NAM and Radical Pathfinding

But I did not find what i was looking for.

When I installed the NAM  you come accross alot of options on what plugins to install. 
(ie perfect pathfinding, Radical, 2x roads etc)

I didn't know what to install, so I installed the Radical - since I thought it was the best.

My question is
what is it compared to perfect pathfinding? Is it a cheat?
I couldn't find a "good" explanation

In addition, i do not want to cheat but to "enhance" therefore, if I want to uninstall and re-install the NAM with the perfect pathfinding (since that is the ONLY one people talk about) can I just delete from those files from my pluggins and then just re-install the NAM like normal?

If you don't know, just install Perfect pathfining. As long as the residents get to work.

Perfect pathfinding is a modification to the game mechanics. If you are worried about cheating, install the 'standard' version.

I think SimCity has Commute times REALLY out of wack!

Anyhow, I may consider Radical to be cheating.

has/does anyone use this?

i dont know if the PC version of NAM installs a readme (it should), but i know for sure the MAC version includes a readme. Since the MAC version is a ZIP file instead of an EXE, it opens on the PC. find the readme file and the info you're looking for should be in there.

"Radical" includes perfect path finding, increased capacity, speed of commute, and something else I cannot recall. I think these bring some essence of reality into the game, opinions do differ however.

Anything other than 'NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_Standard.dat' could be considered a cheat.

However, 'NetworkAddonMod_Traffic_Plugin_PerfectPathfinding.dat' is pretty mild as far as a "cheat" is concerned. It just improves the heuristic to let fast computers calculate better paths for sims to get from home to work.

But the other traffic mods increase the total distance sims will travel and/or increase the capacity of roads and rail. That's definitely a cheat, and a big cheat. Some people will try to rationalize it by saying it's more "realistic", but don't forget that Simcity is a GAME, it's not supposed to be real!

If you mess with game settings, you're cheating. But who cares? If you have more fun by cheating, then cheat away! Nobody else cares if you cheat or not.
