Still not working... maybe its one of the optional mods? or maybe i downloaded the wrong transit/automator file?

the two files that i chose out of the many transit/automator files are:

NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_PerfectPathfinding_5xCapacity_10xSpeeds_10xCommute.dat

and

NetworkAddonMod_Automata_Plugin_Radical_Automata24.dat

I made a folder called networkaddonmod that is listed before the SC4_..... file. but the actual networkaddonmod.dat file is still at the end of the list of all optional files and 2 required files. do these need to be in any order or in seperate sub-folders?

another thing i forgot to mention... i have NO left turn lanes.... thats another thing thats missing from my patch in addittion to persistant high commute times and the other missing features.

lastly i want to bash the developers of simcity 4. i mean honestly, in real life people will drive 5-6 simcity sized cities to get to work. this walking 2 tiles being too far is preposterous... what were the developers thinking??? if it was any closer, they would be INSIDE their place of employment!! I bet if they lived and worked in the same room they would complain about commute times for having to get from the bed to the desk chair!!! how the heck did the developers make the cities they show in their screenshots? i doubt they actually test ran simcity 4... no im thinking they just plopped each building by clicking it from a list and then took a screen shot. its a great game ruined by 1 small bug.. and im dying to play the game without the bug, cuz if it manages to entice me as is... i cant imagine yet what it will be like to make my own functioning city and have it portraid so realistically... i just cant wait to get these issues fixed.

Most of the people here hate it too. That's why we made NAM. 4.gif

Okay, forget what I said before. "SC4_RH_Deluxe_Update1" does have to load first, so put the space back in. The NAM folder needs to load right after it, so name the NAM folder ".NAM". Press "option+8" to get the "."

thank you so much it actually worked this time... however there were still no job zots in my city.. weird. though commute times on 90% of the buildings were short though! but out of like 20 rich houses 4 or 5 still had no job zots and bad commute times.... i think theres a bug for when they "cant find" a job, the game says it took too long getting to the job... im going to expiriment further

"Long commute" also means that there is no job available for that location. Check that too with your route query. If nobody is leaving, or only a few people are, they're unemployed.

Looks like this is a spent discussion. Well I'm new here, just wanted to say how much I appreciate the efforts of zelgadis. My 2 cents say those downloads are perfectly legal when so many developers pander to Microsoft's will. But great, I finally get Lucky's Hang Ten. woot woot!!!

    Zelgadis,

Being rather new to Simtropolis, I was under the impression that the Mac and PC versions of the game were identical as far as mods and such were concerned until I did my research. I totally felt like I had wasted sixty-some-odd dollars because I felt as if the Mac version that I had bought was completely crippled due to the lack of modding geared toward Macs. Very frustrating! I did a lot of researching today and thanks to help from your topics and replies in this thread and many others, I am feeling a lot better about the Mac version and am modding away. You really know how to make the disgruntled Mac user feel at home at Simtropolis! Just thought I'd throw some public recognition out there to you!

Thanks for everything, can't believe I didn't find your stuff sooner! 44.gif

@actionattackjohn: It works for me. What is the problem you're having exactly?

@Jacob Rock: Sorry I missed your post. I do appreciate your words. I'm very happy to do what I do here. 4.gif

    Wow!

Thanks for this. 4.gif I've always tried to download from the Maxis site, but the serial number never worked. This is great, thanks again!

Hello All. I am new to Sim City 4 and i haven't yet to understand the tech lingo. How do I add those mods to my game?

First, you download them. Then go to the SimCity 4 folder, wherever you may have chosen to install it. In the folder SimCity 4 Data, there is a folder called "Plugins" which is where any files with the extension ".dat" ".SC4Model" ".SC4Lot" or ".SC4Desc" need to be put into, in order to show up in the game.

Welcome to Simtropolis, btw. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Is it possible to use the terrain generator now? That was always my biggest gripe about the situation.

I have also downloaded the Graphic rules.sgr and he SC4 Deluxe Update 1 from zelgadis website. But may I know what exactly those files supposed to do? I did not manage to see any differences?

My mac is the Macbook pro with Intel. I am still having trouble with poor graphic (black shades around the building).

    Hello

Thanks Zelgadis for uploading all the mods. I have tried the SC4 Deluxe Update1. Although I cant really feel the difference, I believe it certainly helps with my gameplay. The graphic rules however, really helps with my previous graphic problem. I used to have black spots behind almost everything, trees, building, bridges etc. But it is totally gone now.

One thing to be noted(some of you might have known this) for the mod to take effect in the game you have to access it through the SC4 icon in the Applications folder, NOT through the SC4 CD icon on the desktop. I have just realised that and everything seems to work well. One problem though is that i believe the graphic files have somehow changed the colour of the traffic route in the route query tool. Is that unavoidable? It is alright with me though bcoz now I can enjoy my beautiful city...no more balck spots.

Now will be experimenting with the NAM.Try to install it first. Good Luck Evryone.

Ps: Im playing with an intel-based Mac. It seems it is playable after all in Intel Mac.Really glad bout that

The deluxe update 1 file doesn't really enhance gameplay much. However, it does add at least one very, very important fix. You should notice that your highway/avenue interchanges now have crossings on them. Big lifesaver there. 4.gif

As for the changing of the colors of the route query tool, I haven't noticed that myself. You'll probably get used to it in time.

Just keep lurking around and you'll find more of the answers you are looking for. Interesting though about the CD startup thing. Since I've never started the game directly from the CD, I did not know that...

I came to this thread in hopes that we had them for PC. Unfortunately I already had registered my game on another account which I have forgotten.15.gif

Thanx to Zelgadis for the Mac files.

EA's stance on this is ridiculous... how hard would it be to add the Mac/Aspyr CD serial #s to their web database for downloads? (Answer: It would be trivial to do.)

The .dat and .lot files are cross platform, FFS!

It's all the more frustratingly ironic, since the original Maxis Sim City was an Amiga/Macintosh game, later ported to PC. =/

I've had SC4 since it came out, but just decided to revisit it.

I have a dual 2.5GHz PowerMac with an ATi Radeon 9600 XT

Unfortunately, Zelgadis' updated Graphics Rules.sgr file doesn't seem to fix my choppy scrolling issue (especially on big cities), I'm trying a few tweaks to the file, but not having much luck.

Anyway, my question regarding this thread is:

Since I don't have Rush Hour, are any of these files "RH specific" that I should avoid or not bother with?

    Thanx again!

Went to the link that you left to go and download the Rh Deluxe update and clicked on the thing that said download. Then I get a window and it says Error Acess denied. Any idea why?

    Hello,

So, I see it's been a while since anyone has posted to this thread. I just found this community thread and would love to read the tutorial, but the link is dead. Where can I find the tutorial and/or similar information?
