Sup everyone, since I just have to tlak about this game/series and havent found any topics on it.....here it is... the official MGS topic for any die-hard fans like my self, any you want to say or discuss, bring it up! This series has so much detail in its mind-bending plots that I refer to it as more of a Movie series then a video game one... So, lets hear it!

You know, I was a real big fan of the first Metal Gear, and really liked Metal Gear 2: Sons of Liberty... But Metal Gear 3 just isn't doing it for me.  I think the sensation of sameness is too overwhelming   Don't mean to be a wet towel, though, at heart, for the first two MGS's ... I'm a big fan!

I thought the Sons of Liberty plot was a little bewildering... Did anyone know what was going on there? Or was Mr. Kojima under some kind of influence ...

MGS3 is definatley the best game out of the series, MGS has got great characters and a great story line, MGS2 had great graphics, a weird and confusing storyline (which i just managed to understand) but the characters were'nt as great as MGS, and MGS3 rounds the story and any unanswered questions perfectly, and has some weird but cool characters, can't wait for MGS4 if it is released (hopefully we get to know who the patriots are)

btw, why do the cobras in MGS3 explode before they die, just wondering (sorry if this spoils the game for anyone who hasn't played it)

I've never had the priveledge to enjoy MGS1, but i have played sons of liberty at my cuz's and I have mgs3.   I do agree with you tc13 that MGS2 was insanely confusing, especially with the fact that the whole time you wernet listening to the major, instead it wasArsenal's interpretation of him speaking to you....creapy. Thats just my theory, my proof for that is when the comp virus takes effect and you see the major's speach start to slur.

 

But I hated Raiden...the most girly man I've ever seen IMO.

 

As story lines go, MGS3 did it for me. That story was amazing and SPOILERS!!!!

 

I never suspected that Tanya was infact Eva or that she was working for the Chinese...WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?!

i doubt it, although it was mentioned once sometime ago in a playstation magazine i used to get

with my last comment i found out why the cobras explode in MGS3, they have microbombs in them and were ordered during WWII to kill themselves if they were captured, and they weren't allowed to keep their corpses for the enemy

MGS3 was pretty good, altough not really like the other two. And i heard that there is gonna be another MGS game on PS3. Its weird cuz Kojima said that MGS3 was gonna be the last MG game.haha but snake(or Big Boss)is lookin real old.

kojima said that 1) MGS3 was going to be (one of the last) MGS games on the PS2 and 2) kojima has retired his position from game director, someone else is now the boss of the MGS series

as for MGS4: guns of the patriots, it looks good, bring on the destrucable environments! pure mayhem and carnage final arrives to MGS!

I wished more MGS games came on xbox because I only have MGS 2: Sons of Liberty.

I don't think there will be a proper MGS movie soon ( some people have been wondering ) but MGS3 Subsistence will have a sort of movie disc which is a collection of all the movies in the game with extras in-between them to make a 3 hour movie out of it.
it will also feature new 3D gameplay camera not the fixed overhead camera and multiplayer online modes the game will only be on the PS2

the metal gear solid series is the best game series ever invented!!!!!!! mgs1 is a clasic, mgs2 full of action and enjoyable! mgs3 complicated but cool! ive got mgs1 and mgs2 substance wen is mgs3 subsistence going to be out and what is it gonna be like???

MGS3 subsistence is already out in the US and Japan but im not sure about Europe (between 30th March to sometime in September) it is going to feature Snake Eater with a new 3d camera, Demo theater, online modes, the original translated version of metal gear and metal gear 2, extra camo more snake Vs Monkey levels and other stuff

There will aslo be a 3.5 hour movie on the limited edition of MGS3 Subsistence making a total of 3 PS2 DVD's for the whole game

It's what got me into gaming(sorta) the "humanistic" side to it was very appealing. especially vs. the fighter plane stuff like ace combat where the guy giving you the mission is completely monotone and almost robotic To quote Milhouse "so cold, so cold" hehehe
