Train Mods

[Trolca 15]

Can you possibly make a boxcar that  does not replace the originals with the SimTropolis logo on the side?  A black background would be nice ... *hint hint*  I prefer a boxcar, but an engine that doesn't replace the originals would be excellent as well.

 

Some time ago I made a set of box cars that included a very dark green one with the Simtropolis logo. It has it's own ID that I have never used for any other cars. After that posting there was a small update to the set that I never got around to releasing though. I'll do that some time soon.

 

Has anyone done any mods for the el-trains with differnt paint schemes?

 

I planned on Long Island Railroad as being my next project. Some of there service appears to be light rail. It's very close in appearance to el-trains and subway. I sort of got side tracked by the yard and prop projects. After this I would like to do some work on a River Haven set.

The Long Island Railroad project has caught my eye, it shows promise, like all of your work, trolca. For those who may not know, the LIRR doesn't only do passenger service for the MTA but they also run local frieghts on Long Island. Heres a pic of a nice mix of the LIRR's frieght units with mixed paint schemes, some old, some new. Long Island Railroad EMD's

I'm having difficulties finding Long Island Railroad images taken from the right camera angle. I'm looking for images with good side views. If you have any images that you feel would be helpful, you can post them here or send them to Trolca@aol.com .

Here's the River Haven Engine pack. Six freight and two passenger engines.

Replacement for original freight.

Replacement for original steam.

Replacement for original passenger.

Psssttt: The 7 Trumpets is making it possible to draw el-trains down the middle of avenues.  This requires about 800 new path files, though, so we must have patience.  But it IS possible.  I look forward to seeing some good el-train and subway skins!

I just downloaded them, and they look awesome. Can't wait to try them out in the game. Thank you a thousand times Trolca to take the time and make this River Haven train set for my city River Haven. This will make it all look so much better / realistic. Can't wait for the cars to go with them too then I'll be all set with the ground trains.

I'm not sure what would be causing that. I've never had that problem with any of the mods. If you remove all of them, is the problem corrected? If so put a few back at a time, starting with the newest.

The only kind of images I can find are like this one.

I really would like something taken from a different angle. Most of what I did with the Bay Line, CP Rail and Amtrak was from images.

I'll give you a little criticism.

The top three freight look great, but the other's look.... wierd. I think the colors are too "flat". It just seems like there aren't any features there. Those details may just be too tiny to do, though.

Can't wait to see the matching cars for that set.

I was going for a weathered look. I can look into adding some detail later on but there's only so much you can do with 256 x 256 pixels for the whole skin.

Trolca, you'd think you'd know your own work...

Anyway, jeeper767, one of the train mods you installed made some of your Track inspectors (Those little green things that move on the tracks that are hella fun to run over with Trains... ) in Rush Hour with regular desiel engines. They're "track inspectors in disguise!"

It might of clicked if he said some of his trains were without cars. I had the impression that they all were. His freight and passenger service must not be in use, so all that is active are the track checkers.
