Well uninstalling the NAM and reinstalling it again without doing the same to the game didnt work my game again crashed the moment i was about to place a busstop for some reason i had that feeling it would do that in the previous cities i played but it never quit till just now, ill keep on playing to see how often it crashes if it does it another time ill just uninstall the whole game and my saved cities *rolls eyes* AGAIN, a person said if this keeps happening he said i have to reformat my HD >> do i have to do that really? or its just the game's NAM.

Hmmm i have over 500mbs of Plugin downloads in my folder and so far the game hasnt crashed, perhaps it has to do something with the NAM's instaleld settings for example, the Automata settings or commute pathfinding, my game started to crash right away because i put the nam to have at least 10x better pathfinding and radical automata made my game so unstable it crashed so soon, so i uninstalled the NAM and reinstalled it again with standard settings and now it works fine, of course thats just my answer if it has to do something with the NAM. But if it starts to crash over on big cities, just do what i did, i reinstalled th game again but of course deleted all my saved cities, i dont know if saving them might cause the game to go unstable >>

Game crashing (possible due to NAM)

Well you may have a point but you see i uninstalled the game and reinstall it deleting all my saved cities, i know this because i only played one or 2 cities with the NAM before it started crashing, even so the game never crashed as i played the city that causes most crashes, nor the next one, the game worked perfectly without any problems i read the readme files of the NAM and discovered that most of the crashes from the game were cuz of the NAM. If the game crashes next time, then i guess ill uninstall it and reinstall it again same with the NAM too. I just hope it doesnt crash >< its alot of work, i already deleted lots of my downloads that i know may of contribute to a few crashes. Also do BATs, lots, or modds with missing plugis can cause the game to Crash? -

Ah well i concluded my experiment i uninstalled the NAM and reinstalled it again but this time the settings for the Automata and Commute were set to Standard normally and i didnt include the ANT plugin and so far that fixed the problem because the game did not crashed while playing the German city "Konradshohe" that often causes most crashes during the game play, Well its really any large city with alot of traffic problems, and now i remember that i put the commute option to a higher setting when i installed the newest NAM the first time, leading to the crashes a few weeks ago. During Game play there were moments where the game sort of freezes for 1 to 2 seconds but that only happened during constructions, traffic increasing, day light switching to nighttime, and navigating, i tried not hovering the cursor alot but the game never crashed nor quit to desktop so i guess it was the NAM's settings been to high. Any other problem that comes up with the crashing would be cuz of the NAM but that doesnt usually happen to me after a year or so the first 6 months go smooth. -

Im gonna uninstall the NAM and reinstall it again hope that works cuz a friend told me if uninstalling the game and reinstalling it doesnt work then i might have to reformat my HD but i dont think it can go that far can it? Oh well i hope it works this time, i think the last time i install it back in April i did choose a faster commuting option on the automata and maybe the reason why it started to crash in so little time, not to mention i also added the ANT plugin >> so i guess that might of explain it, i hope it works this time. Also will there be a fix to the GLR pieces in the next NAM to stop all the crashing? Because sometimes its not only the GLR pieces but other NAM road pieces too that makes the game unstable too. -

Also Game crashed to me just right now and i recently installed it, it happened while i was playing in the city of "Konradshohe" in the Berlin Region for some reason it has done that several times in the past before i dont know if that certain city lot has a bug in it or makes the game so unstable in a way that as it develops so fast to a metropolis it makes the game play slow down >> or i dont know, does this has to do something with the way i install the NAM to an above speed when it comes to the Automata thing when your installing it and choosing the commuting speeds, i choosed something rather speedy >> Could that be the cause to the sudden rapid crashes? if so can it be fix by uninstalling the NAM and reinstalling it back with STANDARD settings for the Automata? -
Game crashing (possible due to NAM)

I think that started happening to me, sadly i couldn't find no auto save method so best thing i did was back up all my plugins and uninstall the game and deleted all the saved cities, then reinstall it again and used my back up plugins and somehow the game doesn't crash anymore, i don't know where i heard this but someone said that Sim City 4 game can often become unstable and start to slow or crash at random to occasional points, so yeah although its strange how i just barely installed mine in April and just a few weeks ago it started becoming unstable the length period was to short compare to last year >>. Still last year the game started crashing after i used the TRAM from the NAM in away when laying down its tracks and this happened twice, when i layed the certain piece of the Tram that was an intersection with the railroad it stopped right away and exit to my desktop, after that i didn't wanted to try that move again seeing as how the game ran smoothly as long as i didnt used the tram pieces from the NAM but then again forgetting it i used it again and it crashed, sadly after that event the game started to give those nasty bad habit crashes+exit to desktop moments that pissed me off a lot, so i went to ask for help on google and found an article bout someone explaining the game's instability after a few plays, however I'm guessing the game becomes more unstable as hell if you add a lot of downloads and modds which I'm guessing messes up the game's script play leading to those crashes more faster than usual >> either that or just a bug in the game's system files that still haven't been identified. So my suggestion is just uninstalled the game and for safety delete your saved cities (as that sometimes can be the problem but its hard to pint point which exactly) and back up your plugins from both directories then reinstall the game again. (P.S. Don't forget to uninstall the NAM first then install that one after you install the game and its updates) -
Cool! i like it, we have the same style of Traffic lights in my town except the main 5 light traffic signal doesnt hang its layed parallel to the poles its on and has a lil black extension cover on its edges to make it look bigger or something i call it a plastic wig around and the yellow lights are in the middle 2 and same for the green and one red light.

Sim City 4 keeps shutting down... why?
cyber_panda replied to iamcanadian031's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
You have hi-jacked this thread. Your problem is not relevant to this discussion. Please copy it and start a new thread of your own for your problem. N_O_Bndy. I wanted to say that this was my first time my Sim City 4 Crash to my desktop and it involve using one piece of the NAM that i used before and made it crash the one piece i knew had some sort of instability and it was the GLR tram pieces that when i used one that involve intersection of a railroad BOOM! just like that the game stop i couldnt even do anythng. Ive used the game to its max and never quit, ive navigate to the point where it freezes but never crashed it just slowed down but kept going, i know theres related crashes where its cuz of the graphics, sound or just because of a certain plugin, but to men this was cuz of the NAM and same before and i dont know why but i guess they couldnt fix the bugs out of the TRAM issues. Another reason why your Game quites by itself its cuz it may not be the graphics card or driver, or sound or anything to do with a bad driver, if you updated everything and still does that, it could be the hardware's configuration in the BIOS, to me that was the case, and that was my X factor to all my computer's uexpected crashes, Photoshop Crashing, The Sims 2 Quitting, it was all a Memory Problem and the way my CPU Processor was configure in the BIOS, after i did that small change it stop doing the random crashes in the Sims 2 and my computer stopped Giving bluescreens. The Solution is to go to the Bios and set the Processor's speed to its Original and also make sure that the Mhz acceleration of your RAM is not set on a higher or lower # than what its supposed to be, for example. My CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ with its original speed of 1.83Ghz and a Ram of 1.00GB with 166Mhz My custom settings since my brother built it was a frequency of 190 (in the Bios for the CPU) and my CPU's speed was running at 2.09Ghz and the Virtual Ram's speed was at 152Mhz somehow around November since Last year it started giving me so many crashes and couldnt run Sim City 4 anymore and i started to mess around with my PC till just a few weeks ago i resolved the problem when i came across the BIOS and set the CPU speed to 166 which ironicly the Virtual Ram set it self to that same # only at 166Mhz which was its right speed, since then my PC has been running great and no more crashes have occur, oh yeah i think my BIOs version is a Phoenix Awards something i need to read more about that but im sure all the BIOS programs have something related when it comes to setting the Hardware's configuration. Also i should put there that i Reinstalled Windows XP 3 Times and it still crashed, it did good after a few days to trick me but then it started with the same problems worst cuz it was WIndows XP Home Edition with SP2 even with Windows XP Pro with SP1 it gave me the same problems and it all turn out to be a simple hardware configuration problem in the BIOS. NOTE to all of those that knew this crap already plz ignore this >> im just a ***** that manage to get things fixed on its own and im only wishing to help those that were like me in the beginning when no one else can help them i want to make a change there. -
