gif2.gif It's 5:40A.M.,here, now.  (I have to do it,one stupid question, before I go, Where do I find those cool satelite images and what do they cost if anything?).

EDIT:A felling of well-being sets in as I realize I did not start page 39.Again,that is all.

Imotepp : Thanks for reading the whole CJ. Its nice to see it capture peoples intentions and inspire them to do the same for there areas.

Chicago is a huge area and would be a hard region to tackle. The entire Edmonton area with all of its suburbs is much larger then my area. But to iclude most of them would take forever. So I just did the main part of the city aswell as St. Albert. Edmontons largest burb at 55,000. Since you do a main commute maybe you could do just that.... Your Commute. Regions can be expanded later if you want to include more. Chicago has been recreated a couple of times on this site aswell if your looking for Ideas. Edmontons transportation is pretty simple for a city of 1mil. But I think doing areas like I55 and 355 would be interesting. Good or bad. And like my region I am including future areas that are planned. Maybe you could do the same to solve the problem.

This isnt the site I use most often for Edmonton. But this is a good one for US areas. Maybe this can help you.

44.gif This is the best CJ I have ever seen. You have put so much time and effort into it. The real city of Edmonton seems like a very nice place to live. 15.gifSadly in the newspapers this morning 5th March 05 I read about the killing of four mounties just 130km north west of edmonton. This is the worst tragedy to strike the mounties in 120 years. They were taking part in a raid on a suspected marijana growing operation when they were shot. You can learn more about it here. (copy & paste into the address bar) http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=6b2b71eb-a39a-44c3-aca4-b447ef808f61 . I was surprised to here about this as Edmonton doesn't sound like it has many bad criminals but I suppose most cities have problems like this at some point. Again I would like to compliment you on this CJ. Bee21

Date: 2/15/2005 11:21:11 PM Author: TheJerseyDevil73 Edmonton cracks 300,000... Far from a large number for an 18 month old region but still a show of recent growth. It's weird at times to build a region so slowly. I have other regions with cities of 1million yet here population takes a long time to stake. It's hard to say what the final total will be but it should be double what Edmonton really is, sitting at 1million. I should have some up close pictures of areas soon. Edmonton%20Feb15.jpg11.gif

I must say, I really admire your devotion to this project. 19.gif

I took a few sattelite pictures of your city:

Bee21 : The killing of the 4 mounties NW of Edmonton has left me in disbelief. Police officers nation wide can go years without a death and for something like this to happen in this area is crazy. The local and national news have been covering it very closely. Edmonton for a city of 1million only has 20-28 murders a year. Canada has many marijuana grow operations and the government is trying to crack down on it. Hopefully it will be another 120 years before something like this happens again.

Jasperdeman.nl : Thanks for the satellite link. Thats a really neat angle of the city. I'll have to check out that NASA site a little more and see if I can get some good sat pics of the city. So far the site I use only has good views of half the city.

Edmonton : Its been a slow couple of weeks, I've been pretty busy but in the next week there should be some good updates coming.

City of Edmonton - March 7th

I haven't worked on the region much in the last 2 to 3 weeks. But I have a few days off of work and I did a little work in Northwest Edmonton this morning. This area is mainly Industry. Most if it being warehouses or industrial offices. It is extremely hard to recreate industry properly. There are warehouses in Edmonton that would be up to 10x10 tiles so recreating lots like that can't be done for now. But the region needs more industrial growth so I wanted to build up a little more.

Here are some photos of 1 small area that is in its early beggining. Just west of 170th Street and between 111th and 105th Ave. Only half of this small area is done....but I wanted to push for an update since it has been so long since the last. There should be alot fo updates coming up.

TJD - By far the best CJ I've ever seen.  I love the attention to detail.  I think this CJ is an inspiration for me.  I'm going to try to re-create my home county (home to 44,000).

Hello TJD, Thank you for your info on finding good images, your the best. As usual, I am afraid to reply, as I do not know when the page will end. Another question, did you use the lot editor to create those brilliant Industrial parks? If so I have alot of downloading and learning to do. If you got them from Simtrop, I will look. Again, thank you this is the best, blah blah blah, lol j/k, you rock in all aspects of what your doin here.19.gif

Imotepp : My inustrial areas are mainly plopped with a mod called the Final Plop Mod. Its a bit tricky when you first use it. But you can plop down any growable RCI lot. My industrial areas are done accuratley as possible with this game. They will most likely be the areas that are hardest to recreate. SC4's Industrial lots overall arent to realistic.

Tinnyboy_gummi : Australia is a little ways away. And if you ever make such a long trip to really make it worth while make sure you go to the Canadian Rockies. Possibly the nicest mountains on earth. And yeah if you like shopping this is one of the best cities to do it. Your lucky you werent at West Edmonton Mall yesterday. 1000's where evacuated after a fire. Next to no damage. Goodluck with Gladstone aswell...If you need anyhelp with it just ask.

    Cammo2003 : Thanks for the spellcheck 31.gif

Chunky_monkey_14 : The roads are made by offsetting a series of roads. Example : A 5x1, 4x1, 3x1, 4x1, 5x1. If you do this with roads in order and place one above the next you can make a small curve. If you check out my other (new) CJ, you can see some good curved roads that are freely made (Monarch Coast).
