The spread of nuclear arms is the biggest threat to humanity. No one should have them. They should be illegal across the globe. "Deterrent" my arse. It just creates a race to get them. Seriously? Fiorina is a horrible person, top to bottom. Just look at what she did to HP, leaving with a lovely umbrella package after putting so many out of work. CA hates her and with reason. Not to mention her made-up 'viewing' of Planned Parenthood videos that she could never prove or provide (because they don't exist). That Cruz would even designate a VP shows just how slimy and desperate he is. No one in his own Party likes him. He is a snake oil solution with extra snake. Even his 'deal' with Kasich is a sign that he will do anything to gain ground, but he is still a loser. IGT

As to arms, wouldn't that be great? Unfortunately, it won't happen so long as we love our guns and sell them to anyone. IGT

Totally! I don't in any way mean to dismiss/degrade Prince. I just miss Bowie. I grew up on both and When Doves Cry was one of my favorite songs in elementary. =) IGT

Prince was a great musician and I grew up listening to most of his hits. However, I wouldn't compare him to greats like Mozart or Beethoven. I think Bowie is leagues more appropriate. =)

Yeah, we have a copy of Mérimée at home, but I admit I have not read it. Perhaps I will when the mood is right. I've seen a lot of different operas, so I have a basic knowledge of many of them. I would never pretend to be an expert, though. Sometimes I find the presentations irritating when they "modernize" it. That just strikes me as wrong. I think I'm going to have to listen to Prince today. He was too young. IGT -

I wouldn't be too surprised if Big Bangs were cyclical, and I agree we wouldn't be around to know it. With regard to chaos/entropy, I do think that it cannot exist without an element of order because of natural laws. Chaos is a wild thing, but it can't help but give birth to some order. It really is all physics. IGT

A lot of people who argue there is a God asks a lot of the same questions, but the answer is right in front of them. Apologists then make arguments to fulfill this lack of knowledge. For example, common questions are "how did things come to be?" or "why is there Evil?" or "Am I destined for this (or that)?". It is all pretty silly. Basic answers to the three examples are below. 1) Chemistry. Organic Biology. The "fire and brimstone" of early Earth. All the components were there. 2) It was a major issue early on, before the creation of "Free Will" by apologists who needed to maintain control. 3) There is no such thing as destiny, especially if you buy into Free Will. One cannot be free to choose a course but expect that it is their fate to do so. Anyway, I will stop my rant. IGT

I also think that Thomas Paine was under-appreciated. He wrote several works that were quite influential on me. Then I moved to Bertrand Russel and Madeleine O'Hair (sp?). Folks need to realize, though, that many of our Founding Fathers were not Christian. They were Deists. Tom Paine is just the most notable example. IGT
