  1. Interesting Science Stuff Thread

I don't know if this has been posted yet but here goes.. http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/07/health/cohen-cancer-study/ http://video.foxnews.com/v/2915246450001/killing-cancer-like-the-common-cold/#sp=show-clips
  2. Freight trains

Trains and ships come at predetermined times. There is a interval between how long the next train or ship will come to pick up or drop off cargo. If you do not have enough resources or money to import or export the item, the shipment will never come. I have literally seen ships sail up to my trade port only to turn away at the last moment because I just imported or exported the same item by truck or had money come out of my city's coffers. If you really want to see the train try bulldozing all of your available trucks at the depot, or increase production of the tv's.
  3. After looking at your city it looks as though you have lots of medium wealth buildings in your city. That could explain the sudden influx of medium wealth tourists to your casinos. I have noticed that whenever I tried to make a gambling city that I always needed lots of tax revenue to keep it going so I would raise taxes. If I made low wealth taxes really low, all of a sudden low wealth sims would start to show up again. Also whenever I place a train depot I always connect it to high density streetcar roads and I have a stop as close to the train station as possible. I'm not sure if you wanna tear your city up to try that out. To be honest I have never been able to get a gambling city to be sustainable. The closest thing I had was one city where I had a strip of highway with parking lots and at least four ferries, maybe more. There were ferries on either side of the highway though. It was awesome because almost all my sims that came to that area of town walked almost the entire four blocks of land that it covered. Eventually the cost of all this was too much and I abandoned the city.
  4. Hi. I am a noobie here but I have been playing Simcity for almost a year now. I took a break when bf4 came out but I came back to it since Simcity runs better on my system than bf4 does. One thing I can't figure out is how to get high wealth citizens in my city. Every time I watch a YouTube video there is someone who has high wealth buildings. I have done everything I can think of in order to get them? So one question I have is how long does it normally take on a city for them to start to show up? Right now I have at least two cities with high tech jobs, processors factories, plenty of schooling, a university in both cities and also both of those cities do not have any income tax at all, on any income level. So what am I doing wrong?
  5. Tamarin Island Bridge Bug

I've encountered something similar to that months ago when I first started to try to evolve my cities. Just like yours my city ran fine until I got the idea to move stuff around to make it more compact and efficient. I always thought it was a traffic issue because I had some trucks that wouldn't come back in the city. I deleted the trade port and plopped it again to no avail. I watched all my money slowly disappear. I ended up abandoning the city altogether. I started to try to learn how the supply chain works in Simcity and I have found a few things that make my cities better. Below is link to a pic that shows where I am at on my supply chain evolution right now. Whenever I build processor factories, I always build two sea going trade ports. One that only exports, and one that only imports. I never try to make one trade port do both. It will not work. In my experience, it might for a short while but it will break soon and you will be screwed. My trade port that exports has 2 lots for processors, I am ok with that. My trade port that imports has 3 lots for alloy and 3 lots for plastic. For my city it works fine with no problems. You can also force your trade ports to use boats by deleting all the trucks that come with it. I only have 3 processor factories but I imagine you could scale this up too. I have another city that has 5 processor factories with the same amount of importing and exporting set up. My biggest problem for me was really terrible traffic on that island because of the way the highway comes into the town. I got it down to a decent level but I almost gave up on that city because of how bad it was for me when I was building my population up. https://plus.google.com/photos/118263486586562680275/albums/5867176672858371889/6029009060868757778?banner=pwa&pid=6029009060868757778&oid=118263486586562680275 Hopefully this helps you. Edit: After rereading your post again you state that the trucks don't want to turn right to get into your city. In the last week I have noticed 2 scenarios in two different cities of mine where it seems like traffic doesn't take right of way like you think it should in real life. Recently I tried making a highway juncture to force people to take right of ways so that only people who were turning left or going straight would enter my intersection. What I saw was lots of left turns across traffic and going in circles using the new roads but not a lot of right of ways.
