NYC Central-Park-like effect?

Basically, I'm in the midst of working on a large downtown area. Basically, down the middle runs a highway that separates my waterfront from the rest of the city. However, this highway burrows and pops back up later. This creates a large 6 by 48 (give or take, either way it's quite long) .

Here's a screenie: http://plasma.dyndns.org/sc4.jpg (sorry it's so slow, resized it wrong)

I want to create a large park (since my waterfront area doesn't really have any space for this), kinda imitating the NYC central park, long and narrow. I know 6 spaces is a bit too narrow, but you guys get the point.

I've looked through stex, and have not found any 3X3 or 6X6's that I could tile together to form something like this. Maybe I need to use 4X4 in the middle and 1X1 on the sides, but I don't know which. I kinda like symmetrical stuff, but I understand that this park might be asymmetrical for the sake of it. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make something like this? I've seen some beautiful parks in the park thread and achievements thread, so I know you guys have the creative power...

thanks. 4.gif

Sir Rakey,

You might want to try this download: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=13824. The file contains three parks that 6 tiles wide and 6, 8, and 11 tiles long. These might be suitable for what you have in mind.

BTW, after using a hole digging lot to lower the ground, you should bulldoze it before building a tunnel.

Hmmm, you could try the BSC parks, although they might be a bit too colourful and bright for New York.  Keep going until you find the base pack, the advantage with this is that the path texture is changeable to any style you like!  And there are additions such as fountains and statues.

Anyway, good luck!

be sure to check the "show us your parks" thread (or something named similar, I don't remember) to see what others have done with parks, for inspiration

choco:  thank you, thank you, thank you for posting that link.  I've been looking for the BSC

Base set and Walls for a month.  For some reason they never showed up when I searched for

"parks"

No matter where you go, there you are!

You could also use PEG's trail parks... although the BSC set has much more to offer at this point...
