Date: 9/29/2004 10:21:36 AM Author: ejc hey! I'm currently building up hong kong island... but it is very difficult; lots of abandonement and traffic time rises because of the congested tunnels underneath victoria harbour Trying to get it done but I have a hard time on this part of town.. damn Hope to get to you'll soon Cya & greetz from Hollandquote> That's odd because two of the three tunnels underneath the harbour aren't usually congested... and traffic is quite light in the Western Harbour Crossing because the tolls are at least double that of the other two tunnels! Here's a tip: if you haven't done so already, use a combination of elevated highways and avenues along the north shore of the Island... that should help to reduce commute times and abandonment. By the way, how is the mass transit system going? Is it congested as well?

Wow, this is absolutely stunning! I really, really like the way you're presenting this CJ, it does justice to the very city where the skyscraper was born. If only someone had BATted the various buildings along the Chicago River, they make a fabulous ensemble. I wish you good luck with this!

There are lots of things I like about this CJ, from the region itself (it's gorgeous!) to the way you present your cities. Your suburbs are very leafy and Victoria's city centre is very attractive. If I was a Sim I'd want to live there! It was really creative of you to mirror real-life events in your CJ's storyline... I love how you did the exact reverse of the Quebec separatist movement, that was very, very clever. I think I'll settle for Proposal B, more skyscrapers would add pizzazz to your city. By the way, is the northern part of the region (Province of Kennedy) based on the real-life terrain of Vancouver Island as well?

Wow... this region is fabulous! Can't believe I missed it earlier on. I really like the way you scatter cities all over the region, sooner or later it's going to become one huge megalopolis! The names of the cities are very original, I especially like Titanium Springs and Ironborough. It's great to see that you're even drawing names from Greek mythology... keep up the great work!

Those screenshots look great, ejc! I especially like how you did the Int'l Airport; the ground level carparks look just like the ones in real life! Author: mattc005 I can't wait untill you get to Hong Kong Island (I don't know the proper name..). It's one of the places in the world I envy. I know HK has a lot of angeled streets, so I would say use roads for more realism (streets inhibit growth too!) )quote> You're right, mattc005, the island's proper name is Hong Kong Island. Reading your post (especially the part in italics) made me smile because I live on the island!

Wow! This is very impressive... I live in Hong Kong and this is the most accurate Hong Kong CJ I've ever seen! Chek Lap Kok Int'l Airport looks just the way it should and the shape of all the land masses are just about perfect. Actually I'm working on my own Hong Kong region right now, but that region concentrates on the main urban areas around Victoria Harbour... so at least we won't be competing. It's interesting to see how you've developed the new towns first. Don't forget to add the new West Rail line, which runs from Tuen Mun (through Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long and Tsuen Wan) all the way to West Kowloon. I found it funny how you pointed out that Hong Kong was a British Colony... because Hong Kong was handed back to China over seven years ago, in July 1997. But anyhow, I wish you the best of luck... you're going to need it if you stay true to Hong Kong's road system!

Well, I left Hong Kong around two weeks ago. Right now I'm on holiday in Montr

Woah... this region is super-impressive as always. The detail and the accuracy of the transport infrastructure is simply mind-boggling... I wouldn't have the patience to hand-measure all the roads and railways if I were to build this city.

Date: 6/13/2004 11:17:21 AM Author: Funny you mentioned that.....For now I am thinking of using the black hole garbage lot. I have even placed it in my downtown area.......Thanks for responding to one of my problems I need to solve.....Having a super lot would be perfect......I'll have to ask a few members of the Modd Squad. Nice to see someone again trying a real city and even nicer to see I'm the inspiration. If you need any help with Hong Kong just ask......That will be an interesting region to do. A few people have started there own regions lately of realistic cities....each has its own challenges. No problem... I can already foresee that I will need the same super lot in the near future. I'm going to have the same problem, especially with the small-sized cities. And the terraforming tips that you posted earlier on in the thread will be very helpful for me - terraforming the mountainous terrain of Hong Kong is going to be a pretty tough challenge!
