Hey whats the closest that you can build a sunken highway to buildings?

I can't build a sunken highway anywhere within 10/15 squares of a build/road/zone..... Why is this? I want to replace all the highways in my regions but it turns out that I have to demolish like a mile around the highway to put it in.... Any help?

I think I know what you're talking about -- there are some spots where a tile will click as red. Try using 1x1 square road pieces (line of dots) to flatten out the embankment on the top, and inside (where you'll put the highway). That's pretty much the only way to get a perfectly straight terrain, since you can't really do it with the terraforming tools.

Or you could use simoncrie's hole digger mod on the STEX. I use it to build my sunken highways and it doesnt disturb anything built up or terraformed in the immediate area around the highway.

You should be able to make the building right next to the enbankment:

bldg-----bldg

-----\__/

But I usualy put a road there. It makes it easier to build cosistant onramps.

I think I figured out why it was not working....
