Hi I have been conducting an experiment in my most worked on terrain region in my whole map, Silverpine City, to see which of the 4 building styles has the nicest, biggest buildings and to see how fast they develop. i found out that a poulation of around 16000 was enough for large CO$$$ to develop (kinda scary because its so fast)

anyways i tried euro, got tall buildings. tried new york and got tall buildings and i tried houstan and got pretty tanky buildings also. Last i tried Chicago style and the largest i got was a ham LLC.... i kinda laughed at how miserable the downtown area looked. So i exited to regoin and entered my city again and tried chicago again. Population was over 16000 but nope...no tall buildings of any sort. i tried over and over with the other styles and they seem to sprout gigantic buildings but Chicago is always left low and crummy looking 8.gif so yeah..has anyone else tried this? because it seems it happens in my other more developed cities. Chicago keeps getting left out..

The Chciago style of 1890 or somewhere there reflects the fact that there were fewer skyscrpers than now. I don't think custom content would not grow if you only had that style enabled.

Hold on. This is interesting. I thought the building style selection was purely cosmetic. But if the buildings in each set have different attributes then selecting one set over the others could affect demand and how the city grows.

    Am I wrong about this?

Personally, I actually prefer this lower style development. Sometimes, skyscraper jungles can be a bit intimidating, and not exactly conductive to the "urban scene". Sure, a few skyscrapers now and then are nice, but, in order to develop a proper urban fabric, mostly midrises is the way to go.

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.
