    Thanks,

Here's something a little different. A Sponge Bob Rail freight engine. It replaces the original freight engine. A box car set and caboose will follow then it's back to River Haven.

I think SB is a little scary. And on a train. But it is the only trian I don't like of yours so they compensate for that one scary one.

    Standby.

Here's the Spunge Bob Railroad. This download contains two engines, the following post contains two box car sets of two cars each and a caboose which is separate.

The engines are replacements for the original freight and steam engines.

Wow, the LIRR trains are so-so(I suggest you go back to that link[NYCsubway.com] and go register on their subtalk forums because some posters there put pics of trains in the NYC area or elsewhere) and the SBR, I'm not going to talk about it(Spongebob in a train makes me laugh).

    Trolca,
I want to say thanks the Sponge Bob train you made was the one that my son requested. I just noticed it and showed him hes all excited. Thanks Trolca you just made my son's day. For the passed week that all he's talked about was the train you were going to make. The hours that the modders spend on making all the superb modds and trains and road make SIMTROPOLIS stand out as the best site on the web for superior add on for SIMCITY4.
    Once again thanks

I thought i'd post some new pictures up to show you all my progress, Notice how the front pulling train kinda gives the impression the roof is already curved (if only i knew how too do this, at the moment i don't); /idealbb/files/lond1.JPG
Heres a side view of the London Underground Train:
    /idealbb/files/lond2.JPG
    And heres a closer look:
    /idealbb/files/lond3.JPG
What i'd also love to do is assign two "Headlights" to the front of the train, and if possible make the windows glow up at night if at all possible?
If anyone has any comments your most welcome.

Not sure if your reffering to my Lonond underground frogfrace? But anyways this is the first time ive EVER edited the train textures, I dont think it looks too bad, the front of the train is taken from a photo of the london underground while the sides exluding the the windows, were drawn and then modified using photoshop, since i searched for ages but i couldnt find a straight on angle of a london underground, but like i said its a work in progress...

I'd say less than a third of my work is taken from photos in any mannor. It's not easy finding images taken from the correct angle and most images focus on the engines and not nearly as much on the rolling stock. One thing I think is helpful is using images of model trains instead of the real thing. Images can be found that highlight a single engine or car. In most cases these images are good profile shots instead of some extream angle.

I think you're off to a good start.

    Trolca, great work.
I thought I could provide some insight regarding the LIRR trains...
Your model is based on a double-decker train which is used on limited runs, primarily to the points furthest away from NYC.  It's about 1 1/2 times the height of the standard train, which may be why the proportions don't look so hot....

    /idealbb/files/dd_11.jpg

The standard train, in terms of proportion, more closely resembles the SC4 train size.  The newest version, the M7, is here:

    /idealbb/files/m7_1.jpg

I'm not sure you can do anything with respect to the height of the model you already made, but I  hope this helps a little.  Anyway, keep up the good work!

Looking at the picture, it doesn't appear to be any taller than any other train. If anything the extra hight looks like its taken up by the lower ground clearance. Another point is that the cars in my mod aren't double-deckers like those in that picture. I was thinking about making them but I wasn't sure what they're used for before you posted. I just didn't picture double-deckers as a commuter train. Is it two complete floors inside?

Here are replacements for the original tanker cars.

While these cars replace the original tankers, more will follow that have their own ID numbers.

Here's a five tanker set with the River Haven colors and logo. These cars have their own ID numbers and shouldn't conflict with any other post Rush Hour mods I made.

You are correct that some of the extra height is made up by reducing the ground clearance, but this train is definitely 2-3 feet taller than the standard car.  I believe they were custom-designed to maximize their height through the existing East River tunnels.

They are also definitely double-decker commuter trains.  The lower level windows are about a foot above the platform when the train is in station.  When you walk in, there's about 4 steps down to the lower level and 4 steps up to the upper level, kind of like a split-level house.

I'll see if I can scare up some better pics for ya.

Ok, Trolca, lucky for you it's a slow day at work... 2.gif

Here's a better picture of the LIRR C3 train car that clearly shows the two decks:

    /idealbb/files/c3_side.jpg

    Also, I found out, it's technically a bi-level, not a double-decker.  I made this little diagram:

    /idealbb/files/c3_layout.jpg

The light green areas are the entry level, and is where the doors are.  There is some seating in ends of these sections.  The dark green areas are the upper and lower levels.  This shot of the interior is from the upper level and if you look carefully, you can see the entry level and some of its seating:

    /idealbb/files/c3_interior2.jpg

Hope this helps!  Back to work... 23.gif

Still not 100% yet, Noticeably the front of the train, Will work on it more, Still havent had time to add all the Generics yet, but will do. Note* Still havent worked out to curve the roofs slightly...
