I'm working on a covered hopper set. I thought I'd show the first car for feedback before I complete the set.

The more I looked at the hoppers the more the way the top looked bothered me. It was just too flat and 2D. I decided to kick it up a notch so the release will be delayed.

If I ever say it's cool, awesome, etc. I think it's fine. If I feel otherwise I'll let you know what could be improved. I think Ithink2 is right. Knowing you, if you do a fourth version of the CSX it will be better that the third and if you don't than that's fine. The CSX hoppers are just excellent! Almost no room for improvment.

Here's a glimpse of the next set. I couldn't find any good images of CSX boxcars so I ended up making this almost completely from scratch.

I plan to add a few details like a brake wheel. Some cars in the set will have various degrees of weathering.

Here's a closer look after adding a frame and brake wheel to the end.

I have changed the coupler but it still looks very toyish.

 

I'll try to make a better one later. It would be a stand alone mod that when used would replace the original on all engines and cars.
