xloveispainx...Ummm what? You're explanation seemed to be tirade filled with misinterpretations, and racist undertones. You can have your say, but lets not use the words barbarians or other terminology used to belittle people, there's no need for that. I will however say this about your statement. 1. Albanians who currently live in Kosovo are the descendants from Illyrian tribes, and people who have lived in the Balkan peninsula, longer than the Slavs (myself included). They have been the majority in Kosovo since the late 1800s, and were part of the Ottoman empire until 1913, when they were integrated into Serbia, and not Slovenia as you have stated, which shares no border or historical ties to Kosovo, other than it was both part of Illiricum, and Yugoslavia. So insisting that they are of Iraqi or Iranian descent is genetically and historically wrong. To say also that Kosovars' destroyed all the churches in Kosovo, is to discount facts, and physical evidence. While there was unease over the religious difference in Kosovo and Serbia, many ethnic Albanians are members of both the Albanian Orthodox church, and as well as Roman Catholics. To say that all of the churches were destroyed in "Serbia" once again not Slovenia, is to deny the fact that in Prizren, Pristina, Kosovski Mitrovica, and other areas have large Christian populations, and churches as well as monasteries in Kosovo have their foundational churches intact. 2. To say that if the people of South Ossetia, and Abkhazia deserve self determination and independence, then didn't the people of Chechnya deserve that same right, as well as Kosovo? To say that Georgia's response was over whelming in brutality, can't the same be said of Grozny's bombardment by the Russian military in both the first Chechen war and the Second Chechen war, which had caused more casualties in those conflicts than the total population that occupies South Ossetia? 3. To also say that reporters in the Western world, have been fabricating lies, and not reporting the truth as Russian television NTV, Channel 1, and others have would be very inaccurate. What about the Kremlin's strict control over Russian media following the rise of Putin in 1999? Ana Politkoskaya's murder, the firing of news journalists critical to Putin, or Medveedev? The barring and arrest of Gary Kasparov on multiple occasions, as well as Nashi and Yediniy Rossiya supporters brutalizing opposition supporters during various rallies? Russia's push into Georgia was a calculated move, following weeks of fly overs by Russian Sukhoi SU-27s, and the paramilitary of South Ossetias repeated raids and incursions as well as captures of Georgian soldiers over the past two months was a coordinated attack and systematic destruction of the Georgian integrity. I find it highly impossible that just 4 hours after Georgian troops began their push to retake South Ossetia, Russia was able to mobilize 10,000 infantry as well as over 100 T-72 and T-64 tanks to a region the size of Rhode Island, in a Russian empire twice the size of Canada. This was also made further by the estimate that between 4,000 and 8,000 Russian troops entered Abkhazia in a matter of less than 16 hours after the fighting in South Ossetia had started. The final thing I have to say is how can you insist that no Georgian civilians were killed by Russian forces, the town of Gori, Josef Stalin's birthplace, was sacked occupied, and barraged from the skies by the Russian air force.

Do you which other buildings you will make? I would like to see the Old Palace, Serbian National Bank, Beogradjanka, or the Parliament of Serbia.

Archbishop sparks Sharia law row in UK
bosnianman replied to belfastuniguy's topic in Current Events
As an American Muslim, I think that introducing Sharia laws is just plain ridiculous. The laws are open to interpretation, but since the only countries that use them are countries where Wahabi school of thought is used(and Iran), they feel the need to interpret the laws, even though there are many Muslims who disagree with them, then those types of laws would be introduced. I find it annoying the way British Muslims act, they see the plight and poverty of their people and instead of working to correct it, by trying trying to progress peacefully, many simply put external blame on Britain, and others instead of trying to correct the problems of poverty and race relations. So adding these laws to me is in essence moving away from moderate/ liberal Muslim societies (Turkey, the western Balkan nations', much of Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and parts of Singapore) and instead moving closer to tyrannical Muslim societies such as Iran and Saudi Arabia. His statements to me represent the large view of extremist British Muslims who themselves should not be the mouth piece for all British Muslims. I live in the US and am both an immigrant and a Muslim, and here the sentiments among Muslims seems to be very different from British Muslims. If they want certain changes, such as allowing call to prayer to be allowed, that is fine, but changing a countries laws to suit some upset fanatics is very wrong in my opinion. -
Im upset, no Marvin Harrison killed em'.

No we repair the dam, people's lives are at stake. Anything at all you can say like "oh why should we use our money to fix something over there" is irrelevant, well then why did we use our money to destroy their houses? If we spend over 553billion a year on killing people (military) then why cant we spend a couple hundred million or even a billion to fix a dam to save lives? People's lives should be more valuable than money, and if you don't share that opinion, then experience war and have your country destroyed and see if you feel the same about moneys value over lives.

Idk who said it, but whoever said earlier that in the Koran it says to kill others that don't follow Islam, I honestly don't know how you can say that ignorant of a statement. This notion conceived by right wingers and others that Islam preaches violence is an incredibly wrong statement. To say that a religion promotes violence against others is amazingly ingnorant, if we truly want to categorize an entire religion by a small group of angered extremists is amazing. There are 1.4+ billion Muslims in the world, to put all Muslims in that category as terrorists for the actions of a few hundred, or thousand is an awful comparison to make. If we were to do that then we would also call all Catholics mass genocidal murders for the Spanish mass killing and converting of many Native Americans, as well we could say that all Christians are anti-semitic people for the genocide by Christian Germans against the Jews during the holocaust.

Well here's my main problem with people attacking him about the whole wanting to visit the 9-11 site and speaking at the UN, what did he or Iran do to be attacked by American people and the mass media? I mean Iran a Shi'ite Muslim country did not support the Sunni Muslim led Al-Qaeda, nor did it help arm or plan the attacks on the WTC and Pentagon. Also what has he done to the US? We have fears that Iran is formulating nuclear weapons technology, but we also said the same thing about Iraq, and look how that played out. The US gets infuriated that Iran isn't telling us about its nuclear or weapons secrets, but has the US been all revealing about its military intents? Absolutely not, and especially not since the Bush administration took power. So what has he and Iran done? Have they attacked US soil? NO! Have they threatened to kill Americans? NO! They have allegedly helped Shi'ite militias in Iraq, but theres no proof of it, no substantial undeniable evidence of it. So how much fear of Iran has been created by the Bush administration to create a perpetuated fear of one day attacking the country and thus being able to wave a victory flag with the jaws of defeat closing in on us in Iraq?

Well what would happen in the world to spark a third global conflict? Would it be the emergence of China? Would it be the resurgence of Russia into the global forum? The explosion of the middle-east into a further bloodier fight between the pro west forces (Israel and Saudi Arabia) versus the eastern backed factions (Iran and Syria and their militant allies; Hezbullah)? Or would it be the worst scenario for the western world, an alliance of China, Russia, and their alliance of regional powers? Personally I feel it would be the last one. This I think would be due to the countries or powers allied in a circle, each state willing to flex its military and resources to maintain and expand their wealth. The larger countries might reach fundamental breaking points with the other global powers, thus backing their regional allies with troops, funding, and material, causing their enemy to do the same. This is the only scenario I can imagine the world descending into "World War III". As for Canada becoming part of the US, it seems highly improbable. Canada would never allow its self to be absorbed into a larger state handing over its independence and autonomous powers to a larger federal government.
