turning off the "dust plumes"?

Is there any kind of setting or switch within the game code that will turn off those plumes of dust that appear when you plop or demolish something? Those things really give a performance hit, and when I demolish larger structures, it takes forever for the dust animation to stop.

for this, you need to edit the Graphics Rules.sgr file found in the program directory. first, you need to change the Read-Only attribute so you can edit it. then open it up in NOTEPAD and find the line(s) that say property particleDensity. change the value to 0 and save.

that should do the trick.

EDIT

this might affect dust plumes in other situations, im not sure.
