there should be an auto-record thingy that automatically keeps your last 30 seconds of gameplay which you can trigger at any point to be saved as a vid. weirdest things can happen in this game. like, getting shot for "looking canadian"

there's busses but idk if you can ride passenger on them, from what I've seen so far, they just drive around. but you can ride the light rail system for sure. it's a mix of ground light rail and subway like it was in IV

I wonder if they implement a bigger vertical extent sometime down the road. I bet a lot of builders would appreciate more than 256 blocks vertical.

i aint that much into online... it's -gm-t- i think anyhoooo, did someone get the actually quite interesting concept of Franklin? a an afroamerican called Franklin Clinton... god I love those small details, no matter if they're intentional or not

What comes in the collectors edition? I get a money clip and a map with my preorder.
GTA V is the firs game I have preordered in over 10 years.

basically the same stuff the SE comes with (steelbook artwork, blueprint map, ability boost (25% faster recharge) more character customizations, stunplane challenges and more weapons) the CE comes with exclusives vehicles (hotrod, bike, blimp), GTA heritage characters (afaik it's niko claude misty) for online mode aswell as an electric sportscar, a V branded security deposit bag and a new era gta cap

yeah 3.5km is good enough. that's roundabout the length of the southern rwy at Heathrow and BA gets a 747 nonstop from there all the way to Arizona and there's even a380s starting on that runway. generally speaking, any paved surface is preferred simply cuz it's paved. grass runways are bumpy, very soft and as soon as there's precipitation, they're enormously slippery and even softer. it happens every now and then that light aircraft get stuck in mud. no go and think what'll happen to a packed 747 on a rainy day. however, in an emergency situation and with a heavy like the 747, I would actually take the grass runway simply because 4000m to stop is certainly better than 1500m, despite the worse surface.

I'd stick with the figures from the Saab brochure. first of all, they seem to consider the legal regulations layed down by the FAA (US) and the EASA (EU) aswell as the sole perfomance data (laws require a certain addition to the performance-calcualted TODR to increase the safety margin and to compensate for certain conditions on top of the performance data). and second, keep in mind that usually the TODR figures given are the lowest possible figures, calculated from a defined standard atmosphere (called ISA) on a field at sea level and on a dry, paved runway w/o slope. adverse weather conditions (higher temperature, lower density, higher humidity) aswell as adverse runway conditions (negative slope, non-paved, surface contamination such as water or snow or ice) and also field elevation have a degrading influence on takeoff performance, thus increasing the TODR, often to a point that you run into a FLLTOM (field length limited takeoff mass). again, it seems that the brochure keeps this in mind to a certain extend as it gives TODR for a field at 5000ft msl and with increasing ISA temperature deviations. ISA+15 means that the temperature is 15°C higher that it would be under standard atmospheric conditions. in this case, 5000ft msl would have a standard temperature of 5°C (15°C at sea level, 2° change per 1000ft = 10° colder at 5000ft), ISA +15 means it actually 20°C in 5000ft msl which is quite hot. the lower density due to the warmer air, the warmer air as such and on top of that the lower density due to the elevation give quite a lot of performance penalty on the engines. lol... so much to explain the graph in the brochure a bit... anyways, maybe this is why the figures differ by 500meters between the 2 sources linked above. I guess 1300m comes from a sealevel calculation. 5k ft msl is quite a stretch above sea level, thus performance penalty due to the thinner air is more than measurable. fyi: out of the same reasons, the 737 in it's regular setup is limited to takoffs and landings up to 8000ft msl or 12000ft msl with the high altitude landing system installed.

I just hope the driving isn't as ridiculously stupid as it was in sleeping dogs... the damage model... yeah it's toned down from IV, hard to judge from the videos, but tbh the IV model was a bit over the top. nice physics but at a certain point it was just unrealistic. too much deformation while still being able to drive and such... well let's see how it looks like hands on

here's to the full vehicle list from bradygames: and here's to a full load of leaked videos... I don't mind, but if you do, don't click!
-
what? where? moooooooreeeee edit: to get you an idea of the massive size, someone was creative with the bradygames map:
-
uhm... did you ever play any gta? all gta worlds have been islands...
-
boom... yep size does matter.

Map leak aleart!!!! brady games or whatever their name is, the guys that make the walkthrough book, well, their version of the map leaked through. of course that is not the "real" map as in it's is Rockstar's map, but since it's the game guide's map I guess one could say things are getting serious... uhm... yes, not the official map but the actual map. guess R* pulls up to par the next few days: certainly amazing to see the scale down left. pretty. damn.big.map. but, even more amazing to see is how damn close the best fanmaps are to the actual map:

see... this is why I want you to give your ac enough room to taxi across the airport: Credits to "3Setão" in the "Contato Radar Forum" what happened here is exactly what I was talking about. An Emirates 777 struck that GOL 737's tail with it's wings on wednessday while taxing around at Rio's Galeao Intl. No injuries and no major hickups at the airport, only the respective Emirates flight was canceled and postponed to the next day, took place with the very same AC as it seemingly was still airworthy.

you keep forgetting one thing tho: already half a year ago, we knew more about V than we did about IV even on it's release day. The IV hype was probably 90% driven by the expectations we had judging the game by what we got with San Andreas. Looking back at it, we didn't now s... about IV until it was finally released. We knew who the protag was, what his main story-frame dictated, a handfull of characters we met and, of course, the setting and what it'll look like. period. Thinking of all the little and small details we know about V, I guess the hype isn't too off. at least by far not as off as it was around IV. No doubt there's on or the other point at which we expect more than the game has to offer, but on he bottom line I guess the game can live up to the hype. pretty well in fact.

at IGTA5.com we've identified over 150 vehicles total, so the 97 cars can't be that off actually. Also, in terms of content, IV was a huge step-back compared to San Andreas. While I loved the satyric approach in San Andreas and the over the top sexual allusions I try to ignore them, but let's be said these parts got totally lost in IV (with roman being a blatant try to keep a bit of it up) as it was a much more serious/realistic approach. The main story aswell as the side missions were repetitive and - to me - more predictable than San Andreas' Also, San Andreas took much more inspiration from real-life events than IV did. there's basically just 2 real-life events that pop up in IV, terrorists and election campaigns, both roughly matching the timeline (post-9/11 NYC/USA and 09 campaigns). on the other hand, gang warfare, racist cops, the late 80s early 90s rags to riches boom, another high of the alien-hype round Area 51, another casino boom in Vegas plus the mafia, the cold war after the fall of the iron curtain,... you name it the game got it somehow. the whole storyline was on a much bigger scale than IV. of course, IV scetched the characters much better than San Andreas did it, but the huge downsizing in content both on and off storyline didn't match up to the increased character design and therefore dramatically reduced it's replay value. Plus everything you do storywise loses it's value once you get your hands on your target, nothing seems to have mattered in the first place, it's all about revenge. overall, the story was bottom down as pale as the city and me, I found it hard to relate to Nico, Johnny and Luis. Many people, incl me, also think of the lack of backdrop as a bad idea. Cities rarely are isolated islands, especially not those depicted. San Andreas fixed this, but IV got back to it. Speaking of the city, I don't need to go through graphics. it's obvious. the step from SA to IV was as huge as the step from II to III. period. and also very athmospheric, the over all greyish fall scenery underlines the story. since I compared IV to III, that's the best you can do actually. III was as much an experiment in visuals as IV was. and just like III changed the benchmark for GTA's visuals, VC and SA brought little increase in visuals (a higher poly-count and better textures yes, but the engine didn't change much, only remarkable improvement was the seemless landscape in SA) but an effin huge increase in content. Same with IV. RAGE was a blessing to the eyes but that's it about the game. the content came with TLAD and TBOGT. With V, it seems like R* learned from the "mistakes" (in lack of a better term) and figuratively smacks the content round our head. Not just is the amount of sideshows amazing with all the sports and activities, also the main storyline with the 3 intervowen characters and switching between at least gives a huge increase in possibilities for the storytelling part of the game. The visual improvements are also more prominent. the lighting is much better, the draw depths (especially at night) feels much more authentic due to other LODs and of course the small details are improved over IV. And in addition, R* took what they learned in landscaping from RDR and applied it to V. so overall, R* seems to be trying to fix what they didn't get right in the IV series. But I'm not sure whether it'll surpass San Andreas or not. San Andreas is, so far, the climax of the series in every aspect except graphics and the nostalgia is there for the best of reasons (just like our sc4-nostalgia). But graphics are always a bit of a slippery ground. No matter how breathtaking your todays graphics are, they won't compare to tomorrows graphics. Even gameplay experience isn't solid ground either, thinking of todays motion capture and tomorrows Oculus Rift and Virtuix Omni (which both are coming at the moment but to me are a thing of tomorrows gaming still as their not market-ready enough imho) compared to gamepad and mouse/keyboard. What I'm sure of is that V will definitely come to par with San Andreas so between these 2 games, there won't be room for "either... or" like there was between SA and IV (either good game or good looking game). oh well and all that judging from nothing but press releases. but it's honestly hard to believe that the personal hands-on (aka release) would prove that wrong... just 2 more weeks... unbelievable

We see, therefore, that war is not merely an act of policy but a true political instrument, a continuation of political intercourse carried on with other means.

so as a die-hard GTA fan I was fanboyed to it and never dared to lay my hands on any other such themed game. Now that I'm more of a sandbox gamer who loves open worlds and free decision making, I had to get to play Saints Row sooner or later. I recently got my hands on Saints Row The Third without ever playing any other SR title, and immediately fell in love with it's over the top crazy and humorous gameplay so it was no big choice for me to at least start to play Saints Row 2 aswell (sadly not the first title as it is eck-bock exclusive and I just can't stand this thing) and must say, it gave me sort of what GTA failed to do since GTA4, good laughs and crazy stuff to do. anyway, I really came to love this 2 games for afore mentioned craziness and wonder now who else is playing either title of the series and if so, what you like and dislike about it?

I'm at 59% just from doing sidequests and activities and only progress thru story if nothing else is left to be done. and I haven't even met shaundi yet. last story mission I did was downloading the AI into the CID ^^ great content balancing... not
