Thank you, I am taking steps to fix that problem. I am hopinh to have a new pic very soon.

It was looking at that site that really inspired me to do this project, but thank you for the link.

Some of my first BATs / LOTs were not the greatest, but because of the incoragement, I was willing to keep getting better. Because of the suggestions, I knew how.

Railrod7 - You are most welcome. Silvermac - Thank you very much. I am getting close to a release on the first set. I am working on the diagonal pieces, then I will be doing one or two pieces to handle elevation changes.

Date: 1/14/2006 4:42:02 AM Author: Mickebear I am also impressed by this - it is not beautiful and I would never download it, but it is very realistic, attention to detail is great, and you have succeeded with your textures. As I said, love the idea of realism - but probably not for my towns... or maybe in some deprived areas of Istrinia quote> Thank you very much. And never fear, I plan to do a version you may want to download.

Date: 1/13/2006 12:59:38 AM Author: Cjah Very L.A. indeed... I don't want to speak ill of your person, but I thought these wouldn't get this far when this first started and now it looks very close to the final product...but then again you may just surprise me and everyone else... Great job on the plants!awesome multi barrels and shopping carts! quote> Thank you very much. Here is yet a new pic, close to the final product for the (dirty) ditches now. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//RLM%20Ditch%20v3.jpg align=baseline>

Date: 1/11/2006 4:58:23 PM Author: JayStimson Date: 1/11/2006 3:17:14 PM Author: RebaLynnTS Your second choice is basicly what I do. As you can see, the further below ground level the model is, the further it needs to extend past the LOD. Also if you make your models into Props, and not buildings, they work a bit better. I made a .1x.1x.1 model, with a map at 0 opacity (so it was invisible) and put it on the lot as the building. I set the prop to 'Query as main Building'. This works really well for me. quote> Do you have a general rule of thumb you use for how far out to extend the model past the LOD per meter below ground level ? Also, my models are all props and I use a 'dummy building' that's 'hidden', e.g. invisible. quote> So far I have not developed a rule, but the water in my model is 2meters down and I had to make the extention 1.5 meters.

Date: 1/10/2006 1:12:10 AM Author: cowkilla here you are from good ol wikipidia trees in la river quote> I should be able to do something along those lines.

The vending macines on the STEX turned out to be props, and not models, so I will make my own.

There are models of vending machines on the STEX, I'll download those. I can do some oil drums as well. Anything else you want to make to add to this would be great.

Date: 1/9/2006 6:00:11 PM Author: Cjah Wow that shopping cart is amazing, but if I may throw out some information.... There are alot of shopping carts in our rivers.....Maybe as many as 5 per every couple of yards, but for realism' sake you should have like 2 or 3 max on a lot,but that is just my advice from what I've seen around here.... Maybe just make a lot with one cart then a few tiles down the river a tile with 2 or 3 could be added....it'd be pretty perfect.... These are just the ditches, of course, but I can add more. Each lot has 6 variations so they do not look overly tiled, and they plop randomly. There won't be much control over when a shopping cart or two will show up. I am also accepting any other models of flotsum (due credit will be given) that anyone wants to add them.
-
CDI_spy ... thank you very much. Buggi ... Please note the seams in the small ditches, in this pic. sparkythepenguin ... Note the addition of your shpping cart. Thank you so much. Here is the newest photo.
-
I now know how to do porp families .. yayyyy! I am going to concentrate on the ditch series and post it as soon as it is done.
-
Sparky - Yes I did, I can do something like that. Buggi - I do plan to handle elevation changes, and see if I can do some slope pieces.
-
Here is a pic of the ditches with the new textures. I am going to add some more variation in the pieces, as well as a fresh water version, then post them. https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//RLM_LA%20River_v19.jpg align=baseline>

Big pack of the bests lot files ?
RebaLynnTS replied to SuperBeber's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I can only speak for my self, but I plan to put all my BATs / LOTs on a CD and offer it for a nominal fee. But this is somewhat in the future, as yet. -
I would be honored to put your shopping cart in the rivers I sent you a PM with my email address.
-
Just reading this thread has taught me so very much ... thanks SG and all.

I know what you mean, the chain link fences I made had to be a bit exagerated to show up close to the way I wanted them too. I tried to make a hubcap to put in the water, but it was so small you could hardly see it.

Date: 1/7/2006 9:40:44 PM Author: railrod7 Wowwee Great concrete look and lovely dirty water!!!! While I was flying over L.A. (Google rather) I noticed many avenue four-way intersections with the river running diagonally under the entire intersection. Pictured in link: http://maps.google.com/?t=k&ll=33.72276,-117.988722&spn=0.003846,0.007242&t=k I don't know how detailed or how far you want to take this project but these look (would look) very real if possible. I have no idea if they are so just tell me if i'm dreaming. railrod7quote> Thank you. I do plan some diagonal pieces, and these would not be too hard to do. I'll see what I can come up with when I am ready to start the diagonal pieces.

Date: 1/7/2006 8:35:13 PM Author: cowkilla lookin good, are you going to make large areas of trees inside the river like by interstate 5 and the 134? quote> Can you post me a pic to use as something to go by? But yes, I plan to do a lot with them, right now I am still just making the base pieces. I am making them as props, so I can make several versions of each piece, put them in a prop family, and have them plop randomly.

GMT - I am also very happy with the new textures. sparkythepenguin - I'll take any help I can get, and will gladly share credit. Send me some pics of the bridges you mean, and I'll do my best. Cjah - Thanks for the kind words. I am having some problems with modeling plants, but I will keep working on it. If any one can do some pics with grafitti on them, I'd could use the help. Here is an ingame pic of some of the lots with the new textures...
