So what did you get for Christmas 2007 ?
The_Dalai_Llama replied to Easy Bakes's topic in General Off-Topic
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 for the Wii... the first one was good so I'm happy. Let's see... The Simpsons Season 10 on DVD, The Simpsons Movie, some gift cards, and cash. Overall, pretty good. -
The Great Debate- "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays"
The_Dalai_Llama replied to purpledaddy's topic in Current Events
Originally posted by: miguelkuk Saying Happy Holidays encompasses Christmas and New Year's, I think.quote> Yes, but it can also encompass Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. The problem I have with the phrase is that it just combines so many different celebrations and holidays that its meaning becomes deluded, I believe. Saying Merry Christmas or Happy Kwanzaa simply has more meaning. It's better to celebrate our differences instead of being insulted by them. There is nothing with saying Happy Holidays, but I'm not going to stop saying Merry Christmas simply because a few people get all worked up. Then there's the whole separation of Church and State issue in America... and probably in Europe as well, which is too politically correct, in my opinion. But that's another topic for another day. -
Despite whether this is real news or not, expect a reality show coming soon about the whole thing.

Alright, guys, let's take the "Christmas vs. Holiday" fight somewhere else. Now then, it looks good... very accurate depiction right down to Rudolph's nose. Although, may I recommend replacing the reindeer with llamas next year?

Looks like he already went over the Eastern Seaboard... and there's no presents under my tree right now. Santa must've missed my area or his nice standards are too high.

HM Queen Elizabeth II is longest living monarch in British history

I think most Americans are like me and find them totally obsolete. -
Originally posted by: DuskTrooper And of course, the mayor will declare to rebuild it as the "Crimson Planet", but that plan will be thwarted when citizens from Pluto will flood Mars during the rebuilding campaign. Pluto's status as a "NON Planet" will cause this mass exodus of illegal aliens seeking new jobs during the reconstruction of the great Martian city. They may have crossed the asteroid belt illegally, but they are still mostly hard working aliens. quote> So... the Cydonia Mensae would be like the Superdome?

It's a shame that the downfalls made more news than the inspirations by far.

Let's just hope all of these Spears kids don't get into show business... and at the rate those two are going, there will be like 50 of them running around repopulating Louisiana.

The_Dalai_Llama replied to KnowitallSim's topic in City-Building Games
For those who don't like clicking links... 1. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Activision - $49 2. Crysis - Electronic Arts - $47 3. The Orange Box - Electronic Arts - $37 4. World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Expansion Pack - Vivendi - $32 10. Sim City 4 Deluxe - Electronic Arts - $19 11. Sim City 5: Societies - Electronic Arts - $49 12. World Of Warcraft: Battle Chest - Vivendi - $38 13. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Collectors Ed - Activision - $60 14. The Sims 2 Deluxe - Electronic Arts - $33 15. Nancy Drew: Legend Of The Crystal Skull - Her Interactive - $20 16. Unreal Tournament 3 - Midway - $50 17. 15000 Games - Viva Media - $10 18. Paws & Claws Pet School - Valusoft (THQ) - $15 19. Puppy/Kitty/Pony Luv Pack - Activision - $20 20. Diner Dash JC - Cosmi - $10 The people at EA and Tilted Mill are probably disappointed at the sales, but if this means a true sequel with all the bells and whistles, I'm fine with it. On the plus side, take out the expansion packs and SCS is ranked 7th. -
It's been updated to add Curent Events threads and change a few outdated threads... I'll try to use more recent threads, especially for those sports-related.

The first ten years were great... the rest are a blur, though. I lost interest once the X series moved to the PS1. By the way, Mega Man 2 has to be in my top 10 favorite games list... Mega Man 3 might be in my top 20.
-
We now have some more added to the list, including a few from the Community Goings-On forum. I'll work on adding some from the Current Events, Gaming Talk, and even the Forum Games.
-
Wish granted, but this game doesn't belong here. There's already a game like this here. Closed.

Some group of scientists in South Korea have decided to clone cats with a protein that glows red under ultraviolet light. If you think I'm crazy, click here.

Xiao-Jin, China. This letter is always hard. And to remind everyone, especially Yankee fans... two-post rule, two-post rule, two-post rule. That is all.

Originally posted by: your_adress_here Currently the active NHL thread is 'NHL 07-08 Talk', in the current events forum. You might want to link that one, so as to not ressurect and old thread and have two threads on the same thing going at the same time. Also, there is the Headbangers Club in the Community Going-Ons forum, which is a relatively unknown place, but a cool place to hang out none the less.quote> So far I've only gone through topics in the General Off-Topic and those are in other forums. It's probably a good idea to expand to the other off-topic forums... I'll look through them eventually and I'll make the adjustments.

I wouldn't simply blame the casualization of games for SCS. SimCity has always been primarily a PC game, and PC gamers are a different breed... definitely more hardcore and looking for complexity and challenges. The casual gaming trend isn't the problem.

W00T!! W00t is the Word of the Year!
The_Dalai_Llama replied to purpledaddy's topic in Current Events
Well it's official... I'll be using the Oxford Dictionary from now on. -
Thanks, guys. Like I said, if you think a thread deserves to be in the directory, and I'm sure there more, just let me know.

By the way, Simtropolis and its subsidiaries don't condone placing small rocks in packages of SimCity Societies and returning them to Wal-Mart or any retail store.
-
And what's the deal with expansion packs? I mean how many times do we need to expand? Going back to what ManagerJosh said, he's got a point about the article. Yes, SCS was a disappointment, but we all we know is the CFO wasn't happy with something about SCS... it could really be anything from sales to the reviews to the reaction from gamers. If the CFO decided to go into detail about the game, then we'll know.

Originally posted by: Mikeaut1 Its good to see Led Zeppelin back! It seems like a lot of groups are coming back together recently; Led Zeppelin and The Spice Girls being two examples.quote> Don't ever make that comparison ever again. Now I'm not a big Zeppelin fan since they pretty much started their 25 year hiatus just before I was born, but you gotta respect them for giving it another go. One thing is for sure, if they decide to tour again, they'll need to build a Scrooge McDuck-style money bin so they can swim in their riches.
