wouanagaine: Haha I also love experimenting with things in the game when I have nothing better to do and not in the mood of playing a city seriously after the experiemnt I normally unleach mother nature's fury, destroy everything and then exit SC4 and go to sleep. Thanks for commenting! You must take care too! jacqulina: Hi jacky! Woah it is great to see you around and thanks for the welcome to page [my lucky number] message! Haha and you've hit double jackpot since 14 isn't only mu lucky number but blue is my lucky colour too!!! GMT: Hi there! Great you've enjoyed reading this CJ and thanks for the lovely compliment muacks! patriots_1228: You're welcome amigos. Since I will be free for the entire Nov / Dec I'll try my best to render any help I can as when school opens next year I'll be again loaded with lots of stuff. Thank you for taking your time out for commenting! Cheers! dadyrghluv: Thank you! Hope you find the tutorial useful to you too. Botania is surely back in action and stay tuned for updates (that will be posted real soon!). Charles Rodulfo: Hi Charles nearly misspelt your name as Rudolfo. Sorrie. gotta edit. The canals are an optional as you can always use green grasses which comes by default with the game to fill up the spaces. The canals are for aesthetic uses only and I always overdo it. Thank you and see you around! Fallon144: Thank you so much for commenting fallon! Botania is supposed to be green but it turned up really colourful... maybe because my one of my sources of inspiration is from Choco's Green Depra which is not only green but jam-packed with colours too! The next update will be posted either tonight or tomorrow... do look forward to it!

Ooops I think the previous attempt to post a comment failed. Nevermind Anyways, you have a really nice rural setting over here! I simply love the way you make farms near the highway, just like what is happening in the rural areas of my country... so realistic! The suburbs are nice, clean and most importantly, green! Haha anyway I like greenery and trees I guess people will have a really bumpy ride on the section of the highway: Keep it up P.S.: Just my 2 cents. Maybe you can try converting the PNG images to JPEG as it will load faster on the browser of people who have slower internet connection. And also you can hide the toolbar by clicking the small little button at the botton left corner during screenshots.

Argh double post so sorry jeronij!

Wow jeronij I love the way you construct the river and waterfalls! I tried a few times but failed... you're a ploppable water master! And great use of the ploppable trees and plants around the river to create a very nice effect! The animations are also great! I enjoyed looking at them over and over again~ Anyways, if the animations are killing your bandwidth maybe you can upload them to fileden? Hope this helps!

Gah I feel so guilty for being a lurker for such a long time. It's time for me to stand up I truly enjoyed myself by reading your newspaper articles! They are interesting and jam-packed with news and updates. Great job for the newspapers Nice photoshopping effect for the teaser shot... and now I'm anticipating for the next update!
-
Thanks for the lovely nature shots! I think you established a good blend of ingame shots and real nature shots... and this makes your CJ a really refreshing one! The farmlands are very nice and they look great especially in the evening shot!
-
Just a quick reply to bat, thanks for your support and comment! See you around! Okay, back to the topic. Well I've made this tutorial over the weekend about making farmlands. In Botania the farmlands are very detailed since I've a lot of time to play with Simgoober's irrigation canals and other stuff. I was thinking that since in the next few updates I will be showcasing some of Botania's farmlands so I would like to share my farming experiences with everyone beforehand. Hope you all find this tutorial useful! Oh, and here are some tips: If you find the tutorial too demanding (e.g. need to crazily plop and align the canals) and can actually make do without them. You can just plop green grass tiles around the farmlands-to-be to create a similar effect! Here is a screenshot for an update a few pages back about Crater City: AND Hope this helps!

I am always and ever as fascinated by your mapping skills dedgren! Thanks for sharing with us the wonderful views of Alaska how much I wish I could be there... awwww. Thanks again for the comparison and evaluation of the differences between Simcity 4 and real life. Frankly speaking it needs a person to be very analytical and critical to do so and you've done it dedgren! Congratulations and this CJ is truly one of my favourite. The contents are simply too juicy! Oh, and regarding the stark differences between the population density... I think the blame should be on the 16m / tile scale. Not everything can fit into the 16m / tile scale, for example, having 32m wide avenue is horrible wide! In my country each avenue lane measures about 1.5m and I think none of them will exceed 2m (that's why I think). That'll mean that the 4 lane wide avenue, with comparison to real life width of the lanes, should actually be at least 16 lanes wide in accordance to the proposed scale. Just my 2 cents Wonderful discovery you have made over here through the course of this CJ. Keep up the excellent job and I can't wait for even juicier stuff! [Edit]: Thanks to rayden for his reminder... 1000th post on 3RR!

Shadow Assassin's Ensenada. Discover the mystery.
teddyrised replied to Shadow Assassin's topic in SC4 City Journals
Woah shadow_assassin you've once again outdone yourself in this CJ! You keep breaking new heights and defining excellence! Wow. Wow. Wow. The suburbs are horribly nice and sprawling! How much I wish I could make nice and yet realistic looking suburbs like you. And it is pretty nice to know that, hey, instead of sticking to the norm (which is desperately trying to make a leveled bridge across any body of water or just level the ground) you built the causeway! Frankly speaking I've never seen such a thing before in CJs and I think this is totally cool and fresh! What a great idea! I actually thought that the water near the causeway is polluted or somewhat since it appear brick-red but looking at the region picture I realised that it is most probably the cliff mod / beach mod. Is it? corret me if I'm wrong. And the railways are laid out so nicely that I can't believe West Brackenfell is a fictional city! I thought it was so real cities which you got the idea from. Wow SA you're awesome! Keep up the good wonderful awesome EXCELLENT and PERFECT work! Thanks for sharing such a lovely city with all of us Simtrops. -
Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
teddyrised replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Hi blahdy! I'm glad to know that everything is going smoothly! And woah awesome shots and renders you have over there And I guess I'm falling in love with the street lights because the blue hue makes the look really realistic! Keep it up, and I will be patiently waiting for its release. Take your time -
Thank you again everyone with your support! Haha just some random ramblings - I'm staying over my friend's house tonight we are going to school tomorrow together in a group of 5. Yeeha Charles Rodulfo: Oh dear! You have to take care okay? Don'tgo outdoors as the situation sounds terrible... asturianu: Thank you for your continuous support! Hope to see you around and thanks again! Yoman3: Gee thanks for acknowledging the BSC parks! Haha I simply love them as they are not only healthy for my sims but also eye-pleasing! But I must admit I am over-obsessive with them and I've over-plopped them. pickled_pig: Thank you pickled_pig, and yup school work is pretty burdening before the exams but now the exams are over. I am very honoured that you took your precious time to comment on this CJ because you said that you've little time to go on to ST. Woah! Thank you!!! yoder7652: Hey there thanks for your comment! See you around! Okay so after the replies I've prepared a newspaper cutting. It is supposed to be published tomorrow the 9th of October (+0800GMT) but then this CJ looked so deserted and empty... I feel so guilty so I've decided to post it today (8th of Oct) Hip hip hurray. Hope you like it!

Wow crazychicken another wonderful feat you've achieved with this update! The gated communities look very nice in your city's tropical settings! The 1X1 houses fit so snugly into the tropical greenery and I'm totally blown away *waaaaah~* Keep it coming!
-
Wow Jeronij the mosaics are awesome and the custom lots look very nice indeed! They can blend nicely into the landscape since I didn't even noticed them at the first place Great work and keep it up! [Edit]: And... WELCOME TO PAGE 88!!!

Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
teddyrised replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Omg blahdy the ramps are 110% realistic! They simply blew me off my feet *wind blows~* Oh, and on the other hand, it is really a shame that the tiniest details get lost when rendering the models for SC4... but they still look awesome! Thanks for your time and effort... where is the trixie? -
Wow nice construction pictures! Those construction props are simply so realistic Gee I wanna try to make a construction picture next time. Anyways, the wooden roller coaster looks very nice amongst all the parks and PEG's pond and streams. The suburbs are spacious and filled with greenery, which is very eye-pleasing The industrial areas look dirty but in real life that's the way it looks like The railyard looks very nice indeed! Keep up the good work, and I will check back often

Hey dedgren, glad to know that you're still enthusiastic about 3RR Do not worry about how others perceive your CJ. If they decide not to post comments or even view it, they're at loss as lots of valuable lessons and insights could be learn from this CJ. I will be always there to support you spiritually dedgren... so fret not, and move on Take care!

Another excellent update! The suburbs are as beautiful and as realistic as before, and good use of the parking lots and large shopping malls! They perfectly complement to the suburbia layout and feeling you're trying to create. And looking at the map you must have spent countless hours plopping! I wonder how your mouse can handle all the clicks do you plop grass lots on open spaces too? And wow, the last nighttime screenshot is simply beautiful! The cloverleaf intersection looks very charming at night! Keep up the good work! And will check back often
-
Wow Darmok your agricultural areas are simply breath-taking! The agricultural zones are laid out veyr nice and the rural trails are a perfect complement for these areas! And I like the way you present your CJ, which does not only include the beautiful areas of your city but also the process of planning and constructing the city. This is exceptionally benefitial to many of us and city planners as sometimes when we run out of creativity and ideas we can take a peek at your CJ and get some inspiration. This is awesome and keep up the good work Darmok!
-
Woah choco very nice use of the high speed rail mod! I've never been able to incorporate them nicely into my cities... and your screenshots taught me how to use them effectively in my cities. Thank you! The industrial zone looks wonderful! Ranging from the breakwaters and the cement tanks to the seaport pieces and the oil refineries, gold depra is another sucessful CJ over here. Keep up the good work!

I think anilber and N_O_Body brought out some really important point - simctiy 4 assumes that there will not be any disease outbreaks... ebola and black death would be fine, just any population health crisis will make simcity 4 disaster more realistic. We really need waves, I mean, the incorporation of water physics into the game. If you try making a lake then make a big meteorite crash into it, upon impact a little splash is created and nothing me. If water physics are incorporated large waves can be created... not feasible in the short term since it requires restructuring the entire game since if physics are incorporated it makes the game more demanding. Underwater earthquakes can lead to tsunamis, metorite crashing into the water can bring up large waves and etc... I am thinking that if dams can be built in the game, maybe earthquakes and heavy rains can trigger it's collapse... and heavy rains can also cause flooding in low lying areas (again, physics needs to be incorporated into the game). And this is even more possible and realistic if simcity 4 allows construction below sea level (like in the netherlands). Like what antaryjczyk have pointed out, we need landslides too! And soil liquefaction during an earthquake will also add to the extend of damage. Simnce simcity 4 also have network tunnels (like roads, rail, highway) maybe the game can randomly but not too often create disasters like tunnel collapse, tunnel fires. And if the tunnels are underwater (e.g. tunnel going under water, idea adapted from the movie "Daylight"), maybe the tunell fire leads to tunnelt flooding. Looks like I got carried away...

Hy dedgren, do not feel so depressed about the issue. The crux of the problem does not lie with your CJ's content, but how people perceive it. You know, people tend to be more interesed in picture driven CJs, but I must say that CJ is not only a show case of our achievement. A city journel is a complete representation of a growing city, developing city which needs lots of before-hand planning and layout. And I am very proud to announce that dedgren you have managed to incorporate all these substances as a whole into your CJ. We always aim for the achievements at the end of the journey, and we tend to miss out all the sceneries along the way. Isn't this happening again here? People just crave for achievements, and they do not care about planning... but thanks to you dedgren you made me realise the beauty and the effort of planning. A city journal is not all about a successful city but also encompases successful planning. Personally I think that mapping is a very fresh aspect of CJ, that's why they do not get much attention. But hey dedgren, everybody do appreciate and welcome these kind of new aspects. We are open to new ideas and concepts, and I am most willing to support whatever you do (as long as they are morally justified which is basically almost everything you do ). It is very tiring and it takes a lot a lot and a lot of effort to do maps for your CJ, and even more effort and time when you try to scale them to real life models and evaluate upon them. Now, this is what I msut admit we're lacking. Evaluation. Many CJs are a display of achievements but there is a little evaluation... like evaluating the process etc. This is exceptionally nobel of you to do so especially when you know that you're getting only a trickle of visitors. But don't give up dedgren. This CJ is as interesting as before, and I don't see why you should take 3RR down. Take care dedgren. 3RR remains as one of my favoruite CJ and hey amigos, never give up!

Wow choco your latest update is simply awesome. Love the green landscape, the european houses, the brick-red streets and the navy-blue waters! They make your screenshots look amazingly perfect... and I really mean it, especially the mosaic where there is water and land and houses... nice! And it is my pleasure to announce that Green Depra is always one of my favourite CJs around! Haha.

Thank you everyone for your replies... they managed to flip a page! Woah! Anyway, I am currently working on a farming tutorial... stay tuned! I still have a few wrinkles to iron out so maybe I can post the tutorial tonight or tomorrow evening. Before I make personal replies, I would like to say a big big big THANK YOU to everyone who commented and read this CJ. You are the main forces that kept me going on and reviving this CJ Oh, and thanks for all your birthday wishes! wouanagaine: Thank you for being the first to comment after Botania's revival! So here are some quackies for you *quacks*. mayormommy: Oh, the streets are wiggly and might look a little weird because I make them to conform to the shorelines that are curvy in nature, and making them diagonals does not make them conform to the shoreline. Thanks for commenting! jacqulina: Welcome of page 14 since you flipped the page and 14 is my lucky number! Teehee~ your comments are always as sweet and as supportive as before... thanks! Shadow_Assassin: Thank you! Hope to see you around, and your compliment is simply so sweet dedgren: Haha dedgren I'm 17 only so I guess getting 365 days older doesn't kill much of my brain cells, so I can resume my playing and CJing experience Thank you for your comment! And yes, I will strive to do well in my studies too! Tommy_Vercetii3: Oh, I've also notiuced that... I'll try to crop the image such that the buttons will not be seen next time Thanks for commenting! SpecialEddie: Don't worry about missing the updates since they're always there for you to read wow how do you know that I'm from malaysia (although I'm currently residing in singapore)... it is quite true that the place where I live greatly affects my building style. The exams are over so I can whole-heartedly play my region... yahoo! I was only trying to be strict to myself (with lots of self descipline)... so that I can do well for exams owenluby: Yay! Botania is back! Great to know that you're rejoicing too! Thanks for your good luck message! ThomasAH: You love the mosaic? Thank you!!! It's okay for missing a few updates since they're always there Hey dude it will always be willing to link your CJ. Just tell me in case Zorturia is revived / you got a new CJ, and I will gladly link it in my sig. Charles Rodulfo: Thanks for being so supportive of this CJ charles! It is simply so nice of you!!! Hmmm, but I do not get this: Good thing you're not celebrating your birthday here in the Phils... =)quote> Sorry I'm always a little slow at understanding... haha. XD asturiamu: Tnanks for taking your time to comment! Lastly, a big thank you to everyone.

Wow! Very good choice and placement of wall to wall buildings near the intersection... they look gorgeous! And haha, the screenshots doesn't look blurry anyway... those are the side-effects of compressing the image resolution. But they look nice, especially the other with the use of different type of parks to make a nice looking city-centre park! Keep up the good work!

Shadow Assassin's Ensenada. Discover the mystery.
teddyrised replied to Shadow Assassin's topic in SC4 City Journals
Great choice and use of wall to wall buildings! They make the ctiy look so much european and nice! And the green areas and BSC trail parks... I have to say that you've mastered the way you use them to achieve green-belt effects! And they make your city look more environmentally-friendly too The nightshots are also very nice... all the lights and the buildings. You have great photoshopping skills! I bet you've invested loads of effort in making the downtown pictures look nice and the nighttime shots look realistic... nice one! Keep it up!
