I recommend a reread of the NAM readme, this is a known issue, if you "hover" the game cursor over a transit enabled lot while you have a puzzle piece (including glr and ped malls) selected the game will crash to desktop, you have to be very careful when using puzzle pieces and don't hover over transit enabled lots, it also helps to save often when using puzzle pieces, this is a game bug that we all deal with, hope this helps...

I usually place the NAM pieces before I place the transit enabled lots.

That should not work, or at least does not work for me: except for puzzle pieces onto empty terrain. Whenever I try, i.e., Rail over Road, without the road already present, I cannot connect either side's road to the puzzle piece. Especially when avenues or highways are involved.

Generally, it works (for me).  The over road ones are a little tricky, and you'll need to experiment with them.  Save frequently.

I is a matter of experience, so lots of practice is needed.  Have patience.

I have a quick question about the NAM and these game crashes:

If this problem only occurs while 'hovering,' then is the NAM still an unstable addon?

I realize the reasources and utilities that 'Maxis' uses are not avalable for everyone (Modders) to use. Thus resulting in some unstable programing. I can only come to the conclusion that if this problem occurs often, or can; then it is still primarily unstable... what are creators doing to fix this problem if it even can be fixed and what about the GLR? it seems to me that, that is a largely unstable addon/utility as well.

Unfortunately, because of copyright restrictions, the NAM team is unable to put the required (and known) fix into the game.  It would mean publishing a patch, and this is not allowed by EA/Maxis.
