Airport & Highway Question

hey guys. just one quick question. when do you usually start building highways and airports in your cities. i just built a small muncipal airport in my city of 40,000. i dunno if thats fine. if it is when should i replace it with a larger one??? also when should i start building highways?

personelly...i skip the airports...their just eye candy and cap relief, no transit bonus to them really ( my opoin they lack the bonus for their size), they also cause crime that can never be stopped...even placing a police stations around the airport

as for highways...i ussually put the in about 50-100K population on a med size map...they help speed up comute time inside the city and for inner-city travel...plus they are great cap relief bonus 100k com per first city to city connection (drops off rapidly after that per conection to same city)

really depends when you can afford them and the cost of reconstruction if you haven't left proper space for them

I put an airport in when the sims start whining for one. I don't think they do much, but they add a bit of diversity to the cityscape, and they are a great place to zone some low-income residential slums around.

i nearly always stick an airport in my metropolis type cities, no city is complete without 1. however with agricultural cities ~well 'towns'  and industrial cities ill skip them
