It's a long time since I've seen the subject of scale discussed to such an extent. Just goes to show we are all different in our view of the world. Comparing other bats in game helps me, but for you it may lead to the confusion you felt. I never appreciated how many various "scales" there were in-game. I think I mentioned the over-sized sims before. You have the final say in what you are making and with so many things in life sometimes it's best to go with your own view of the world. (provided the buildings are not 3 times as big ... of course.) As Jason said , scaling in so many instances is affected by SC4's tile size and the need to Squeeze things onto a lot. Without this things would be somewhat easier. Every time I think of this problem it reminds me of this pub near me. https://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o313/mntoes/Queensarms.jpg To me it sums-up the problem of "scale" nicely it looks under-scaled compared to the surrounding buildings. (it's old and from when we humans were smaller). There are so many variations in real life. Life is not "standard" I have to agree though that you should certainly not "throw in the towel"
  11. Why should the person above you be banned?

    banned for being corrupted
  12. Jason Leo's European BATs

That's the trouble with Omnis in Gmax. Very, very, difficult to get right. I must learn another way myself. Concerning Hoflaan 48, I have to agree on the roof texture and a good observation. PS. I haven't looked at your thread for a while. Boy your skills are improving.
  13. dline's bating progress

^^Quote 7) Great job making that scalloped shape at the top, but for accuracy, your scallop is inverted to the scallop in the photo. Ah, I must be thick, that is why I couldn't see this column on the real building. Doh... That said some very good advice given above. I spend ages looking at the detail on some buildings. It's all part of the fun in batting and in many respects improves the enjoyment when it can get a bit boring on the odd occasion. Overall very good progress in your work. Geez, I sound like a teacher... Just a note on the "cloning" be sure you now the difference between "copy" or "instance". Copy - exactly that, an exact copy of the first object but you can change the first object later and the second object is un-affected. Instance - a clone of the first object. however any changes you make to the first object will be duplicated on all other objects made via an "Instance" clone.
  14. Why should the person above you be banned?

Banned because I don't know what your avatar is.
  15. The Next Person...

Nope honestly I don't. TNP would like to know which game Mr Saturn is from.
  16. CiM 2 released

Back on topic. Is anyone else having problems connecting to multiplayer?
  17. New to bating and loting

No problem. Keep showing us you progress. I think you need to get this thread moved to the "SCB Bat Open discussion thread" though as it's more to do with building rather than modding. If you decide to do this I think you will have to ask a member of admin to do it for you.(by Private message)

Just a few sites:- Google "textures" and you will find plenty more. http://www.cgtextures.com/ http://www.mayang.com/textures/ http://www.texturex.com/ http://www.textureking.com/ http://www.goodtextures.com/

That's the wonder of learning to bat. The more you do it the better you get. It's your choice to start over again or not. (I've lost track of the number of times I've done a "re-start" in the past and it's mainly due to scaling problems. I repeat these are looking good already so don't think I am telling you what to do. Re:- the textures. As an example this picture found on the web. Worked on in paint and Photoshop Elements Became this:- Try them on one of you buildings and see how they look. You will need to adjust the u,v,w map to get the best results. Regards Mntoes

133% is right. The sims in-game are oversized deliberately otherwise they would not show-up very well if they were to scale. Try scaling-up, however your buildings already look quite tall (from the back). It's a case of trial and error and seeing how you feel it looks. As SimCoug said it's always tricky. If you increase the height by 133% these buildings could look a bit Lanky (for want of a better term). You may need to nudge-up the width a bit also (I know trying to fit them to a lot makes this difficult so choices have to be made). Try plopping them next to bats made by a few other batters just to see how they compare. Even with Maxis building there is a wide variation. These are looking very good but not quite ready for release IMO. (Don't rush what are promising bats ,I know the temptation is strong). Sorry to harp on but if you use a good photo program you can dirty your textures a bit, in particular the white is very clean. White is another thing it's hard to get looking good and takes practice. If you only take the brightness down a bit that will help.
  21. The Next Person...

Nope never. TNP has been to Paris (France)
  22. Why should the person above you be banned?

Banned because I only have the same road to my home.
  23. New to bating and loting

Ok ,but try the re-export first. I don't think you have done anything wrong as this is a well reported problem
  24. Theatre BAT

^^^ I have to agree. Nice Bats and more than good enough for the Stex, but with a bit more work these could be great. I would de-saturate the red texture a bit though and work a bit more on the roof textures they are a bit too "clean". Use photoshop or down load the GIMP to add some dirt/variation to the texture. If you want more fine details you sometimes have to make these slightly larger than real life. Also a good contrasting colour helps them show (similar colours blend in too much). Regards Mntoes Edit You posted before me...lol Sorry I don't have any other ideas:-[ Any one else?
  25. Theatre BAT

Only thing I can think of is that some times it take a while for them to work. Keep switching between day and night mode to see if that helps. Also try the game on the fastest speed. I presume you have the up-date to add lighting. (SC4 Update for BAT)
