is it unplayable or is it just me?
ZrC replied to behedwin's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I think I have the best one so far...No matter how many garbage dumps I build, destroy and rebuild again the trucks will not leave to pick up the garbage. My city of 250k people pretty much died with the trash everywhere. -
That PC will run the game with everything maxed just fine. Many underestimate the i3 but it's a very capable cpu (as in it smashed my old QX6850 which was a $1000 cpu at the time)

There's no such thing as a middle ground anymore? If anything I wouldn't picture it being a complete disastrous failure or an absolute success, I'd picture it being definitely somewhere in the middle margin. But that's just me, I might be under or over-estimating the creativity/attention-span of their new target audience. Wow, now I feel stupid for not thinking of the Sims... Makes perfect sense! With a large amount of expansions like the Sims, seems perfect for EA to milk even more money out of us. If one of those expansions features a God-Mode/Region-Editor or the fix to the region-view, that's when I'll buy the game... Until then, I'll just watch everyone's reactions to the vanilla version. Unfortunately I'm a sucker for SimCity and have been buying them since the the first DOS version. Already pre-ordered, just hoping to not get nickel and dimed for content updates that should have been there on release. -
Yes it will run on high with no issues. Not bad for the price, but what is the resolution of your monitor?

A 6670 will run the game perfectly fine. Just an FYI - I have this exact card, and during the beta, I had several issues with certain graphics displaying. I was unable to see city boundaries, road guides, data layers flowing (electric, water, sewage), could not visually see any disasters, etc... This was a reported bug by many ATI card users, so hopefully this gets fixed before the launch. I have also tried the beta on an AMD APU along with a 6650M without issues. Have you updated your display drivers? http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Considering this game is always online DRM I doubt it will be moddable. All we have to look forward to is DLC labeled as expansions. It's already been stated mods will not be available at launch which means EA will be watching the success of the game. If it's a huge hit you can be sure they will want to bank on the DLC, if not it will be opened to modders.

My personal feeling is EA may take this game the way of "The Sims" depending on how successful it is. By that I mean pushing out a small DLC updates and calling it an expansion every 6-8 months. Also don't forget the small model update packs and charging $5-10 each. -
SimCity Beta: Graphics and Performance
ZrC replied to landstander248's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
The game is very easy on hardware unless you ramp up the shadows/AA or have a high resolution monitor. I ran with a 30fps cap since nothing more is really needed for a simulation game and never seen the cpu usage go above 15-25% with a maxed city. -
It will play fine with mid-high graphics settings. Keep in mind shadows and AA will drag the frame rate down in larger cities.

SimCity Beta: Graphics and Performance
ZrC replied to landstander248's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
AMD 6670 Looks like your video card is holding you back. Try turning off AA and shadows. -
Yes, you can run it fine. Although you will need to turn off some settings for smooth gameplay (shadows off , AA, lighting etc) Your specs are fine and will be able to handle medium settings with ease. You should be fine on low settings. Just remember to make sure shadows/lighting/AA are set to off or the lowest. What video card do you have, if its integrated graphics it will run poorly. I'm not that pro with specs of CPU's. I7 is overkill if I think of it, and a Quad core too . It will be OK with an I5 dual-core. I don't think that an I3 will be good. Sorry for that. An i3 will handle the game fine even on max settings with a decent video card. (7750+, 650 ti+) Desktop iseries i3 dual core with hyperthreading i5 quad core i7 quad core with hyperthreading
