Cancelling does not mean getting a refund. You've already bought the time and had it allocated. Cancelling means stopping the recurring payment mechanic. Allowing it to lapse applies only if you don't use recurring payments.

To some of the above questions: -If you sign up for the PO at a later date, you get access to ALL content packs previously released. -If you cancel or let your PO account lapse, you will not be able to use content packs as they are only available while playing on the planet offer. And Gregory, it all looks fantastic. I've been waiting for this update all week and it's just so damn awesome. <3 Question though! About the new maps; will any of them be added onto the PO planets for use by new mayors?

I'm not sure they're meant to work on pollution. But I did notice that if I build an avatar park near a concentration of them, the green area produced suitable for holiday hotels expands much larger than just the avatar park alone.

Ugh... 5-Day Contracts + Business Trip = Gigantic Pain
Rakeesh replied to PLB82's topic in Cities XXL
If I remember right they did mention that they'll have planets with different rulesets in the future but no information beyond that. There's quite a bit they could do with that. From limiting players to number of cities on the planet, fixed contract lengths, etc. I'm quite intrigued with the possibilities. :3 -
Ugh... 5-Day Contracts + Business Trip = Gigantic Pain
Rakeesh replied to PLB82's topic in Cities XXL
Quick fix is just to sell it all to omnicorp to get back into play, then cancel and sell at regular rates gradually a little at a time as it sells. I've had to do the same with my large supply of food. People cancel it so often if they find a better price. :\ -
Patch 1.0.3.383 - Bug Fixes and Enhancements
Rakeesh replied to SimBurger's topic in Cities XXL Technical Issues
Not actually a new bug SimBurger. It's happened to me quite a bit where they don't match up. I've always followed the market place numbers because they update with every transaction. Whereas, I found that the city status window did not, and often lagged behind. -
Will you continue your Planet Offer if the features and gameplay remain same...
Rakeesh replied to mrmaye's topic in Cities XXL
Originally posted by: Kittani I was all ready to sign up, but then I read the post that all the good cities are taken and only the slag hard-to-build-on ones are left... cinches it for me... it'll be like villas in AC... you either have to buy one someone's selling on e-bay or wait till someone quits to get a descent one. 5 planets? they must not be expecting many people to play this game... a few hundred players maybey? It's ok I was irritated with the tutorials not even working right and crashing my computer hard-core. I got a descent graphics card and an i7... runs like garbage. Oh well... maybey in a few years when they release Cities XXL or something...quote> This isn't true. The most commonly unused maps tend to actually be the easier maps to work with. Like High Lands, Mountain, Beach, etc. It's harder to find full star maps on crowded planets, but that's why we have plenty of planets. And as they don't plan to delete cities until 6 months of inactivity, it's a solid bet they'll open more planets as time goes by and people will have the opportunity to pick and chose once again. There's actually 2 planets per region/language right now. So still plenty of choice for those who hunt for their favourite map. -
Caaaaaaaalm. The game hasn't been released for a month yet. We all need to take a deep breath and give them time to actually do these things. As it is, we're expecting an update on the first content pack this week with pictures and information. The blueprints faq might be included or left until later when they give them to us. So just some patience. :3

It most certainly is metro. It was posted on October 14th. Here's a link to the original news post: http://www.citiesxl.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1340&Itemid=128

I have to agree that the vagueness is a bit odd. I didn't actually think anything of it until a day or two ago when a new building appeared in my list of water utilities with specifically stated bonuses in it's descriptor. +40% water production, +5% education bonus. Granted it's great to know the exact effects of this building, it would be nice if the other utilities actually listed how much they produced. IE: Water tower produces 1 token, or however they want to quantify it.

Will you continue your Planet Offer if the features and gameplay remain same...
Rakeesh replied to mrmaye's topic in Cities XXL
I most definitely will, and am for that matter. 3 months recurring. The game is very much worth it and I'm having fun, and really that's all I need to justify it. :3 -
Please note that this is a cinematic trailer, not in-game footage or gameplay. When it was released there was a big stint on how "this doesn't look like the game" and other such feelings. Bear in mind that the video on other websites did not come with the blurb from MC stating as follows: To celebrate the release of the game and share with you the vision we have for Cities XL, we are releasing today a cinematic trailer that will take you on a nice journey in the present and upcoming Cities XL universe. quote> Underlined to add emphasis.

Yes, actually. :3 It was posted up on citiesxl.com on the...14th I believe it was. There was even a few threads started about it and some hefty discussion, some of which degraded into flames. But aside from that speedbump, it's a wonderful vid and I just can't wait for trains. <3

Same. Have been trying for a few hours now and it's been stuck on checking game version/connecting to master. It makes me sad. :C

Earlier tonight Phillippe mentioned in passing as he was answering questions that they may be looking into ways to deliver solo content. Nothing concrete and I can't quote him word for word, but that was the jist of it.

Androv is right, JaWood. All the jigsaw parts, as well as the smooth curves to the right, across the river are farms. You can just see them in the distance in the second picture stretching in lines of colour from one river bank to the other. The part on the left being older than the right side, which are an experiment in shapes to see which I'd like better. As it stands, I'm redesigning all my farmlands. Long roads will smoothly curve and wind from one river to the other. The paved roads along the riverbanks and between these sections will provide a solid great between the colours that is much more subtle than the brown of the dirt roads within the sections. There are also intermittent interstates cutting through the farmlands, allowing the farmers to quickly send out their produce and feed the the cities of Pollux.

A tip for water tower placement, and a warning
Rakeesh replied to Jack_Hawksmoor's topic in Cities XXL
For those who are more experienced with water production; where is the best place to plop down water storage? Next to a water tower, away from them? And should multiples be placed together so that the water treatment affects multiple? -
I present my glorious little farming community of Aloria, nestled around the great 3 rivers of the northern wetlands. With the city bordering the lake, the majority of all farmland is reserved for agriculture and livestock. Of course, a recent change in zoning laws has given way to a much more extravagant future in farming with added infrastructure. The rollout of these improves will come over time, and will not only benefit our hard working farmers, but also make the division of properties much more appealing to the eye.

There's no released demo for the moment Cocotte. They seem to have taken it down temporarily just before release. A good move honestly, it would prevent some strain on the system for the release time when the first batch of players who bought the game get online to really test the heck out of it. They did say it'll come back in a few weeks time, so just sit tight and be patient....or hunt down a friend who bought it and steal the demo disc that came with. X3

So, quick and to the point. I asked Monte Cristo information support about content packs and GEMS. And they answered all my questions. I couldn't hope for a better response. Dear ----, Regarding your questions: “From my understanding, content packs will be given to users of planet offer and not available to those who are not part of planet offer. I would like to know a few things about these content packs. -How often will they be released? > We’ll try to do 1 each month, but we don't have yet official information about that -If you are not a subscriber when a content pack is released, will you still be able to download missed packs in the future when becoming a subscriber? > Yes. -Do they only function with planet offer online play, or can they also be used in single player? > Online only. -If they are available in single player games, will they continue to function if I allow my subscription to elapse or cancel it? > Online only. Now about GEMS. From what I've gathered is they are tycoon like games that produce a tradeable resource in your city. -How often will GEMS be released? > The official release of the GEMs will be published on our website. -Can you run multiple GEMS in the same city? > Yes. -Can you create an entire city just out of a single GEM from start to finish? > No, GEM are in complement of the regular game, you need to have an existing city to play with a GEM on it. -Will GEMS function in single player games?” > Yes Feel free to come back to us for any other issue, doubt or simple remark you want to point out. Best regards, the Cities XL team

Here's a trick I've been using. Create 2 extra farm fields. Destroy the two fields adjacent to the road you want to rebuild larger. Remove alternating sections of the dirt road. IE: For a 3 segment road, delete the first and third. Reconnect the road segments using larger roads. Repeat with any remaining segments. Rebuild farm in exact same configuration. You can also still see the farm resource area highlighted when using the dirt roads. It dissapears if you use a paved road type. Open your roads first, select and deselect dirt road, open the overlay, then select the dirt road directly. The overlay should still be there.

Retail goods are far too hard to sell. Decrease production ???
Rakeesh replied to NightOfDarkness's topic in Cities XXL
It means you shouldn't build any more commercial properties. Your retailers don't have enough customers to sell to so it only hurts them. -
How do people's cities survive when they have +350 office tokens?
Rakeesh replied to Androv's topic in Cities XXL
He probably had them all sold but were cancelled as time went by and people saw they could get a better price. If he ever comes back on, he's doomed! Doooooooooooooomed! -
Note that highways are under a second heading, "fast lanes" and are not under "roads". Surprisingly a couple people in the game chat have also asked the question. And like Gabry said, you need 500k in population or have expert mode turned on.

Like Eagce mentioned, if you order a physical copy directly from Monte Cristo via the CitesXL website you get free shipping and will receive it within 4-7 business days after it hits the mail.
