Welcome to Hockington

Introduction

Welcome to Hockington,

Hockington is my second CJ after my first one was destroyed in a hard drive crash. Hockington is not based in a specific country but it is very heavily influenced by British cities and their transportation systems.

Hockington is a large business centre located between the coast and hills in a region known as Stratbury. The cities design is heavily influenced by that of large Australian and English cities. The city ranges from the high towering international style skyscrapers to neo-classical civic buildings to post-modern commercial complexes. While the suburban areas range from Townhouses and Terraces to Large American style homes.

Hockington City Council has always been proud of its mass transit systems and to today has remained the leader in mass transit thanks to the HTR (Hockington Transit Railway). Hockington also has a intracate but functional higway system ensureing thousands of commuters reach work every day. Hockington is also proud to be the leader in green cities with pollution still well below the national average.

    suburbs

    Cannesborough and Rhyfield

    Cannesborough & Rhyfield

Cannesborough is one of Hockingtons oldest suburbs and is one of the closest suburbs to the city. It sits inbetween the suburb of Rhyfield and the Cannesborough Freeway. The suburb contains the local high school which services many of the surrounding suburbs. Near the high school is the Silverwater Memorial Walkbridge, a bridge dedicated to John Silverwater, the man who discovered the land where the city now lies. Throughout Cannesborough there are a number of ststions servicing the locals. The large amounts of commuters in the area are putting alot of pressure on the Hockington Transit Rail in the areas and many people are beginning to drive to work.

Rhyfield lies between Cannesborough and the Harrington Freeway. It is a relatively small suburb compared to others but still houses the areas main hospital, Rhyfield Memorial Hospital.

This will be my last update for a week or so... I have been trying to get them all done today!

    Transit Systems

    Harrington International Airport

Harrington International Airport is Hockington's only airport. It provides a vital link for commuters and travellers alike and has recently undergone a major upgrade.

    Harrington International Airport

In the recent upgrades to the airport Runway 9R, the General Aviation area and the New Air Traffic Control Towers were added. Previously the airport did not cross the river which still flows freely despite the airports new developments [i used arched bridges to give the illusion that the river flows under the land]. Before the renovations the Runway 9L (previously Runway 9) was the only one servicing the airport making landing a peak times very hectic. Included in the renovations was a further extension to the international terminal and some Aviation Services buildings near the General Aviation Area. Runway 9L has also had landing procedure changes with a northern approach now reserved for emergencies only due to the proximity to the new air traffic control tower and a displaced threshold for southern approach due to possible interuption of residents to the south of the airport.

    International Terminal

The new extensions to the International terminal included the addition of an arm with five aerobridges. The new arm is on the left of the picture above.

    Domestic Terminal

    General Aviation Area

    Old Air Traffic Control Tower

The old air traffic control tower is now used by security as it has afull view of 78% of the airports perimetre fence.

    New Air Traffic Control Tower

As you can see the new ATC is very close to the path of flighs landing from the north on runway 9L. Therefore Northern approach is reserverd for emergencies only on this runway.
