As far as I can tell the only person who has spoken of the picture is Assange. However if it exists it is hilarious. But in any case it's a matter for Swedish law. But for a man so certain of persecution by world governments, he was certainly careless in his adventures. If everybody was out to get me then I would be much more circumspect in my personal life much less allow a trophy photo to be taken.

He was caught, not through any effort on the Militaries part, but because he committed a crime and bragged about it to a convicted felon, who being the man of honor he was, ratted him out. Deep Throat managed to never be uncovered until he decided to out himself, mainly because he could keep his mouth shut. The Wikileak cables are in and of themselves of no importance. Information overload will kick in and people will stop listening. It will slide off the front page and slowly become a small footnote buried deep in the papers who are printing them. In todays environment people have attention spans that are measured in terms of minutes. I'll throw some more numbers at you, if Wikileaks released a thousand cables a week, it would be close to five years before they finish, that's assuming that they don't have anything else to do. And now they have a rather large cache of documents on a hard drive that they are getting ready to release in 2011. Assuming their goal of encouraging leaks comes true, it's easy to see the long term outcome. The data will come faster than they can process it, they'll get buried and people who want information will have trouble finding it. The best source for reading the cables and articles on the cables is the Guardian Web site in Britain. They have a map interface with cables by area. I fell sorry for Manning, but he bought it and now he has to pay, and it's his own fault. I regret even more how this will probably give the right more fuel for their fear machine.

A lot of things posted here seem to have a bit of bias built into them. The Salon article at the top of the page has been disputed by the Pentagon. See this is the Washington Post. I realize the The Post is Fascist outlet for our government, none the less at least it appears to offer a small rebuttal. Manning has had visitors. He also has private counsel. He could challenge the nature of his confinement in civilian courts. You should not be surprised that Manning is taking low dose antidepressants. Look at his situation. If convicted of what he accused he could spend 50 years in prison. Life as he knew it is over. No wife, no family, no future. Oddly enough Manning was evidently being separated for not adjusting to Military life. I suspect but cannot prove that the Military is terrified of Manning showing up dead in his cell. There is no upside there. The New York Times clued Manning to nature of the video he "allegedly" leaked. He was prying in a classified network, the video by Mannings own words was left unencrypted in a JAG officers files. Neither the video or the cables would have been part of Mannings job, he saw them because he seemed to view himself as a hacker. If you think that he had no other options look at the history of the My Lai massecar, which was exposed without breaking the oaths of the soldiers who eventually brought it to light. If you believe that he read all the cables and discovered some conspiracy, then do the numbers, 2 minutes a cable to read, 347 days, reading 24 hours a day seven days a week. Perhaps Nonny Moose can read faster. While I don't have a problem believing the Military can get out there sometimes, it is a long stretch for me to believe that Manning will end up disappeared. In the meantime the evil US, and it's corrupt political elite, it's slanted newspapers, and brain washed Military, will toodle on.

Perhaps I'm stupid, but I don't see the problem here. Those who support this are simply saying that the combination is inherently dangerous, so don't manufacture it. As has been pointed out here it can be made if people really desire it. And it doesn't change the amount of alcohol available. People will find their own way to the grave if they wish. That doesn't mean we have to encourage them with product advertisements and packaging.

Sustainability can be easily enough defined, it's living within your means. If you spend more than you earn then you are living unsustainably. If you build cities larger than can be supported by the available resources than you are building unsustainably. It won't matter how efficiently they use those resources once they are used up or used faster than they can be replaced. Take a city like Phoenix. It is in an arid area. Ultimately water will be a limiting factor on growth. Since the water supply is finite than growth will be closely related to how it manages it's use of water. A city planner might look at that situation and recommend zoning regulations to favor native plants in landscapes, rather than more thirsty plants. Or to discourage the use of outdoor swimming pools where where so much water will be lost to evaporation. Identify industries that are not water intensive industries and encourage development in such a way to attract those industries. City planners work with ideals since cities are almost never planned. But they look and try to identify problems in existing cities and try to think of the best way forward.

Interesting legal opinion. I suspect that they are quietly trying to tighten things up. However you run the risk of doing what Julian Assange wishes them to do, which is choke the flow of information so badly it's useless. And in the atmosphere since 9/11 any politician who defends him risks his career. They rather be embarrassed by failing than hung for not trying.

My comment was more about Assange staying out of jail then any concern for his sexual habits. I could care less about that. It's about trust. I don't walk in dark alleys if I don't want to get robbed. If I don't want to open myself to sex charges, particularly if I'm unpopular with some Governments, than I would be very picky about who I cohabited with. Now he's pinned in a British Jail. How do you think that is working for him?

Had he been less interested in women and more interested in staying out of jail, he wouldn't have this particular problem. You can't be accused of what he is accused of if you aren't doing it at all, casual womanizing that is. I'll reserve my sympathy for the young man who will spend most of the rest of his life in prison.

Health care is a polyglot of services, many of which are indirectly sourced. I can really only make one direct choice of which I am aware of, my choice of my Doctor. After that things come into play that I can't control directly. His medical affiliations, the ancillary service providers he uses, and so on. I don't know if you have ever tried to look at the cost structure of medical providers but good luck if you do. You might die before you could figure it out. For transportation infrastructure, the public has no control over the cost structure. And governments are the only people building roads. The only other way to do it would be with toll roads controlled by private interests. As it is currently large transportation projects only get built in the Feds are involved. And even in situations where private intersts control the transportation system directly they are or were heavily subsidized by the Feds. Railroad land grants come to mind. The same for the Airlines. Communications are the only place where there is real compition in a capitalist sense. And it works fairly well. Because it is a bevy of individual products that I can make choices on.

There is no competition in big Pharma. Using Lipitor as an example. While they hold exclusive patent rights they will charge whatever they think they can without causing an uproar. As patent exclusivity falls away on similar products they then may feel pressure. Such as talked about in this link. Medicare, at least the last time I looked, was forbidden to bargain for price breaks by legislation. Which seems kind of stupid since they are the biggest consumer in the market. Go figure.

Actually running large surpluses is seen as red on the bar. Mine has been yellow, green, or red. I think it is related to the cost of living.

Part of the problem is human nature. We are designed to want to live. And nothing is likely to change that. We are also greedy. And everybody wants a piece. Again not likely to change. Well they seem to have really backed off on the difficulty. Working on the Three Valleys Map I'm just under 100,000. All the unlocks come much quicker. Have a least two of the oil bonus buildings and have actually had to unbuild two oil fields. Stage 1 oil fields, no stage two or three at all. I may have hit a bug. Apparently trades cancel but the money doesn't stop, at least until you enter the other city and maybe not then. Plazas are much easier to lay and don't have to be totally surrounded by roads. This make terra forming much easier. They seem to have twiddled with the economic cycle. I get random business failures without any of the usual culprits. The income level is not steady, it jumps around. And so it goes. Edit Some things never change. The roads are still borked. You still can't get reliable measurements with it much less charged for them. Given this I assume that there are still placement issues.

But no indication if they will continue it as a app. I've seen your cities on their forums and I'm going to try something similar.

Well, been playing for a couple of days, and compared to 2009, 2011 seems to be much easier to trade on. The farm unlock comes much quicker. I have less than 10000 pop and the merchant building is already available. Overall there seems to be more cash quicker. Omnicorp is a toothless tiger. I don't dare go for high res graphics especially the particle system. Instant crash, and corrupted saves. About half of the American house's won't build on water, what's up with that? More later if anyone is interested.
