    This newest release is going to make most of my previous work obsolete. I have found how to add new engines and cars without losing any of the current ones.

     

    This zip file contains three freight engines that will all operate with the current freight engines for a total of five freight engines when the steam engine included.

     

    All these images were taken from the same game session.

    Amazing, Trolca!  I haven't tried them yet, but they look really cool.  One question, though: have you figured out how to make longer trains yet?  Since this depends on the usage of the stations the train's traveling to/from, I don't know if this would even be possible...Looks really good...I'm gonna nominate you for this!  And also, how are you getting so many trains in one screenshot?  I'm lucky to ever see one!

    I wish I could make longer freight trains. I'm not sure if it is possible. If it is I might need help. I still don't know what I'm doing alot of the time.

    Here is my first freight car multipack. This is four new box cars to add to your collection.

    In the Sim City 4 install, in the plugin folder. As far as I know, all mods should be placed there, only lots are placed inside My Documents.

    Thanks for the positive responces. I'll be doing more mods soon as well as trying some new ideas. I do see flaws with my current ones that I will correct. The yellow box car needs work for example.

    More box cars. I tweaked the first box car multipack and created a new set. There is four cars per set and all can be used at the same time.

    So whichever train engine, and, for that matter, freight cars, appear is completely random, and the length is based off nearby station usage?  And while I'm talking, can we just delete the FSH files if we don't want one of the boxcar textures?

    For the box car multipacks you would want to delete three files, a 3DM, Exemplar and FSH file, all with the same Instance number. This rule is true for most but not all train objects. In general some times you need to do some looking, see what numbers are in the 3DM Mats tab and Exemplar for example. If all that's in the DAT file is FSH files then yes, delete the one you don't want.

    I would think cars and planes would be the same as trains. I don't know about changing props.

     

    Here is and updated passenger train pack. I includes a total of three passenger engines and seven passenger cars. They all have the same color scheme and logo.

    I can use the logo but I can't get around the problem of one side of an enginer or car is the mirror of the other side. The logo will look correct on one side but mirrored on the other. I'll put them on my next set. If its so small that it can't be read then maybe mirroring wont be so bad.

    Here is my attempt at a silver/gray color scheme. I placed the Amtrak logo on them. Let me know what you think. I couldn't get the look I wanted.

    Here is a tanker car multipack. Over all I think I do better with freight then passenger cars. One big problem with passenger cars is that they are so short.

    I'll see what I can do.

    For now though, here is a completely new freight Engine. Its a modified box car. It doesn't look like much but I hope to get better at modifying current engines and cars. One thing I want to attempt is to make the passenger cars longer and possible closer together.

    Does the length of your freight trains differ? Mine stays the same, only the passenger train get longer the more they are used, but it does seem that I get a lot more freight trains than I do passenger trains so this might make up for the length...... 23.gif

    ----------------I think Maxis set the freight train lengths to four freight cars so the caboose would always be on the end. If the caboose is removed completely, trains only have four freight cars. You can have five freight cars without the caboose with one of my mods.
