Will this processor be good enough for simcity 2013?
ferryv replied to mattynick's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Intel and AMD are both good. Depends were you use it for. For gaming there is not much difference (no game use an i7 optimal) it also depends if a game is build on intel or amd. Like WoW is build on AMD while SimCity is build on Intel. But yes im also more fan of the intel i5/i7 series than the bulldozer serie. But the late phenom series were great from AMD with much prices than intel could give (end of core2duo /core2quad time) -
You releasing a demo then that people can try? Your going in a radical new direction here and of course, people aren't going to shell out the price of a full game for something they don't like the sound of and asking them to buy it on faith. Maxis is releasing a beta version soon (http://www.simcity.com/en_US/beta/info) here you can get the feeling of how the new SimCity is gonna be. Just sign yourself up for the closed beta and experience it yourself.

now just hoping that they will write a good 64bit SimCity for optimal quadcore pleasure. Because still alot of games dont take advantage of quad. But for gaming always go around 3GHz. But GHz is not everything (threads, cache, FBS, nm, TDP etc) just make sure that you go for a now-a-day CPU technology (Intel 2nd gen i5/i7 or AMD FX-serie) But a E2160 is probably playing on low settings. Like OscramSeattle says make sure your GPU is better than a GF7900. If you have any upgrade questions you can always PM me. good luck -
SimCity Inside: The Business of the Global Market
ferryv posted a topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Hi There, Did you read the blog on SimCity Inside about the global market? (http://www.simcity.com/en_US/insider/blog/article/The-Business-of-the-Global-Market) Stone Librande, the Lead Designer of SimCity, is talking about de Beta version They want to test the Global Market during the Beta. I must say it sounds pretty sweet. Building a traiding depot and if your city trades more even build a trade harbour And the example of buying raw material like ore and melt it to metal and sell it for a profit. This new feauture of Global Market maybe bring an extra cool dimension to SimCity. How do you feel about this extra option? Greetings, FerryV -
Thanks for sharing this link

I dont think they are allowed. At gamescom this was not allowed (thats why you dont see any gameplay on youtube now) Had my camera with me to record.. but a couple of good looking maxis girls prevented me from filming the gameplay

Is the MMO dying? New SimCity (2013) will survive?
ferryv replied to Netuno's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
SC4 is still popular because of the modding community, however, I don't think it's also because of no multiplayer. I would love multiplayer in SC4, I know some members have tried using Dropbox, so clearly I'm not the only one. Sorry, when I said multiplayer I meant online only, EA would have shut the servers down years ago. I have nothing against multiplayer, is the always online what bothers me. I would probably like the multiplayer option in it. And always online is no problem because im always online But they should must a law/promise that the servers will stay online for an x years.. or when a company takes down a server they should give community servers an option. About MMO's. I think there still populair. Yes WoW is declining from 10.2milion to 9.1milion users. But Diablo III sold more that 10milion copies (alot of WoW players) and just read the news that guild wars 2 stops selling new copies because there servers cant handle the growning numbers of new players. So imo MMO is still populair and the way future games will be more and more (because of the income / anti piracy) -
No worries, man! Smart thinking. Can't argue with that logic. Have fun wherever you are! Soon! I know the wait has been long, but it's coming. Trust me! Sweet! If you stop by, definitely say hello! Yeah, this show certainly isn't the grand spectacle that was Gamescom as we're sharing the booth with our buds at NVIDIA. Still really stoked more people get to play the game. Did you have a chance to play the game in Germany? Yes offcourse, SimCity was the reason i went to gamescom.. I also wrote a positive review about it: Again, great job for being interactive on the forum here. Any luck you can give us a hint about the release date of the beta? Greetings, FerryV

Only two playable stations?! Good thing i went to GamesCom in Germany

SimCity Inside: The Business of the Global Market
ferryv replied to ferryv's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I know what you mean (empty spaces, terraforming, saving cities online etc) but i just try to look at the positive things. That they making SimCity at first is already positive for me. That its build by Maxis is great. And that i played the Alpha and liked it was even better I think the end result is not gonna be totaly like i want it to be. But im sure its gonna be a fantastic game, next to my fav. SC4 game. And maybe its even gonna be my SC4 killer. (fingers crossed) Thanks anyway for your feedback -
Hi Arabguy, Why wont you just sign up and find out? If you get junk that you dont want from EA you can always unsubsribe (bottom of newsletter) I think Maxis post the most usefull information in the blog and now also on SimCity inside (http://www.simcity.com/en_US/insider/blog) On their facebook page they have some fun pictures (from GamesCom and whatnot) and on twitter they say where they put new information about the game. Didnt see any tweet about the newsletter. If a newsletter contains realy usefull info people would post it also forums. But again, sure if you want just sign up yourself for the newsletter. Greetings, FerryV Ps. i unsubscribed myself from EA because i also got all info about other games.

I was playing single player. I had only my map (and a piece a intercity highway) i coudnt see the regoin / world. But i have high hopes for a nice multiplayer. This is for everybody thats saying im not gonna buy it / or wait six months with it: Even alot of people dont want it or even dont buy the game because it goes trough origin. I think its an cool and new feature. Offcourse i do most of the playing in private regions. but how cool is it to make together a region I must admit that the empty space between cities are worrying me a bit. And i dont like either that you have no totall controll between cities But im sure Maxis come up with good ideas. They still have alot of time to change some stuff. And maybe if this is a negative part of the game i would still buy it. A new City Builder is always good. And if everybody buys it than they give Maxis a good reason to improve the game / make a new SimCity. So if your a true SimCity lover you would buy it. Even when you have reasons to think SimCity4 is better just buy it. Support Maxis, the same company that gave you the great SimCity4 that youve played for 10.000 of hours for only €50,-. Support the company that made and makes great games so that even in the future they can make even greater versions. Ps. i didnt bought SimCity Societies because it didnt attract me, but more important: it wasnt from Maxis. If it was from Maxis i would have bought it (and maybe never played it) Greetings FerryV -

Can you designate zoning yourself or is it only automatic? Yes you can point out were you want zoning. But instead of fixt sizes (like SC4 1x1, 1x2, 1x3) it now desides the size how you build the road layout. So the roadlayout desicdes the form of the zone option (handy with curve roads so you dont have empty spots) but you still deside yourself if en were you wanna zone. In this Alpha version the zoning was dependable on your road structure (not like SC4 road structure dependable on zoning) -

ferryv replied to ferryv's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Hmm, so you can't have different zones in one block? :/ I hope they change that, because it's odd having commercial on a main road and also on a little lane behind it which is meant to service residential... Hey there, No you can do that.. no problem. Thats just my drawing. If you want you can mix everything. So if you want commercial on your main roads and inmidiatly behind it residential thats possible. Its just a tactic that i dont use so much (mostly i just put a smaller road in between) Sorry for not being clear on that. -

Yes it was much better than the trailers. The commercial area was more a concrete jungle, the industry area more a dirt(y) area and my green neighboorhood a perfect place for a picknick. Here is a quote from my review "My residential neighborhood was with a lot of gardens and green. But the houses closer to the commercial zone were more dense and were as my commercial area more of concrete. It was beautiful. Not like you see on the trailer with high skyscrapers and a grass garden around it." Hopes this anwser your question. -

Hi there, I got a question from a SimCity fan about zoning if i could give an example how it works. So i made a sketch how it works in the Alpha version. Note: maybe in final version its gonna be a bit different / more options. But for now just lcheck out the sketches i made because pictures are saying more than words -

Hi Michael Donahoe (Maxis) Thanks for your compliment. What great to see Maxis on the forum of simtropolis. So maybe they see more than we think? Anyway, just keep the SimCity blog alive and fill the insider part with cool stuff and im happy. Can you also give us a small hint when you think the beta is gonna be released? (and make sure me and the others from this post are between the lucky onces?) Good luck on the rest of GamesCom Greetings, FerryV Yep, a lot of Maxis folk frequent Simtropolis! And don't you worry about keeping the blog/Insider alive -- lots of stuff in the pipeline. Regarding the Beta, I don't have any specifics right now, but I can say we'll be revealing more info soon. And when we do, I'll let y'all know. Super. Thanks alot and good luck with everything. -

Hey Jdbknpchi, I played today the Alpha version @ gamescom. In the end i got a meteor shower over me. Also in the trailers you see godzilla a ufo taking away a building. So that are already 3 disasters i know thats gonna be in there. There will be problably more (tornado, maybe fload, inferno!?) See the rest of my review about the alpha version: I anwser also questions there.

8 Thanks for liking my review. To anwser your questions: My terrain was pretty standard. No mountains, no river, just land with beautiful trees. It was not totaly flat but nice buildable ground. Like i wrote somewhere before i didnt see anything form the region (exept a part of a regional highway) So no i didnt see anything interesting -

Hey Xenocity. Always go for PC version (Mac is gonna be a portal) EA games that are developed together for PC/Mac come out fine on both OSes. I had no problems with Spore or Sims 3 on my Mac OS. Though if I install it on my Windows partition, I'll play it less like I do Simcity 4. (this a good thing, since I am addicted to Simcity). Anyone know how to change a Window parition on a Mac without screwing up Windows? Im a board-level-engeneer with notebooks. But i can also help with software problems. Lets go on the chat om simtropolis. I can help you there. -

Haha, your welcome. I love helping other simcity fans. Im pretty disapointed in all the media though. So much media there (wednesday was even media only day) and there is almost nothing on youtube. Just a couple of interviews with always the same questions! #$% Owh what also just pops in my mind and forgot to tell. there was one button with all the specials. It was locked for me playing with it but i could see it. It was the casino, the university, the coal hq etc. to specialize your city. But this is all OPTIONAL. The city i build was NATUREL. I had a industry area, a residential area and a nice commercial area with a city hall. So again. Spcialze your city is not a must! Maybe you can even mix stuff not sure. -

Yes it was a satisfying experience. Also i was skeptical till a couple of days before GamesCom (last trailer did me good as well) You still miss alot in my review because there is just to much to write. After this i will post an email i just sended to a other SimCity fan (he sended me some qestions for Maxis @ GamesCom) But for now your questions first: - My City tile was not that big. Forgot to write that in my review. But only prox 20% was build so i have more than enough space for 20minutes. I didnt fill it all up. If you compare it with SC4 it was between a small and medium map. But it still was clearly a alpha version. I didnt even had a region or something yet! But hopefully this anwser your question. The bad part was that i didnt talk to Maxis There were a couple of people walking arbound making sure you didnt took pictures and explained to the rookies how to build a road. Those guys couldnt anwser any serious questions. The tiles were kind of automatic in size. I build the roads, and said were i wanted zoning and what kind of zoning. The zoning its self was done by glassbox. The positive side is that you dont have any empty spaces (like Cities XL \ As also seen in trailer Maxis) negative side is that i dont know if and how much control of zoning i will lose with this system. Because i didnt play long enough en again its only an alpha version you cant really tell it yet. For my first City in the new engine it didnt bother me. It even surpriced me (because i didnt like the empty spaces in the trailer) If you have anymore qestions please aks. EMAIL FROM SIMFAN281 Read your comment box! http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/The-Curvy-Road-to-Gamescom Thanks for helping out Internet People for demo next week for FAQ. I have my below. I hope English Lang American is ok.... here is questions below 1. I want to know if there is Sewage/Waste Plants can reduce water ground pollution in SimCity kind of like in SimCity 4. 2. Are we able lay down City Substation Power Centers from Main Power Plants without dragging all those power lines? 3. Are we getting see Rain/Weather to recycle water in the ground so resources don’t dry up? 4. What kind stadiums are we having like Baseball Stadium, Soccer, I did see the new Arena Stadium with Monster Cars. 5. Are the Main Roads are easy to upgradable from Side Street, to Avenue Street and for Highways are they both Above Ground and Ground Highways with On/Off Ramps? 6. Are Metro Light Rails, Heavy Rails have Above Ground to Ground and Underground Tunnels? 7. Are we able to Turn Off Camera Effects? From, SimFan281 ANSWER TO HIS EMAIL: Hey SimFan281, I came back from GamesCom 2012 and i played the alpha version of SimCity 2013! Because i wanna share my experiance with other fans i posted my review on simtroplis and simcity.com (see links in end of the email) Unfortunately i didnt speak anyone from Maxis. So i coundnt ask any questions The only things i could anwser is based on own experiance. 1: There was a water cleaning plant but i couldnt build it (locked) so yes im almost for sure you can reduce water pollution 2: I didnt drag one powerline! The whole city got powerd by agents. Same was water. But ive also seen powerlines in the trailers. Maybe a funny detail for you: i build 2 powerplants in my city. A coal and a windmill farm. both were in other area's of the city. I even upgraded my windmill farm. Great experiance! 3: Didnt see any rain. Hope there is gonna be. dont want to run out of water. 4: I had a couple of parks at my desposal (only build one im sorry) but there was a basketball field and a soccer field if i remember well. 5: I coudnt figure out a way to upgrade. So dont get you hopes up to much. I also think its difficult because the roads / avenues had different sizes. 6: Wasnt included in this version yet. Only a (probably) still non functional lightrail on avenue. 7: Didnt see that anywere. But i have to say it works pretty nice (mouse + keyboard) Hopefully this anwser some of your questions. Again thanks for your questionair. I will also post this on Simtropolis so other can read it as well. Greetings, FerryV -
