I am having trouble trying to get a road connection into my harbor so that it can function. Anyone have a technique that works?

It seems most megastructures require 50 office's in the initial build phase. How does one go about getting 50 officies? I've never had much luck with that.

Poor designer (me). I presently only have two cities going, each around 120k pop. Since buses are an expense, it hardly seems worth it at this point. I don't have any traffic areas that look the least bot congested to the point where buses would be of any help. However, I want to add them anyway, just because they look cool, LOL. My best idea may be to start a 3rd city, and do the design where the industry is way off in it's own corner of the map and everything else away. Then give the "sims" (can we use that term here?) buses to get to work!!!

A well reasoned, thoughtful essay. Thanks soltangris for the effort. My only regret is that such an effort should even be needed. Why can't people just enjoy the game for what it is, and the obvious potential that MC seems to want to work toward. Give them a chance. If you want to wait for perfection, you will wait a long time and miss a lot of fun along the way. CXL is not SC4 and as far as I know, one is allowed to play BOTH of those games! It is fairly easy (for me, anyway) to envision down the road an "expansion pack" (call it City Life XL-II if you need to) that would include busses in SP--just an example.

To "soltangris"--Thank you so much for providing this in-depth look at the buses. Do you know if MC will update their "manual" to include such a presentation? What's the point of having an on-line accessible manual if you don't keep it up with the game?

Sorry, posted this the first time I don't know where. How do I take a screenshot. The "Print Screen" key doesn't seem to do anything. Where would I find the screenshot if I took one? I am running VISTA.

How large (population) do you think a city should be, before installing a Blueprint in it? They seem very expensive to build, but then I'm a very poor city builder, LOL. Is there some minimum of positive cash flow one should have (and hopefully increasing from there). EDIT: Another question: What is "Upkeep Cost"? Sounds like more than one time--how often are you charged?

Still not clear on the "cost". Like I have a couple of blueprints (not activated yet). Each of them says "Upkeep cost 50,000," Is that paid when I place the blue print down in a city? Then when else--every "day" (whatever that is), or every time I add tokens to it for the construction?

It is not clear (to me, anyway) on HOW one builds a megastructure. I understand it requires TOKENS and takes TIME and that there are "steps." But, I've added in "some" of the required tokens, yet nothing is showing on the screen (the one that comes up when you click the "Manage construction" button) to indicate that part of the tokens have been received? Do we have to wait till we have the full accumulation of tokens for a phase and add them all in at once? As far as I can tell, I still need to add the same number of tokens that it started with.

Ah, that helps. So far I had only 1 type of the two types required. Now I see I need at least 1 of each type. Thanks for that information.

I've been getting the "citizens are subject to rationing" message and am wondering why? I have an assortment of farms, in fact 10 of them in one city. Is there something I am overlooking?

If one has placed the blueprint for a megastructure into their city, is there any requirement for getting the building done? For example, I've been "offered" a blue print. I've got a, at the moment, very small city started. Can I go ahead and plop the blueprint down, and then build on it when my city grows enough to handle it?

Thanks for the reply. The manual wasn't very clear, IMHO, concerning the megastructures. Yet they are one of the unique aspects of this city builder.

"Retail can be a lttile weird." LOL. This is probably an understatement. Seems like I read someplace you could have too much retail? Anyway, definitely something to think about.

Ah, retail to sell the food to the citizens! Duh, may be the solution. Will also check the tokens--would of thought 10 farms would be plenty but maybe not. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am having difficulty placing parks and/or plaza's in my city. Get the dreaded "must be surrounded by road message. But how big a road? How can you "surround it" when you can't place it down? Any hints would be appreciated.

Gave me an idea to try. Seems like you are saying the "park" will squeeze down to the box/circle you've set for it, though it won't grow to fill the space? Also I think part of my problem was not having completely flat ground where I was trying to construct. Thanks for your reply.
