Do Signs & Labels eat resources too?

Hi there,

I guess I'm not the only one trying to keep SC4 running as smoothly as

possible but for some reason I've been unable to find anything about

signs & labels in regard to how it affects system resources.

Here's what I'm after: I want to name all my streets/roads/avenues and

whatever can be named, but most of the time these signs & labels will

be turned off. Does anyone know whether it consumes memory or otherwise

has an effect on gameplay  when sign & labels are NOT displayed?

grtz,

19:09:05:13.

Hi,

I think signs and labels may take a bit of memory in order to show it, but I think it will not need too much bytes for it to show.

Enjoy the community. I hope you enjoy your stay.

    Thanks for your input!2.gif

Of course, little things add up - I would imagine a large and

dense city will demand more than a few bytes to display all

    names, particularly when zoomed out.

It's what it does to the available memory when labels are *not*

displayed (I'm not sure whether you ment  "store" when you said

    'show' the 2nd time)

After all, plugins also drain resources even when they're not in

use anywhere in the region; I kinda figured that goes for signs &

    labels as well..

    grtz,

as far as I know, they also take resources when turned off, but all in all, they won't take to much (at least compared to buldings and other in-game stuff), no matter how many you use.

I plan to make a metropolis with the large city tile with u-drive missions available. Street names help of course. suggest you use numbers instead of noun names for your streets. it'll make them easier to relate to one another, and you won't be eating up more memory with names like Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious Dr. 9.gif
