i know this issue as been discussed a dozen of times : night lighting. I installed my simcity deluxe, i downloaded those two updates from maxis, as long as B.A.T and lot editor, installed the update, then the B.A.T and finally the update for B.A.T.  Even so, i can´t get the lights working properly! What is the problem?  i also noticed that, while in gmax, the render would only how lights whose intensity was set to 1. they just wouldn´t appear if it is 0,9 or lower. to create night windows, i clone the rectangles i use to extrude to windows, select some of them and group them with a name "nitelite..." (wrong prefix?). Is anything wrong with this method? is it texture fault..? does it takes time till the night lights appear on your buildings? i´ve cycled through day/night and it still didn´t work! i appreciate your help since i have read every topic about night lighting and i couldn´t find any answer. Thanks.

you doing nite window textures or nitelite lighting.

If you are just textureing windows, it must be named like so: nite_

BTW you should get Simtropolis Tools, is has some super handy features you should use.

I'll just point this out here that the nitelite textures do not show through transparent objects... in case you didn't know.

Do you mean that your nitelites do not appear in the game? Do downloaded BATs work? If they do then that is kne thing out of the way. Now, it takes time for the lights to come on and the building needs power, roads, and sims in it. If it is abandoned or uninhabited it won't light up. It also usually takes a while for the lights to come on when you first plop something.

P. S. The prefix is "nitelite_" or "nitelite " <--space... and I had never heard of the Simtropolis Tools until now. Thanks bixel. I will try them out sometime... if they work in gmax.

    i am creating both windows and night lighting. they need different prefix? Nite_ for windows and Nitelite_ for spotlights?

    The fun thing is, when i (in gmax) preview my model both day and night, the night windows appear. the same wont happen ingame. i´ll guess i´ll try download and wait some more time to see what happens.

    anyways, Thank you much both bixel and skyfire2275 9.gif.

    ps: where to get thos etools?

    edit:  And do you know what can cause the fact that i can only get the render to show Lights whose intensity is set to 1? i have to change global intensity to a smaller value than the intensity i set to lights? (anyway,im not sure of what global intensity does)

    The same thing happened to me, and then one day I turned the game to night mode, and everything turned on!  I don't know why.  The nitelites in my BATs were completely for the people downloading it, since they didn't work in my game, but that was about 8 months ago, I think.

    i know the export script multiplies the lights by .5,.5 and .75 to double check that the colors fit with maxis' and it also does the same for the multiplyer that may be why your lights wont show up if there too dark
