rusty_777 - is that a real intersection? i'm not sure what makes this special besides the fact that some streets are included - but is that a stoplight on an exit to go the other way - if that even is possible?

well - i saw an experiment on a diagnal interstate merging with a horizontal interstate - and saw that it contained no real exit ramps besides merging one way..... so - i thought maybe take that idea of the diagnal - and make some ramps...... (drawing based off of the idea if an 8 lane freeway was made for the game - 4 lanes each way) - 2 lanes continue through - while 2 lanes exit - allowing for mass traffic flow....

IN REAL LIFE - they do go around a city - and they also - meet - it's complex - but intersections maybe not exactly like this - DO EXIST - and can be even more complex! i play the game and design my citys based on the highway(freeway) layout - i doubt that a small handful of people would only be interested in something like this - considering how many people do play the game an intersection like this would create a center point for development - mass volume for an area probably near a downtown - the more interstates meeting in an area - the more flow of people to either go to work in that area - or possibly live - it makes sense - i could always make a 4 freeway interchange - now that'd be complex! lol - but i'm sure it's possible

Yes it is!! i dont think that would EVER get on the RL roads... im sorry...quote> i'm talking about his comment about the real life intersection - as for the one i made - it's not really much a mess - needs more study - it's a first attempt @ making my own.... basically why i thought of this intersection is b/c in the game - i have tons of interstates that meet sometimes - but they cannot connect - and it takes way too much space! - and b/c the exit nearby is too far away for simcity driving standards - it's both HUGE space taking - and useless - (the current gameplay) it'd be interesting to see something more complex than just 2 interstates meeting - considering in the real world - some interstates meet - as well as other intersections all in the same exit - for mass complexity and mass productivity...

is the one i drew - 3 interstates merging - the image u posted of the omaha exit isn't actually a 3 merge - as it is the interstate curving to the right - and - they're redoing that intersection as some of it was halted as u can see that some of those lanes don't have anywhere to go b/c they were canceled - oh well - that intersection works - but it isn't a mess....

i don't know if anyone has attempted what i'm about to explain yet - since it's so - CONFUSING - and complex - but i really think the idea of this interchange for the highway(freeway) system would be extremely beneficial for high traffic especially in a dense area - the idea is - 3 interstates all meeting @ one point - but continuing through - they just don't end all together and u don't have to merge to another - basically the idea is like an X with another freeway cutting it in half - or in other words - a snowflake..... It seems simple enough @ first - but it isn't when it comes to ramps - so i've been drawing here what i think would work - though it needs some modifications (i'll post a pic later once my scanner software is found and installed - just formatted my computer) - one thing i want is this interchange - except one exception - previous interchanges had only 1 lane per exit - i want 2 or more - so in this drawing i've made - i've used the idea of the 12 lane interstate that was supposedly being worked on - as the interstates run through the interchange - 3 lanes continue to go each way continuing driving on the same interstate - to make it through the interchange without exiting..... - then - i've made the idea of 3 lanes that exit - for mass traffic flow - and less congestion - the 3 lanes on the exits then exit how many times to the desired locations since each exit has 4 ramps to go exit in any direction - except the opposite way on the same interstate u came from - unless that can be done - which would make 5 ramps.... the thing i think needs experimenting on is the fact of lowering the amt. of singled ramps for the exit - what i mean is - that one exit ramp will merge with another to save ramps - so as one interstate exits to go one way - the other one also has the option to merge into this ramp and share it as well - saving ramps and making it less clutter - THE TYPICAL INTERCHANGE IN REAL LIFE - as i said - it's confusing - but it is something i really want built - if i knew the sizes of lanes and how to modify the settings to make it useful - i'd build it myself - but i'm not sure where to find this information at this point or even know if i'd understand it - i do not have a real-life example of this interchange - but - i know it has to exist - maybe not 3 interstates - but rather - 2 interstates merging with many other exits on the same exit interchange - one actually exists here in omaha, nebraska - sorta - but one interstate ends - and there's like 5 diff. avenue exits on this one massive exit that has it's exit coinciding with the interstate exit - it's really lengthy for the 5 exits or so part - but it's useful - a lot is underground and u can't see most of it - but is anyone working on something like this @ all - or better yet - have they stopped the mass idea of the 12 lane interstate here - that'd be cool - but i think this type of interchange would be perfect for the 12 lane interstate as it wouldn't restrict much flow b/c the exits will be 3 lanes - and so will the ongoing through the interchange traffic.....
