  1. Date:9/8/2004 10:03:26 AM Author:eddiem Hi all. Thanks again Armandeus for the great links. Do you by any chance know what the .ens and .eni files are in some of the Japanese lots? Cheers. Eddiequote> I have never seen such file types in anything I've downloaded. Can you give me a URL to a Japanese lot that has those files?
  2. Thanks, Arrellb, that was a very nice complement. Bunnies back to you. Here are three new BATs. First, Nagoya Castle by Ragutaro. Size 10 x 10, 140,000 to plop, 500 to maintain, 75,000 to bulldoze, 800 jobs. Download here . Next, the Crossland Tower by Daiku. This is a landmark based on a real building in Yabe city, Toyama prefecture in Japan. No game info is given. Download here . Finally, the amazing Sky Tower 2222 landmark by Dareka, the creator of the Millennium Tower. This is one outrageously tall building, at 2222 m in height. Be careful not to poke yourself in the eye when you plop this in your city. And the file is 23 MB, but broken up into 7 files (st2222.000 to .006) in this Yahoo briefcase (if it's too busy, try again at another time). You need the st2222.bat file too. You download and place all 8 files in one folder somewhere and then double-click the st2222.bat (bat as in DOS batch file, not SC4 BAT file) to automatically assemble the 7 files (.000 through .006) into one Windows CAB archive (which you should be able to open without any third-party software). I added 4 new Japanese sites to my signature. The last one is an archive site that may have some older lots that people are looking for. Click the buttons on the left side to see the lots.
  3. Thanks, Equinox, for the compliments and for hosting Somy's lots, even temporarily. I hope you don't mind if I add a little info about that to my signature. As you correctly recall, on Somy's web page (when there still was one) he said he didn't mind redistribution of his lots. I reported that in this thread many pages back. By the way, Somy's marina is a port for small commercial fishing vessels (gyokou means fishing port in Japanese), not cruising yachts or whatever you might find at the recreational marina that comes with Rush Hour.
  4. Date:9/3/2004 12:23:40 PM Author: Synergy Armandeus !!!! You are amazing Thank you for all your time in putting this all together. I have enjoyed looking through many of the links you have posted. I have been searching for this file that will_silver00, mentioned in the middle of this thread ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...which can be found at http://www.geocities.jp/ad19040527/hokanko2.html. On that page, click on the picture to begin the download. Alas the page was taken down & so far my searching has been fruitless Maybe someone can point me in the right direction to get this lot?quote> Wow, thanks! I'm really not amazing, actually. I'm just an American who has been living half his life in Japan and understands Japanese, who likes SC4, and who noticed an interest in Japanese BATs and lots here at Simtropolis. I'm just a messenger. The really amazing people are the creators of all the stuff I find and post here for you to look at. Actually, anyone who reads a language other than English can do exactly what I am doing, and will probably get just as many thank yous as I do. I'm pretty sure that SimCity 4 was released in many countries around the world. I'm certain it was released in Taiwan, for example, because I've seen the official Taiwanese web site for the game. If someone fluent in Chinese were to start a new thread, Massively Gigantic Taiwanese BAT Gallery or whatever, then it would probably amass over 55,000 hits just like this thread has. I wouldn't be surprised if there was also a Korean version of SC4, because there were so many Korean landmarks available for download on the official EA site in the beginning. And I've seen lots posted on the STEX from people in Brazil, France, and Germany. There's a lot of potential out there. As for the ferry, that site has been closed, and as far as I know the only way to get it is to ask someone who has it to e-mail it to you. Perhaps Sepsis, the person who was searching for it originally, might oblige if you asked. AragornJDL, if there are any required prop downloads for the Japanese BATs, then the creator would have mentioned it (and NOB does, for example) and I would have mentioned it. So the first thing to do is recheck this thread for the description of what you downloaded to see if there is any mention of required prop downloads. The next thing I think you need to check is whether you have the standard prop downloads that almost everyone uses. These are available on the official EA site, I think. Also, you should make sure you have the latest patch for the game, and also the BAT patch that allows night lighting for BAT creations. You do have Rush Hour, right? If not, then the props in Rush Hour might be necesssary for the BATs you downloaded and that is why you are getting big boxes. That is all I can think of right now.
  5. Sorry for the lack of updates. I was busy with Real Life™. If you want more instructions on how to download from the Sim City Force archive that was re-introduced here, look at the earlier pages on this thread where I gave a detailed description of what to do. Now for the new buildings. JAX-LA has created a subway station similar to some of those seen in Tokyo (hmm, I've never seen a station like that). There is no description. Download here . Bikutori redid his Twin Tower. It's a landmark. Download here .
  6. For requests, you could try a polite PM to NOB or RaikaS, and it would be helpful to include a link to a picture of the building you want. I have no idea if they are even taking requests though, so don't expect too much. Two new buildings. The first by NOB. It's the World Heritage Itsukushima Shrine , in Hiroshima of course. The description, picture, and download link are on NOB's page in English (thanks, NOB!). The next one is of a skyscraper called the Twin Tower, but not those Twin Towers. Take a look: The skyscrapers are offices and the bottom part is a shopping mall, and there is an entrance to an underground parking area. However, there are no game details given. Download here .
  7. Date:8/24/2004 12:01:48 AM Author:drummerfreak124 does anyone know where u can download somy's bats now because her site is down. quote> NOBODY knows. Do we really need this question to appear on every page of this thread? The next time I see this question I am nuking the universe. You have been warned.
  8. Date:8/22/2004 1:10:38 AM Author:a11eria armedeaus could you please tell me what this is I hope you havent already said couldnt find anything. quote> As others have pointed out, they are just eye candy. They are not transit-enabled. The tunnels are 20 squares long. Here are two similar lots by JAX-LA, the creator of the Mitsubishi car dealership. This time we have the two types (selling different lines of cars) of Nissan dealerships, Blue Stage and Red Stage . No other info is given.
  9. Thanks to everyone for the compliments and support. Special thanks to Odainsaker for starting this thread. Here are three new lots. The first is BAT of a Mitsubishi Motors dealership by JAX-LA. Picture here , download here . I have no other info on this. The second is a wind power station lot by Bikutori you can place in the water. Picture here , download here . Finally there is a track and field/soccer stadium by mk. You can get it here . As you can see below, it is a CS$$$ lot with 171 jobs.
  10. There is a new BAT by Ragutaro. It's the Ryounkaku building in Asakusa, Tokyo which was completed in 1883, but destroyed in the Great Kanto earthquake. Go here to see the SC4 version and download. Plop 30,000 Maintain 150 Bulldoze 12,000 Jobs 400
  11. I have answered this several times before.Somy's site is closed. There is nowhere you can get the microwave plant, marina, etc. There are a few lots on the Simtropolis EX (search for Somy or Baro). Anything else you will probably have to PM friends for. What you see on Sim City Force are pictures and comments. The actual files are on the BAT creator's personal sites, and in this case, the site in question does not exist. Please stop asking the same questions over and over. Thank you. If you want to ask over and over, I invite you to create a different thread for it, please.
  12. Thanks, Masher, that kind of comment makes doing this feel worthwhile for me. Bob3003, there is a link directly to Inuyama Castle in the description of the A-Bomb Dome I wrote up. There is also one on NOB's site. Date:8/14/2004 3:11:58 PM Author:threeswept I don't know how many Japanese sites you've come across that you've kept track of...I know I don't have all of them...so, what about maybe making one post (as I tried to do some pages back) with a link (like you've done in your signature) to that post where there would be a list of site info/download information?quote> Thanks for the suggestion. I understand what you mean. The problem is, that most of the sites I give links to are the private sites of the BAT creators. They are not long-term sites like Simtropolis. Many of them close down very quickly, or change the URLs to their files. Somy's site is down (and that is why you can't find that microwave power station), and today I noticed another site I have linked to in the past (the one with the 19th century Japanese warships) has closed. Many of the pictures I link to are on Sim City Force, but the majority of the actual files are hosted on private sites, as I've explained. So you see, if you look through this thread, and click on a file to download and can't get it, that almost always means it's no longer available, and I have no idea where to find it. I suggest asking around on Simtropolis to see if anyone has the file and can send it to you. Otherwise the information I have posted in this thread is all that I know. I have time to post what I do, but I really don't have enough to make a complete index to every Japanese BAT file that's out there. I could make a straight list of all the Japanese site URLs I know, but the content is all in Japanese, and if you could browse them yourselves without my help then you wouldn't need me and this thread, right? If it helps, I will add such a list to my signature. However, please check this thread (yes, I know it's long - sorry) before asking me questions about what you find there. We should keep this thread full of new information, not repeats of what has been posted a few pages back.
  13. Here's a new creation by Daiku. It's a growable stage 4 3x3 R$$$ house. Get it here .
  14. Thank you, NOB, for putting English descriptions on your web page! NOB has a couple of new train stations on his page (a small wooden one, and a southeast Asian style one). Everyone go have a look. Thanks, mayormaddness. There's a lot of good stuff on that page! No word on Somy's web page. Everyone on the Japanese BBSs are asking the same thing, and nobody knows what's up. Sorry. In addition to NOB's creations, here are a few more: A skyscraper (by Shoshinsha (meaning: beginner)): ploppable 3x4 landmark, plop cost 150000, maintenance 150, bulldoze 200. The Isetan dept. store in Shinjuku, Tokyo (by APTX): 1800 CS$$$ jobs, size 7x7 (no more info available). And a building that is famous enough that many of you might have heard of it: the Nippon Budokan (by Ragutaro): plop 42000, maintain 180, bulldoze 23000. E-N has made a lot with the train tracks crossed over. Trains pass through the lot, but unfortunately they cannot actually cross over from one track to the other. Get it here . It is 10 to place, and 5 each to maintain and to bulldoze.
  15. Thanks for the support! Here's a redone lot by GT500, the Bank of Zapato, which has been around for awhile on a Japanese site. Now it looks quite different. The new version is on the right, the old on the left. In the download, you get props, a 4x4 landmark version, a 4x3 CO$$$ version, a 4x3 CS$$ version, and a 4x3 R$$$ version. Just the building itself is 2x3 and is scaled to be 289 m tall. Download here . (Yahoo briefcase)
  16. Mitsubishi Crystal Mall

This is the same Raika from the Japanese BAT thread, everyone. Raika, thanks for putting your building here! Please put more! From what I gather, this building is a concept piece (to make a building in the shape of the Mitsubishi logo) and so please be a little more forgiving about realism.
  17. Thanks for the support, everyone! And thank you, Raika! Here is another cool train station for you by Rougetsu. It has bus stop capability and a capacity of 6000. Get it here .
  18. Thanks, killer_koffee, but that tip has appeared several times on this thread already. You must also understand that those online translation sites are nowhere near perfect, and usually the output is very strange and almost impossible to understand. After all, it's just a computer program doing the translations in a mechanical mindless fashion. Just a bit of friendly advice, but Japanese sounds nothing at all like shingshan chong. I don't think you meant any offense by that, but there are some people who might see that kind of comment as a racial slur against Asians. Since it is a sensitive thing, you might want to avoid making such comments in the future. I am not flaming you, so please don't misunderstand my intentions. The Japanese BAT creators do look at this thread; they have posted on Japanese message boards saying so. One of them said he was concerned when the topic turned to the Jap word (a few pages back). Although that misunderstanding has been cleared up, I think we should be careful not to cause any more such misunderstandings. To get back to BATs and so on, Raika, one of our Japanese BAT creators, has translated much of his page into English. Go here . And this just in: Deepnine has just alerted me to a whole treasure trove of stuff here made by APTX. There's just too much cool stuff for me to post all the pictures. There are Japanese buses, trains, monorails, and BATs too. Several stations, dept. stores, and banks, most modeled after real buildings, await you. Although the descriptions are in Japanese, the buttons and download links are in English. Here is a list of what you can find on each page (in order of appearance): Buses (R=Replacement, A=Additional, ?=Unspecified) Oita bus R, Seitetsu bus ? Tutorial Kit ?, Tokyu bus R Tokyu bus (nonstop) A, Oita Kotsu bus A Odakyu bus A, Miyagi Kotsu bus A Rapping (Wrapping?) bus (SimCity logos) A Trains Tokyu 9000, Tokyu 8000 JR (Japan Rail) Kyushu 303, Yokohama Rapid Rail Y500 Tokyo Monorail 1000, Tokyu 5050 JR East Japan E231 El Train, JR Kyushu 783 JR Kyushu 787 BAT page 1 1. Sakuragi-cho Station (in Yokohama, this is the station that was torn down and rebuilt) (passenger rail, capacity 9000, size 2x10) 2. Tokiwa Dept. Store (in Oita, Japan) (jobs 1200+, size 6x8) 3. El Train Terminal with Dept. Store (capacity 18000, size 4x10) page 2 1. Subway Station (capacity 4500, maintenance 50, size 2x1) 2. Cerulean Tower/Tokyu Hotel landmark (jobs 1500, size 8x5, maintenance 0) page 3 1. Sumitomo Life Insurance Sendai Central Bldg. (Sendai, Japan) (plop landmark CO$$$ jobs 2300, growable CO$$ jobs 3200, size 3x4) 2. Fukuoka Bank (Fukuoka, Japan) (CO$$$ jobs 800, size 3x4, plop landmark & growable available) page 4 1. El Train Station with Road Underpass (capacity 6000, size 3x8, has bus stop and parking) 2. Tunnel Exit Passenger Rail Station for placement on slopes next to tunnels - place a road first as shown in the picture for best results (capacity 2000, size 2x4, plop 250, maintain 15) This is a description of what is on that site as of the time of this post. All I know about these lots and vehicles is what I posted here. And here is a building by Raika called the Mitsubishi Crystal Mall. It is a growable stage 8 CS$$ 40 storey building with 1100 jobs. If you could see it from directly above, you would see that it looks like the Mitsubishi logo. Get it here .
  19. Date:8/1/2004 10:06:43 PM Author:threeswept Armandeus...I can't get enough of these train stations that you're finding for us. They're terrific. I love train stations. Are these newest lots/props from any new sites that you've found? Or, are they from the same ones that we've been listing in the thread? I just wanted to double-check, as I've been attempting to keep a list of most of the Japanese sites. (BTW, I listed some of the sites, in a post, a few pages back in this thread, if anyone is having trouble locating some of these lots). quote> I'm glad you enjoy them. I may have found a few new sites since you last did your list. Try the download links I gave (because often they point to a different place than where the picture is hosted) and you should find a few more places. I tend to find new sites when various BAT makers post to Sim City Force, because usually the picture is posted on that site, but the actual lot files are hosted on their own private sites. To answer Dargor's question: yes, there are quite a few train enthusiasts/hobbyists in Japan. A big reason for this is that the Japanese rail network is highly developed (especially passenger rail and subway), and there are a great variety of trains in use. I can see magazines and books for train hobbyists in any bookstore here. SimCity allows you to model a fairly detailed train network, and so it attracts train enthusiasts, I suppose. We even have our share here on Simtropolis. There are many Japanese replacement trains (mostly passenger trains) on NOB's site. He seems to specialize in anything Hiroshima, so I think most of his trains and buses are from that area. If there are people interested in Japanese bus and train sets for SC4, speak up and I'll try to find a bunch and post them here. I assumed that no-one is interested so I haven't been posting them. Mexicanboy13r, I always post everything I know about a lot (which means whatever the lot creator writes about the lot when he posts it somewhere). I really don't have time to test every lot in the game before posting about them here. Sorry. Maybe you should download the ones you have questions about and test them in the game to get the answers you want.
  20. Here is another new station for you to enjoy. It has passenger rail, subway, bus, and parking facilities, and it has a capacity of 12,500. It was created by Raika. Download here .
  21. Here's a new BAT by NOB. A Seven-Eleven in the first floor of a high-rise. But it's not a lot, it's a prop family. So it should appear randomly in different lots. Download here .
  22. Date:7/30/2004 8:25:36 PM Author:annoyingdan Any word on the SOMY situation? I really want that power plant. quote> Annoyingdan, by asking the same thing over and over, you are starting to resemble your namesake. I have posted a message to a Japanese forum where Somy posts, but I haven't received an answer yet. I will post here when someone replies. Maybe somebody who can send the lot to you will PM you. I don't have it. Here is a small power plant made by Kuchi (or is his name Ro?). He says it's good for small villages and islands where other plants would be too much. Power output 600, plop 100, maintain 50. You can get it here .
  23. Thank you, NOB, for coming here to talk with us. I am happy to help you. I am sorry. I made a mistake. The cherry trees are made by Ragutaro, not Daiku. And as NOB says on his page, you need Ragutaro's Inuyama Castle in order to see the trees. (I gave information about that lot a few pages back, but the links have changed. Go here to get it, or just get the props here .) I have corrected the description of the Genbaku Dome on the previous page. About Somy, all I know is what is written on his page. It says: Closed. Content deleted due to excess bandwidth usage. There is no other information, and the links shown there simply point to the ISP. I will keep looking for information. Baro may know something, since it was he who posted a few of Somy's lots to the STEX. Alkaola, I found your airplane! Go here .
  24. Thanks, Alkaola. That lot I directed you to is a demo lot. The download is a set of props and effects. It is possible that you have the airplane props from that download and you are not using the demo lot. I suggest you download it again and compare the file names to what's in your plugin folder. And now, may I direct your attention to a truly awesome lot made by NOB, our Japanese BAT creator from Hiroshima famous for his Gundam lots. Can you guess what this is? It is a real-life building. Probably not, because anyone who has been to Hiroshima after Aug. 6, 1945 would only know this sight: It's the world-famous Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome which was near ground zero on that fateful day. Read more about it here in English. I went there a few years ago, and the site seemed like a giant tombstone. (Incidentally, August 6th is my birthday.) Only NOB has constructed it to look as it did before the bomb, when it was the Industrial Promotion Hall. The cherry trees (the 3 pink trees in back) were created by another Japanese BAT author who I have featured before, Ragutaro (you need the props in Ragutaro's Inuyama Castle in order to see the trees. I gave information about that lot a few pages back, but the links have changed. Go here to get it, or just get the props here ). NOB says he used Ilive's Reader and the RCI Blank Lots set in making the lot. He says making the roof was particularly difficult. NOB is careful to say that he is not trying to make a political or any other kind of statement by creating this lot. He merely wanted to create something unique to his hometown of Hiroshima. Let's keep that in mind and not make any off-topic political remarks either way, OK? The lot functions as a ploppable landmark with 335 CO$$ jobs that you plop at a cost of 10,000 simoleons. The parking lot in the rear is transit-enabled. Go directly to his site and download there.
  25. This is the only thing I could find that had any planes at all on it. If this is not it, I don't know.
