  1. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

I can't texture a box whole. The testure gets applied to the top and two sides but not the other two sides and the bottom. Even with a UVW map it doesn't work. It means I have to create square shapes with flat planes wall by wall, and if I don't align them exactly oyu can see through the joins. http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/7681/darnedtextureproblem013ja.png align=baseline> If anyone has a solution I'd be grateful! Thanks, -Muzz

  3. New Haven-Another Tourists Guide

Thank you for your comments, today I have a background update for you. It does't include any pictures although future ones may. Future updates will refer to Background Updates so it's a good idea to read them now and save yourself trekking back to find it. @simzebu: Thanks, some of those are Fosterk's great work and can be found on the STEX, the others are Japanese and you should look in the Japanese BAT forum for them. @All: Thank you! The next update is on its way, hopefully next week. Background Update 1 You may be wondering about Calderwood. What is it's history, in this update I hope to explain things to you for you to understand in the future. So here we go, a little background first. Calderwood is an independent state in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is located between Italy and Greece, however the main part is in the south between Malta and Crete. Despite it's Mediterranean location, the country was previously a British colony, and it served as a great outpost for the crusades on the Holy Lands in the Middle Ages. However, the countries unusual climate has left many medieval buildings in ruins, and not much if its heritage remains. It's commonwealth roots have are in abundance however and the countries primary language is English. The second language is Spanish, a few place names are in Spanish and most older road signs have Spanish translations, these are from before the official language became English in 1994. Present day Calderwood is a very powerful country and has forged strong links with Britain, the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain and many more European countries. However, the country is rather intolerant of dictatorships, although strangely enough it is very close with the socialist states of Bostalk and Giran de Cani, two socialists in the SCJU. Calderwood has been on the frontlines of wars against the Soviet States in history, and has recently launched a war on the corrupt socialist nation of Seldonia, an island to the west of the Caladian Island after a vicious terrorist strike on Calderwood. First Millenium Calderwood In the years when the Romans were going around Europe, the large island in the Mediterranean Sea was not known of. The Greeks had seen it but not landed on it, and practically no one else knew of it, except from a civilization that was wiped put before they could claim it. The island was unknown of, and sat alone in the middle of mayhem. That was until 456AD. We now move our story nearly 2500 miles North West, to Scotland. At this time in Scotland, the Picts were raging around, scaring away the Romans back to England. But a group of about 20 Picts were not happy with the barbaric ways of these early Scottish settlers, and packed up into their coracles and left. They did not know where they were going, but they were looking for somewhere, anywhere to call home. After sailing down the West coast of the British mainland, around Spain and Portugal, they managed to pass through the Gibraltar Strait, and into the Mediterranean Sea. And then, after more than 3 months at sea, the found land. They set up a settlement and glad of a new, safe haven, named it New Haven. The island was to be named Calderwood, after the lead settler. Soon, the Romans got wind of this and wanted it for their own, they invaded the island and killed every Pict who had settled there. They renamed New Haven Fort Throssicus and had it for many years. But when Rome was on it's last legs, they abandoned Fort Throssicus to help out at home, the diverse climate ate up nearly all signs of life ever exsisting on the island with it's storms and gales, except for one stone monument carved into a rockface at the site of Fort Throssicus/New Haven: A celtic cross with the words New Haven founded 457AD, capital of Calderwood chisseled in Gaelic. Calderwood at the beggining of the second Millenium For hundreds of years more, no one ever came to the island, it was left to the elements, but the Gaelic carving remained, it was read again in 1023 by British explorers. New Haven was repopulated and a castle built on Calden Hill overlooking New Haven. Soon, the island became an outpost for the British crusades on the Holy Lands. A little known fact, is that centuries before Spanish Conquistadors headed for South America, they headed East and found an island, they took over this island and named it Larajan. They set to to claim the much larger island East of Larajan, but were chased back when they expected the island to be deserted, but where attacked by the British who already had it. The Laraonians have always had a great dislike towards the Caladians on the island, triggering events many centuries in the future... Calderwood in the Middle Ages and late Second Millenium The Caladians went about setting up more places on the island, and this period was rather eventful, the events defined the country for years to come, here are the major events: 1574: Calderwood's first Monarchy is chosen, King Henry I takes up the throne in the Royal Palace in Kingsmeadow (called Benningswood back then, but named Kingsmeadow a few years after). He was in power for 34 years, until he died at the age of 58. 1612: The Black Death reaches Calderwood, it is brought from Britain who got it just over 50 years earlier. 1655: Neighbouring Larajan is renamed Seldonia after King Seldon came to power, he was not in fact Spanish as the name gives away, but came from the area later to become the Soviet Union, bringing with him a very early form of socialism. 1691: A group of 120 Seldonians wishing to escape Seldonia flee to Calderwood, they are grudgingly accepted, and form the reasonably strong Spanish presence in the country today. 1717: The Pictish carving is reported gone. This is the first recorded transcript of the carving not being there anymore. It is likely the carving disappeared long before, but it is not recorded when or how. The way the record is written suggests that the carving was gone more than 200 years previously and it was not gone overnight. 1834: The first Caladians travel to America. This will forge strong trade links with the nation which will be useful in the future. 1914: Calderwood remains neutral during World War I, but supply their allies with their own weapons which helped win the war. 1939: Calderwood opose the Nazis during WWII, Caladian casulties were high, but appeared to give the Allied forces a chance to strike. 1973: A Caladian secret operative is discovered in Belarus, this causes international outcry and weakens Calderwoods links with the Soviet nations. 1989: Seldonia's first in a series of attacks on Calderwood. The airport at Darekalona is the target, 27 people were killed in the bomb blast in the multi storey car park. 2000: The Millenium Bug fears are put to rest across the world, except in Calderwood. The work of hackers crashed the New Haven stock market and caused mayhem in the Ministry of Defence. Since, the stock market has become one of the most stable on the planet. The hackers are still being tried, their defence is It was a joke. Our history lesson is over people! I hope you enjoyed reading the history, the future updates will relate to events here, so its best to know what I'm talking about then. Thanks for reading, -Muzz

  11. Airport BATs

First off I am in no way an expert at BAT and if you want quality head for NDEX or BSC or one of those guys. I am a begginer and I feel I am good enough to start a thread about my BAT work. But what is fun with saying This is a building and this is one that is completly unrelated. Like that guy who does tourism BATs (ak someone?...Sorry) or Superstar with his UN project or fosterk with his ships, I will be doing Airport BATs! These will be designed to be used in conjunction with Joerg's Airport Pack and will add a little diversity to your airport complexes. These are what I will be doing first: Small International Terminal, New Control Tower, Large International Terminal and Cargo Centre. Stay tuned for updates!
  12. Airport BATs

Here is an EXTREMELY poor sketch of my current project aptly named the Quad Arm Terminal Project. Laugh if you wish at my poor skills, the design would be better explained; a central section with an entrance hall and four arms ending in hexagons off the centre. I'm hoping to use my downloaded meshes with this: http://img307.imageshack.us/img307/7892/quadarmterminalplan014ce.png align=baseline> The red lines are security fences that I'm BATting as props, the blue lines are parking spaces for the planes and the yellow is equipment storage; airstairs and the likes. Thanks, -Muzz

  17. hkabat-forum-threads Massively Gigantic Japanese BAT Gallery

Date: 7/29/2005 1:51:12 AM Author: Planck Greetings everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this message, nonetheless, I'd appreciate any replies! I've been a reasonably active member of these forums long ago, before Rush Hour was released and in the time of the first Lot Editor. However, after some time I stopped posting and consequently playing SC4. (Shame on me ) But after a couple of years, I came back and acquired Rush Hour, and discovered so many new tools like the BAT and the new Lot Editor. However, I'm still a newbie in the matter of these new buildings, so here is my question: Is it possible to work on a city by installing new BATs, in a way that all the American/European looking buildings go away, making the city substantially 'Japanese-like'? I've tried this, but with little success since the small slum ocidental houses still appear at first, and consequently other buildings like that insist on coming. (I live in a small town in Japan, so I know that buildings are really different from the ones that come by default with SimCity 4). Of course, commercial buildings are similar around the world (including Japan - see the centre of Tokyo...), so they could be used from the other city styles, but I was thinking if other buildings (mainly residential zones) could follow the japanese pattern... By asking this question, I mean, substitute the buildings... or is plopping them the only way that you'd have a true japanese-looking town? Also, I had an overall look on the links, read some stuff, but could not find any True Japanese Tanbo BAT (Rice Paddies that are everywhere here!). Anyone knows if these exist? Sorry for the long message. I'd be thankful for any replies. Thank you! quote> Take a look through the pages of this thread, further back you can find replacement houses that replace current SC4 buildings with Japanese style houses and shops. There are paddy fields on this site, search for paddy or JBM (I think that's who made them) on the STEX. Hope that should help you, but I'm sure eddiem will know of more Japanese stuff to help you out.

Date: 7/28/2005 6:17:41 AM Author: toxicpiano Date: 4/30/2005 4:28:10 AM Author: The boy formerly known as Evil Muzz I've got a problem with lights. I have three free spotlights under the front canopy. But they don't light up at all. They have the name 'nitelightFspot01' and so on. I would appreciate help on this as the model is very nearly finished, just a few things to touch up and then do the lights and then it can be exported, lotted and transit enabled by Swamper77. If anyone knows what to do then please tell me! Anyway, here's a picture of it just now: http://img248.echo.cx/img248/9169/modernterminal99um.png align=baseline> It's a bit too big to find on the render screen so you can't see all of it, but nothing has changed at the front anyway. Comments? Suggestions? Please post 'em! Thanks -Muzz did you ever finish this? because it looks stunning, you could always email someone so they can render it. I'd be happy to help. i would email you the SC4 file back so you could put it into the lot editor and upload it onto the STEX. just an idea... quote> Yes, I sent it to TEOM, I'm just hoping he got all the textures or he won't know to render it now...

Thanks for the comments! I've got something to show now. Please note that I did NOT do these meshes, I downloaded them from a 3D meshes site. I also have downloaded a B737.
