not quite what I had in mind. the 3 of them together with computercraft do add nice things indeed, but they're more tailored towards complex mechanisms/machines. well, what I'm looking for is basically a cosmetic mod that gives additional scifi-themed furniture and deco (and maybe blocks) rather than replacing vanilla content or adding a bazillion of things I'd never actually touch (like BC IC UE and CC do) unfortunately all the things that I've found so far are just texture packs (e.g. the one used on minetrek.net), but I'm using quite a lot of vanilla stuff even on my "themed" creations so a simple texture pack just doesn't do the trick.

following it for a while now, the first screens got it a top 3 spot on my next-gen-titles list, but now with the gameplay reveal? Mind = blown! EDIT I'm totally waiting for Watch Dogs and - being a fan of the series - AC4 and now of course The Devision. And I'm tempted to say The Division outruns AC as it slowly gets old imho.

Drack: nice big airport, good use of the 3 wide runways. also considerably logical taxiway layout. nice. Krisman: nice airport from what I can tell. art128: as always one nice airport you got there gil_alves: at terminal a, the taxi lines are a tad to close at the stands for comfort. when a 747 comes by there's just a few feet margin between the wingtip and the tailcone (test it). one tile more room between the stands and the taxi lines towards them wouldn't hurt at all imho. terminal b looks a bit better to me. apart from that a nice layout. Rocherga: nice futuristic design. not that realistic but still nice. I really like the plateau-like concept.

nailed it. and I just couldn't keep my fingers off mods... again... already at 15 or so mods just so I can build this ship the way I want it... or more so than without mods. furniture, smart moving, weapons... jeez just got myself a redstone mod to get some interactiveness into this thing... but it looks like real mod compatibility comes closer every minute, read something about a new texture handling in preparation of the new mod api... let's see what happens but I'll stick to 152 for a while now and keep it as a backup, just in case. EDIT: anyone knows of a MOD (not texture pack) that adds nice scifi-ish stuff like panels, furniture and the likes? all the things I found so far are texture packs and that's not what I need

my latest effort in wasting time in minecraft FAR from complete but it's getting there... slowly. 160 x 112 x 28... almost twice the size I had in mind but the size of the blocks doesn't allow for anything less without screwing up the look

Im sure it will eventually be available in japan, and most regions around the world. But I don't see it as a slap in the face to the biggest gaming market, I see it as an admission that they have 'lost' the Japanese market. The 360 sold poorly over there, and for them, especially around launch, they may as well focus on markets where they might make a sale. I thought that they would have at least released the XBone in Japan as a statement to Sony that they haven't quite given up in Sonys homeland, but it seems like they have. Look at all the bad aspects of the eggbock and think again. they haven't given up on Japan, they've given up on the entire globe. The only reason to buy an eggbock as it stands now are fanboyism and interest in exclusive titles. Apart from these 2 reasons, any sane mind would pick the PS4 imho. It aint perfect, nothing is, but it's far closer than what MS tries to sell. But I fear that MS will buy publishers to get early releases of games and even more exclusives in an attempt to keep the pace with Sony, just like they did it with the current gen consoles.
-
well if the current news stand their ground I guess this generation's consoles war's outcome is already predetermined. PS4 is cheaper, has slightly better hardware, no DRM, allows for used games, no all-seeing camera like in George Orwell's worst nightmares and does not necessarily need an internet connection. the latter 2 points send shivers down my spine, especially due to the latest big-brother-whistleblowing. permanent camera and internet connection? I think it's a matter of minutes rather than hours for the "right" (better wrong) ppl to make use of it in a not-so-privacy-respecting way.

there aint that much going on in terms of gta campaigns at the moment... but, I came across this picture here a few days ago and it's pretty much a nutshell of all my feelings about GTA V:
-
I use them aswell, they're quite awesome indeed. a tad too awesome for my system tho
-
I'm a bit disappointed too, could've had more sprawl, but this would also work against gameplay really fast. take a look at True Crime LA or LA Noire. Scale accurate but boring as hell (LA Noire not so much tho) but then again, if you try to get the scales matching, you end up with LS being as big as all 3 cities in SA combined, which is quite a lot. plus all the surounding landscape, figures are that LS takes about 1/3 of the map only and it is quite clear that R* has put the focus on the "surounding countryside". and after all I prefer quality over quantity really. what good is a 400mi² map like in Just Cause 2 when it is really just boring repetitiveness of greenery?
-
what? nobody going nuts over the intentional leak of the Los Santos map within the pre-order announcement? someone took a real good effort to piece together what R* offered:
-
not the reason I got it, neither the reason I love it, but definitely the reason it's the best GTA out there imho. no matter which open world city game I play, it always freaks me out when there's no backdrop. I'm fine with a little, there's no need for excessive woodlands, farmlands, wastelands but paaaleeeeaaaaseeee, don't let the scenery end with the last consecutive row of houses, it just feels so entirely wrong. anyways, R* just threw out another 4 screenshots to quench our thirst for more V
-
I'll probably focus on one player aswell, at least as long as it's possible to do so... who knows, maybe one takes a bullet to the soft parts and quits or something, R* always has a fetish for such twists. But on second thought I guess R* would make it worth our while to switch between protags even outside of the missions, my bet is you get other sidekicks and o/c a different look at the lore when playing with other characters... I can see Frankyboy gettin repo-missions as sidequests while that nutjob Trevor has to take care of his morally questionable enterprise just when Michael has to beat the crap out of another San Andreas sunnyboy tryin to mess with his daughter EDIT: and don't worry about the level of replicated detail, there's already bazillions of buildings identified, R* stays true to itself here; we'll get the usual quality so it's gonna be the best LA metro depiction ever

the bank heist mission had checkpoints. I failed plenty a time during the getaway and never had to run through the entire mission again. well, don't expect too many changes here. maybe more checkpoints on the longer missions but the best you would beyond that is that the skipping thing is back so you don't have to get to the mission starter yourself again. everything else wouldn't make sense as the route from mission starter to the actual mission has always been part of the mission design and story telling and has been enhanced in IV with different dialoges per try. Other than that I think you should reconsider you gameplay style sounds like you always run around, guns blazing away at everything moving. I barely die. tbh, I died more in SA than I did in IV because IV has - comapred to SA - a sophisticated cover system I utilize permanently during gun fights... over the titles, GTA has become much more tactical in terms of gunfights and if the impression delivered through the latest previews is true, this level is increased once more. all articles I've read so far (which is an insane 27 through all the languages I understand) agree on the fact that shootouts are much better and more complex, to a point comparable to max payne 3.
-
you do know that you can skip the part where you have to go back to the mission starter? but you're sort of right, the distances to cover are often pretty high and this might take quite a while. I prefer it that way tho, adds to the realism and helps to get in touch with the map a bit better.
-
I never really had problems with the gameplay. well, yes compared to playing with a pad, playing with mouse/keyboard sort of doesn't rock. and every now and then mission design doesn't feel too good but then again, it's still better than in 99.9% of all other games. but since GTA is the perfect example why the world is supposed to be the actual star in an open world game, like the landscape is the actual star in a wild-west movie, gameplay always comes 2nd to me and as long as it isn't screwed like it is in Sleeping Dogs (got it, played through it, got rid of it; just thinking of the car-handling sends shivers down my spine) I really can think of worse problems with the game... I must be honest, I've read every article I could understand in terms of language, especially since I knew that the setting will be Los Santos, which I hoped for altho doubted in in first place because I thought R* won't be SO obsessed with LA to release 3 LA themed games in a short time (MCLA, LA Noire and now V) and since every article praises the lord out of this game and the list of features reads like a gaming dream come true I honestly doubt this game won't live up to its hype or fail due to the gameplay, which also reads like R* finally listened

I really hope the car's weight against the suspension isn't modeled as overscaled as it is in IV, it really looks stupid when your car tilts like 45° with all 4 on the ground prior to skidding away... this video, even tho it's just talk and still pictures, sums up all the bazillions of may 2nd previews, and god it's crazy. this game is offically crazy. crazy crazy crazy. CRAZY! I really love the customization features they put (back) into game: Character customization includes clothing, haircuts, and tattoos Character skills/stats that can be improved Special skills: Franklin - Slow-Mo Driving Trevor - Frenzy mode, double damage (think adrenaline) Michael - Bullet time HUD includes bars for health, armor, and special skills. Radar is similar to a 3D GPS display. There is also a "sound cone" showing how much noise you make, which attracts enemy attention Vehicle customization at Pay 'n' Sprays is extensive, close to Midnight Club, INCLUDING PERFORMANCE Weapon customization includes clips, scopes, and flashlights Buying businesses and real estate to make more money Actually plan out heist missions San Andreas - the awesome it is - looks like a small child against V. Truely their biggest game ever!

now before this thread gets lost on page 2, here's another snippet of my latest airfield

yeah R* certainly has a nice hand for vehicle design and presentation and, maybe it's just me, but I feel like they sound much more convincing than they did in the IV series where they sounded extremely flat even on highend speaker systems...

TMW#16 - Kronis System | "Amateur Pirates"
GMT commented on Huston's City Journal Entry in Mass Effect: Beyond
wow... I never thought Taylor would be able to express my feelings accurately -
Rockstar did it again, with the michael-franklin-trevor trailer! it's actually 3 trailers at once so one might say R* put the bar another notch higher in terms of PR

yep gotta second that. one of the most incredible mods I've played yet. and, ironically, MP2 with the Cinema Mod gives you the best Matrix game up til now, even tho completely unrelated. there's also a map which gives you the lobby scene and the mansion entrance scene from the Matrix, together with this mod... You might just think it's an actual Matrix game you can do fairly amazing things with bethesda games. the overhaul mods for Morrowind and Oblivion are simply a gem, especially for Morrowind as it pulls the game into the Oblivion era... graphic wise. As for Oblivion, I like how it enhances the overall feeling of the map as compared to the original which feels empty and barren once you've played the overhaul. Same for Skyrim. there's quite a bunch of mods that dramtically enhance gameplay while staying lore friendly; one of the most simple yet awesome ones is Frostfall which gives you exposure to the climate and matching crafting-options like tents, fireplaces, coats and the likes to provide warmth and cover. But there's also a terrible amount of graphic mods which - provided you're pc can handle it - can turn you're Skyrim experience into a cinema-worthy look. I've modded my game with like 50 mods so far, mostly small, lore friendly gameplay/realism enhancing mods and only a few graphic mods but I'm already slightly lagging in maxed settings so I wonder what monster of a machine was used for these screenshots (provided the person plays the game rather than use it for pictures) as for more recent games, I must say I like the concept of Ziggys Farcry3 mod which turns it from your not-so-hard everyday open-world-shooter into a considerably realistic challenge that takes away literally every arcade-ish feel from the game. no minimap, no gang-colors, sparse map, no blinking items, no blips, more crafting ingredients,... over 100 things changed. I gotta admit, I've yet to download it because I wanna finish the game in it's original state first but it's definitely a top priority on my list of things to do gaming. and one mod you can't have this thread missing: the NAM. you can't name awesome game mods and miss the NAM for it is - despite this being an sc4 forum thus looking like a biased point - one of the best mods in terms of content and gameplay enhancement. period.

as long as you have ravens in the tower, nothing bad can happen to the airport... or something like this. I never really cared about functionalilty, but as long as you have these cool functionality-fake-lots used with custom airports, it doesn't matter if your airport fits on one tile or on 100.

I actually enjoyed capitalism 2. anyways, sometimes I feel like I have to add FIFA to the list. I must admit, I only played FIFA12 so far, but I'm utterly annoyed by the biased and illogical acting referees. the ever so slightest hint of a collision with the opponent grants me a booking, while the ai players always hit the ball... yeah right... sometimes I even get booked for things that happened like 20 minutes ago, no matter how often the ball was out of play. oh well then, looks like even virtual referees have a price... just like real life soccer I guess...
