Genesis 5:27 Pics or it didn't happen. Then I guess pretty much anything that happened up until the early 19th century is just an illusion.

I had a sneaking suspicion that's where it was. I'd heard of it, but wasn't quite sure if maybe your photo was taken in Canada or some other place in the Rockies. I've been through Colorado, and think it's gorgeous in many places.

That's strange, in what way are they messed up? The Maxis files are hosted externally on Dropbox, not on the Wordpress blog. That's why the links may seem a bit unusual: bldgprop_vol1 bldgprop_vol2 But I guess it's best to use what works for you. It's a problem with my browser. I'm sorry. I'll edit my post. His browser must be blocking the download dialog that opens when clicking the wordpress link. Or maybe he didn't see it. You're right. It has something to do with my browser, because this is what I see when I click on the links to the files: When I tried clicking on the links using Firefox, it doesn't happen. So apparently it's an issue with my browser. I think maybe it's time for me to switch browsers, huh? I'm really sorry for the confusion. -
May I ask where this was taken? I want to live there! Wonderful pictures...all of them.

Yesterday we were near 80° where I live, then overnight we had some rain and winds come through - and today it's in the 40s. Supposed to be cool this whole week, with the forecast showing the warmest day to only be around 69°.

Call me naive, but I didn't realize tornadoes occurred in Canada. Is this common in that area, or just a fluke?

The definitive answer to this thread was given in post #14 left by Ltw in July last year. I think it's safe to assume the OP has already gotten the files he needed. -
Two explosions near the Boston Marathon finish line
lhrob replied to Ionic-Elm's topic in Current Events
As if? People do enjoy looking at blood and gore. Just look at how much of it there is in movies and video games. The news puts it up because they're part of the same entertainment industry that serves the same audience. Correction...I should have said "as if all people get a thrill...." I don't. I don't even get that. Even though in horror movies you know it's fake, I still don't know why people get pleasure out of fear...?? It's not something I experience...and that's fine, because I have no interest in experiencing some rush that people get from being scared. I've just never understood why people are enamored with seeing bodies being blown apart, missing limbs with exposed bones, and blood pouring out of gaping wounds. What does that say about their mentality? I'm sorry....this is off-topic. Back to the subject. -

Whether or not someone has a right to expect privacy in public, I would hope to be able to expect at least a modicum of common decency, of which there is very little in the media these days. When you see the paparazzi chasing after celebrities while they are driving (which is partially what led to the death of Princess Diana), blocking sidewalks as actors/singers exit restaurants, or snapping their photos in supermarkets, then you know the world has pretty much gone to hell and lost all sense of propriety. For all the news articles out there about this blatant act of terror and cowardice, I still have to avert my eyes from all the photos that were taken of the crime scene and plastered all over the news sites, as if people somehow get a thrill from seeing blood, body parts, and ripped open faces of victims as they are being taken away to the ambulances. It's beyond reprehensible, and reveals a total lack of respect for humanity. -
Does it only happen when you're playing SC4, or does it also happen while playing other games or watching videos?

Okay, cool. Now, what version number are you updated to? To find out, let your mouse cursor hover over the same Simcity 4.exe file and it will say which File Version you have. You need to have at least version 1.1.638 in order to utilize most of the custom content for the game, and it needs to be version 1.1.640 in order to see nightlighting used by custom BATs.

Problem in commercial only city - high demand, but zones will not develop
lhrob replied to DracoArum's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Uhh, about that nearly 3 TRILLION Simoleans(!!)....yeah, you're gonna want to get rid of that ASAP. Download and install the so you can use the Moolah cheat. Then change your money to a more reasonable amount. You see, technically if you get too much money the city will start recording your budget as a negative number and then the game won't let you do anything in the city after that. It will lock you out of your city, and basically tell you that you've been fired as a mayor, because you will have completely run the city into the red. I'm not sure how much money is too much, but I do NOT advise adding too much money to your budget. But certainly adding several million won't hurt. I currently run my city with a budget of around $25,000,000 and have no problems. -
It's quite simple. You meant to type "45761", but you were holding down the Shift key when you did it. Docj101 pretty much said what I was going to say. Since you have a dual-core processor, you're going to want to run the game using only 1 of those cores. (The game is 10 years old and wasn't created to be played on today's multi-core CPUs.) To do that, locate the Simcity 4.exe icon (if it's on your desktop, that will work, too) and right click on it. Click on Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field, leave one space at the very end of the line, and then add -CPUCount:1 If this is your first time playing the game ever, let us know which version of the game you have. It will make a difference if you wish to use any custom plugins for the game.

My only concern with the ever increasing advancement in technology is that I will someday not be able to access certain files I've saved from years past. As it stands, I can't play some games I used to enjoy on Windows 98, and in fact I can't access some word documents I had saved with 98....and that bums me out.

That's very very true. I should bear that in mind. I've been on some boards that were much worse. Even the comments sections of major news websites are ridiculous. Thanks again.

Aside from reading all the stickies here at Simtropolis, you could also take a look at these guides: http://strategywiki.org/wiki/SimCity_4 http://www.ign.com/wikis/simcity-4 This is broken into 5 major sections, and you'll see the link to each in the black box on the left, as well as near the bottom of the article. They are labeled "Getting Started" - "RCI" - "City Management" - "City Departments" - "Secrets".

My entire city disappeared over the night :o
lhrob replied to iEthereal's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
unfortunately there aren't any previous versions :c ( i don't know why D:) Bear in mind, the method Indiana Joe referenced only works if you have Windows Vista or later. (I have no idea if Windows 8 has the same feature.) Plus, it only works if you have System Restore turned on. Plus, you may not need to restore the entire Regions folder. You can also restore individual city files. That way if you want to keep the other cities in your Region in their current state, you can. -
Just a small remark, I don't think there is a thing as 'gay ideology'. There is no such thing as a gay interpretation of the condition of the world and a gay view on how it should be (is there a straight ideology?). Being gay doesn't come with a set of ideas you adhere to. Gay people can be left, right, libertarian, authoritarian, they can be Nazi, communist, racist, materialist, post-materialist,... Being gay is one element of your personality and not something that defines what you think or what your preferences are. What you think and want is defined by a complex set of things, your situation, your education, your family, your personality,... Being gay might have an influence (I can imagine gay people might be more pro an inclusive society instead of an exclusive society, for example). No-one ever defined what gay people should think and want and do (luckily!). It is simply impossible, because the gay population is as diverse as the rest of the population, because being gay is simply not the only element of one's personality. I don't think it's a question of whether all gay people think alike (obviously they don't). "Gay ideology" is a thing, but it just means a desire to have homosexuals be accepted by society and granted equal rights. There is no implication that all gay people subscribe to the ideology or that all people who subscribe to the ideology are gay (both also obviously not true). The issue is that not everyone considers such tolerance to be a good thing and most people who use that term are on the opposing side - as such, the term has a negative connotation. But, connotation aside, what the term is describing does nonetheless exist. If it didn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation. "Straight ideology" is not so much a thing because there isn't an analogue - straight people are not denied legal rights or societal acceptance on account of being straight, so there is no need for a movement in their favor. That makes sense, I didn't interpret it that way (I interpreted 'gay ideology' broader, not limited to what you described, including more). Still, I think 'ideology' is not the right word, because it is, in my opinion, too thin (nevertheless, 'thin ideologies' like nationalism, populism, ecologism exist - although this can be debated). I think 'idea' is a more proper term if it is meant like you explained. Timmie, I do apologize if I expressed my thoughts incorrectly. By using the word "ideology", I simply meant "the general ideas, ways of thinking, and socio-economic views or political opinions which are most often identified with the majority of people in a particular group or social class". I recognize that not all gay people think the same way. I know there isn't one set of ideas that applies to all gay people. I know there is vast range of diverse views, beliefs, and thoughts among gay people. I'm gay myself, so I understand that as much as any other gay man. But, as a general whole, there are certain views, opinions, and beliefs that gay people hold to a greater percentage than do straight people. For instance, the majority of gay people believe same-sex marriage should be legal, whereas the majority of evangelical Christians do not. That's all I meant when I used the word "ideology". Sometimes I fumble when it comes to expressing myself succinctly. I simply couldn't find the right way of saying what was in my mind at the time. That's why I said I don't subscribe to every facet of gay ideology. I just didn't know how to express myself otherwise. Please forgive me.

It is friendly and helpful, Timmie...for the most part, anyway. I don't always feel like I have much to contribute, but I enjoy interacting with people at times. I don't like to air my dirty laundry in public, so I won't give specific names of people, or what has been said, but I've noted there are times when some people have a condescending tone in their posts, and it's directed mostly toward new people. However, it's sometimes directed toward established members, too, who maybe aren't as knowledgeable about certain things in the game as other game veterans are. I guess I just get overly sensitive at times. Maybe I misread what people are saying. I've put up with a lot of personal stress and emotional crap recently, and it has really affected my life. So when I come here, I want to relax. I don't want to put up with people making me feel like I'm an idiot who has done something wrong, or doesn't know anything. I'm sorry....I hope you'll forgive me. My bad mood followed me here when I left the post above. It's been 10 days now, so I'll come back and see how things go.

I'm leaving the forums for a while. Frankly, I don't feel like I have anything to offer anyone here, and I'm getting a bit tired of the attitudes I see from some members. When I see people, including myself, but particularly newbies, being treated with a condescending attitude, it grates on my nerves. I want to come here to relax and read uplifting, helpful comments from people - not lectures about what I did wrong. I already get enough of that in my personal life. So I may or may not be back in the future. Best wishes to you all.

It's acting very sporadic for me. In the past several days I've tried to download a number of plugins, but they took an excessively long time to complete. The largest file was only 675KB, which should download in less than 1 second on my broadband connection. Just a few minutes ago I downloaded a file of only 249KB, but it took over 30 seconds to complete. However, earlier this evening I also downloaded a file of over 1MB that completed in less than a second.
