Should SimCity be more 'realistic;
nataniels3 replied to mcallisterw's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
That is a good idea: just because boundaries are specified doesn't mean they can't be expanding. Allowing cities to annex land would be an interesting feature (you might have to load different sections of the city though) and would cut down on all the wasted space while leading to a region whose cities appear to flow into one another. -
Banned for quoting legend of zelda

Banned for being with a company that got the world taken over by aliens without even making a funny, albeit homicidal ai. So yes, I know what you mean, half life fan.

Granted, but it is a dollhouse. I wish they would fix the agent system in SimCity 2013.

Granted, you get a disk covered in rocks that have broken it irreparably. I wish for another wish.

Are you sure the trucks are disappearing? Maybe the simulation is not showing them. Does the arcology show resources being delivered? If not, then they are disappearing. I think the proper setting for trade depots to send stuff to arcology actually is use locally. That's what I used to send 60k tvs. For the traffic problem, maybe people aren't using as much mass transit and are driving instead. They might also be using different routes. Try following some sims to see how they get to their destinations.

If the city doesn't have 2 highway exits, make another one with the regional freeway tool that eldiabs posted about. https://community.simtropolis.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=9468 -
City Overrun With Criminals
nataniels3 replied to MOWS 4 U's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
It's great to see that SockoJr53's city wasn't abandoned. I hate playing in regions that are half filled with abandoned cities. They should have a city obliterate button like SC4 -
Protesting "high rents" vs tax rate
nataniels3 replied to Rufus Honker IV's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The game is like that. I generally ignore my sims' comments because they either make no sense, are stupid or both. For example: a business says they have a lot of customers then complain about the lack of customers. People living next to a high wealth park complain about the low land value. -
What I did was set up the basic resources (oil, ore and coal) and build those until I got smelters ( recycling was too finicky for my city, it worked maybe 1 hour a day) and refinery. I then plopped a college in the middle of my industry and unlocked the processor factory. I used profits from mining and drilling to offset building the processor factories until those took off. I then expanded production on the entire supply line. Sold 400k of processors a day.

Building buildings outside city borders

If that works it will save so much space inside the cities for the actual city. Not the services but the zones. -

my gambling city attempt, how do I attract medium wealth tourists?
nataniels3 replied to Griffon's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
That is one expensive arena. Maybe there is a code in the game overcharging medium wealth tourists. They lose so much money that they become low wealth. Just a theory. -
"In general, I tend to like gridded cities, as they offer the best format to allow your city to grow as it prospers" So Maxis also realized the free road design wasn't good. See people, they can notice problems with their own game.

So sponsored items are in? What will they add next, a McDonald's specialization? At least they aren't charging us for it.

LGR, the guy who made the SimCity retrospective, Reviews SimCity (2013)
nataniels3 commented on Haljackey's article in News
I am glad he spoke about the power and water agents. Many times have I watched power flow to a 2 way junction and only take one path, leaving my refinery without power. The game also doesn't have endurance for me. My city is successful, but after less than 10 hours of playing it, I am tired of it. -
LGR, the guy who made the SimCity retrospective, Reviews SimCity (2013)

The game itself is rated E10+. However, Origin is for 13+. Since the game is only available through Origin, it is defacto 13+. -
Wow. This guy said many of the things that we are all thinking. let's send this to Maxis so they can see some player complaints and desires. If they fix/ add them, it should be as an update so people won't have to pay more for what should have come in the game. My idea (if it is feasible) is for expandable cities. Land might be able to be bought, thus expanding the city slowly (like annexation). Maxis should also display the tests that led to city sizes being limited and say if the current size is the biggest it can be without slowing down or crashing player's computers.

SimCity's AI, a big problem
nataniels3 replied to arbogli's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
That is really annoying with specializations. I built a processor factory and a recycling plant for alloy. The recycling trucks deliver at the end of the day and follow each other down the road. Thus, my recycling plant is closed more often than not and I have to import alloy. But, when I imported alloy for my processor factory, various businesses in the city took it, so I have to import more alloy. The trucks also take the most idiotic paths. My refinery and processor plant are 1 block away from each other yet the trucks will drive several blocks west and then turn. This game needs a dispatch system. That is probably right. Notice that the wind blows 24 hours a day and never changes. I'm sure its the same for solar. Look out for global warming in the next patch.
