Can't see highways in regional view

I have noticed that after I edit a city, than in regional view the highways dissappear. You can still make out the where the zones are, but no highways visible. While for cities (or square areas) where I have only put highways and did not zone much, than the highways ARE visible. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />https://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n127/michael1950/nohighways.jpg<br /><br />Like in the picture above. Highway visible on the right, but not on the left.<br />Any way to solve this?<br /><br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />PS. Sorry, I don't know what is the deal between this HTML malarkey and my FF browser.

To start off with, have you tried to resave your city and check it again?

If not, try to find plugins that may cause this.

Hey, I have this same problem too. It's so odd. I can't see highways when I'm zoomed on the two farthest zooms in a city too. I doubt it's plugins. I only have a water-color plugin and NAM. I think it's just my crappy computer.

Make sure you are using the correct region view.  One gives a satellite view, the other shows the traffic layout.

It's not the view for me. The highways show up as red when I view the transportation map in review view. They simply don't show up when I look in satellite view. I'll get a screenshot if I can.

its your video card, it might not support hardware rendering (atleast thats what was wrong with mine) when you go into game and go to graphics options and click the "software rendering" button the problem should go away, but this will also cuase other graphical problems that would be easier to fix. Im speaking from experience so it might work diferently with you....

Before I do it, could you tell me what other graphical problems it could cause?

Software rendering cuts out your video card's logic and does all the graphics work in your processor.  This will slow the game, but if everything is OK now, then there is a problem with your hardware graphics (set up, driver, or the hardware).

From SimCity 4's faq:

---

Disappearing Buildings When Scrolling
Many cards (including the ATI Radeons) lack support for a backing store, which SimCity 4 utilizes. For those cards, SimCity 4 is forced to disable the rendering of many of the view objects (like buildings) during scroll. This is intentional to ensure responsiveness while scrolling. You can enable the rendering of all objects by editing your "Graphics Rules.sgr" which is found in the Sim City 4 directory installed to your hard drive. With any text editor go into this file and change the following property from true to false:

property noPartialBackingStoreCopies false

Note, however, that doing so can adversely effect scrolling speeds
---
I did that and loaded up a city and saved and my highways appear in  satellite view. The bad part was my scrolling speed was horrible. I went back to the original. It really doesn't bug me that much that my highways are missing in region view.

That must be it, since I have a Radeon 7500 (32mb) on my laptop. <br />Thanks everyone for helping, I guess it is not that big of a problem to sacrifice scrolling speed for it. PS. I don't get it, why am I the only one to post bare HTML??

I have an ATI Radeon too, so that must be the problem. I'm not about to mess with it and make my scrolling even slower.

Oh well. Anyone want to recommend what video card I should get when I get a new computer? NVidia?

if you want to overclock, go with nVidia. if you want stability, go with ATI, but get some of the more recent ones. i'm using a Radeon X700 Pro, and it works absolutely fine with SC4.
