Maximizing Residential Population

I started work on this many months ago after reading this thread ,so i decided to put

my cj on hold and concentrate on putting all my regions resources into building a bigger

city than My Dallas sim city ,although its large i could of made it larger if id

done things differantly ,like with dallas the 65535 bug ,i feel caused major problems

which crippled the cities connections limiting the demand available to Dallas ,the city

has virtualy stopped growing although neighbour cities have full R demand bars. The

standard of life in Dallas is the highest in the region ,highest Eq ,best Salaries

Health ect ,so it had to be the connections . Ok so you put 400 highway connections

in ,but the sims all head for one and the same problem occurs. So i have made a city that

kind of balances the density of the area to the capacity of the connection and the jobs it

leads to ,No piont putting 100,000 jobs at the end of a bugged 65535 connection.I believe

that the 65535 bug is the final hurdle in maximizing the population of a city,( A grown

city on a hard setting ,without demand mods, cheats or plops and other radical mods).

I kinda learned that a city of 4x4,s , isnt going to be the densest city unless it is all

delapadated ong condors, so a facture to me on this experiment was that No buildings in the

final finished city should be of a delapadated condition .I kinda worked it out on a calculator

that it would be better to concentrate on a medium wealth population ,living in mainly Wallace

Manors ,i also hoped to get 4x4 Hamster Temenets and other large R$ buildings .Any R$$$ would live

in neighbour cities with ,minamal R$+R$$,s.Also so i can monitor growth , i decided to concentrate

on the euro tileset ,and tri trip towers, then later move to the huston tile set in the hope that

they buildings will upgrade to Wallace manors , it seems to be working upto now and the city

has grown to just over 2.1 million and is probably not even 25% complete , also ive tryed to keep

the road system as free-Hand as possible ,The spaces the roads give create important sites for the

planting of trees to reduce polution ,another very important factor in maximising.

Zones ,Maybe the city would grow larger with somekind of systematic grid ,but i prefare this kind

of layout .

An overview of the same area, only once i am happy with the density of this part of town will i zone

new residential area s.The Delapadiation of Co$$$ is not a major problen right now.

A closer shot of a small part of town ...

Maybe i post more shots and stratergies in future months.

I really like these screen shots. A great mix of gridding and variety. I have to say though, if you are going for high density populations you waste a lot of space with so many roads. You will have to sacrifice the beauty of them for more housing if you want to hit the high numbers.
