I wonder why i do not have it then? What do most people use when it comes to power plants?

Being too anal about details hindering expansion
NYCorBUST replied to OM3N's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Well before I had Road Top Mass Transit, I used to do something like this: r = residential R = Road B = bus/subway m = pedestrian mall (found on STEX downloading the NAM) p = plaza/grass/ andy 1x1 lot found in the "tree" menu r R B R r r R m R r r R p R r r R p R r r R p R r r R p R r Then if I had a "gift" I would just surround it what I thin would look nice. IE g = grass LP = Large Park LF = Large Flower Garden g g g g g g g g g g Courthouse g g LP LF LP g if you are like me you like symetrical outlines...so that is what I do I "mirror" everything so it looks symetrical. You can all find Beutification packs with "trails" and "statues" and "ponds" on the STEX which just makes things awesome! -

Have you been replacing old power plants? Over time, they get old, and then they produce less power for MORE money! Same with water.quote> Yes actually. All my power plants are brand new. (seriously and I will need another one soon) I think I need a neighborhood deal to get the nuclear plant right? My water plants.....hmmm I didn't think about that one. Maybe I will destroy all those towers and build a few only of the largest pumping stations....that may save some more money. I like that. (my budget sets me at about 3k income)

Waste to Energy Plant Now that my population is really high (to me that is) I noticed that my Waste to Energy Plant isn't enough, so I made a recycling center. Still not enough! So I had to create another Waste to energy plant! Power Supply Then my power supply is DWINDLELING! I have 4 Gas powerplants, and 2 solar! Is there another way? Isn't that a waste? Fire Stations What about fire stations? I have one (the small one) Do I need more to relieve more demand cap? Hospitals I have 3 large hospitals in 2 blocks for the ammount of people I have, in addition to clinics and disease research center. And I still need more! All of this is crazy! Is this why everyone on ST has tons of downloads to handle large city demand? Why didn't Maxis create lots that can handle the demand? Anything I should be on look out for? This is all a new world seriously!

Monorail Tunnels & Other Stuff
NYCorBUST replied to NYCorBUST's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Yeah, I know that. I did not want to use ground level highway; I'd rather have a tunnelled (if that is a word) monorail. -
FYI: The first time my region pop actually broke 100k and I am at 257k!!!! The NAM rocks! I cannot believe it, my cities are HUGE! (ok not that big but you konw what i am saying) I have one medium tile maybe 60% full with about 125k in it! and a 4k income!!! WOO WOO Anyhow, Now that my cites are big, and my downloaded trainstations have about 12k people going through them, I decided to add some monorail (which I planned for) So I got to the point where I hit an elevated highway, and I don't like that default bridge that monorail turns into. SO I decided to try the Hole Diggen Lots for monorail. Didn't work. So I searched the forum. Followed step by step what the forum says here. Still didn't work. Now, I ask, is the default "create your own region"'s elevation to low to sea level, to build monorail tunnels? Or do I need to raise elevation? If so, screw the tunnels, now my geometrical city won't be so geometrical. GRRR but you'll have that right? And just curious, I have a center city, where all Co$$$ and Cs$$$ is and some R$$$, and some IH. Will all "forms of life" Travel and have intercity commute if I use heavy rail? Or should I switch to EL. I do have monorail moving through, and when needed I will add subways. Whatcha all think? Thank you,

Do airports work in adjacent cities? If so they do not relieve demand caps for other cities do they? Thank you

Right now, I am playing with some new "things" from STEX and I am growing my city from Industrial shore line and then to AG then to R$$ and slowly moving toward my center city. I want to have a good base of of people who will continue to grow and learn then move closer to the center city. For my subburbs I am just playing around with some curvier roads, and diagonals etc. I am trying to be more creative with them, more "real" I guess. My DT will be very much Griddy. I haven't decided if I am going to use Monorail for big City commute or for inner city commute. My goal is to grow into a large city instead of the other way around.

i don't consider it cheating I think SimCity has Commute times REALLY out of wack! Anyhow, I may consider Radical to be cheating. has/does anyone use this?
-
I want the Landmarks with jobs, but I heard you NEED the Opera House fix in order to have a large city with high education. But you cannot run these two mods together. So why one over the other?
-
But I did not find what i was looking for. When I installed the NAM you come accross alot of options on what plugins to install. (ie perfect pathfinding, Radical, 2x roads etc) I didn't know what to install, so I installed the Radical - since I thought it was the best. My question is what is it compared to perfect pathfinding? Is it a cheat? I couldn't find a "good" explanation In addition, i do not want to cheat but to "enhance" therefore, if I want to uninstall and re-install the NAM with the perfect pathfinding (since that is the ONLY one people talk about) can I just delete from those files from my pluggins and then just re-install the NAM like normal? Thank you!

Sorry if that is confusing, I have it all on paper drawn out but I can't do that here [shurgs]
-
actually I do not want a "griddy" system. I am looking so I can use Geometric Shapes and have all sides/corners etc equal. I figured if I used geo metric shapes for let us say a highway then used different shapes for avenue, and monorail - then overlapping those shapes they will produce the best transportation. IE: Highway - an octagon in the center of the largest tile surrounding the center of DT then on the horizontal/veritcal sides2 highways leading out of each Avenues - t-sectionned out of the diagonal sides of the octagon and cutting through twice on the horizontal/vertical sides leading to a square in the heart of the city - these are merging from the same highways on the horizontal/vertical sides using the NAM Monorail - figure 8'd on both left and right sides of the city and cutting through the heart of the city I haven't figured in GLR but I will probably only use Subways in my center city along with lots of bus stops. Basically I want this all "Geometrically Square" or "geometrically Perfect" Then as I work out of the inner city and build into the R parts of the surrounding inner city, I will begin to let loose from Geometry and start to add curves and such.

Thank you all! You rock! Now I just need to do the math!
