First of all thanks to Yellowlab & Beebs for their clear instructions in the "How to..." thread.   However I am still having a dickens of a time getting my signature to reflect my link.

I did the following:  (and I quote)

2. How to: Add a Link to Your Signature

Source: Beebs

1. In your profile editing screen, find the space for your sig. Type in the following code:

[ L = ] url [ / L ]

minus the spaces.

2. Between the = and the ], type in your text.

3. Replace "url" with the web address of your link.

4. For example: [ L = Wikipedia! ] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page [ / L ]

creates this link:

>>>Wikipedia!<<<

5. Obviously, this works in the forums as well.

------

It didn't quite work for me.  Everytime I typed my links into my signature both the HTML  along with description and the URL would change.  It used to add something with an <a>  and other instructions to this.  I'm now no longer noticing this and I am noticing that my profile no longer changes after I update.   However my attempts at adding a link still aren't working.  I do copy fr WORD, which has presented it's own challenges in my posts, including some weird smileys out of the blue.  However I decided not to do this with my signature.  Here is what  I posted in the profile and we can see what shows up in my signature.:

[L = "Getting Started in Driftwood... a Sim Diary from Purple Daddy" ] https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=117&threadid=75700&enterthread=y [/L]

(but this came fr WORD too, so I have no idea how this will show up in the post).

We have a lot of talented members here.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

MarcosMX, are you sure it isn't working?

Because the links in your signature are working fine, and you have colour, which means your RIch Text editor must be working.   After you click update profile, it just refreshes the page, it doesn't take you anywhere, if thats your problem.

    Good luck, choco.

I don't see it, either in the Reply window or the Update Profile window (for signatures)

Well, I haven't broken this out in a while, but I use to make signatures for people here on ST. I have a feeling that I could make it for you, send it to you in a PM, and you could copy in to your signature. Let me know what you want, how you want it, and what you might want in the way of links 2.gif and I'll make it up for you.

FireFox gives me an entire menu of stuff I've never seen before, including the Insert Link button.

    Thanks Beebs. 9.gif

What you will need to do is to get someone to make the link for you and copy it and send it to you.  I did this for another member, and it seemed to work.  (I'd do it for you also, but unfortunately, I don't have the time right now to do it).15.gif
