External Hardrive?

I bought a hardrive, just yesterday ok,

and i wanted to put all of the files from my game, and the game onto it,

so when i installed it on another computer, put the hardrive in, there were no files, no plugins, nor the reign i had created.

Is there a way where Simcity can read from the E:\ drive not the C:\ drive.

Almost forgot the brand is Maxtor.

dont know how but i have my external CD burner set up and read as E drive and i run my simcity disk off of it so my guess is even though it is kind of different, the comp should still be able to read files off of it.  sorry im not much help, but maybe i gave you some hope..llolol

the only plausible way is to move the default location of your MyDocuments folder to the E: Drive. hoever, I strongly advice against this, since the destination drive will be a removable one. Windows stores some necessary info in the MyDocs folder and putting that on a removable drive is not the best idea.

i play SC4 DE from a external Harddrive, i play all my games from it. everything in your Mydocs folder should stay there, you cant get your plugins folder in your external HDD and play with those plugins. however, you can copy them onto your Hardrive, and copy tehm on a different pc, so you have them

Hey Guys...

I found out how to use it anyway, when i installed Simcity 4 onto the hardrive i didn't put it into the C:\ Drive, but in the External E:\ drive, and placed all of the plugins into it, and now it works.

The plugins can really go in Program Files or My Docs, AFAIK. Now Program Files is simply the default location... the installation path can be custom and point to a different drive and folder.

However: AFAIK, Regions are always taken from the My Docs folder. The Regions folder in the installation path is simply a copy of the original regions. I think Albums and RecordedAnimations are the same (My Docs only).

My SimCity 4 program files are also installed to the external drive, as well as the Sims, the Sims 2 and so on. just as long as you keep the hard drive connected while your computer is on, no problem.
