  2. Simtropolis Beta Key Giveaway!

Where did anyone find those codewords anyway (Junebug and Onomonopeia)??
  3. Simtropolis Beta Key Giveaway!

Well, it would be nice to see what the game is like before you buy it. I really want to try this game out!

  5. Landfill bug or just a newb?

Did you zone your landfill on a hill? Because in one of my cities I zoned a landfill, and part of it was on a slight slope. I got the "trash piling up" messages, even when there was some empty landfill (the part on the slope).

There is a lot download on the STEX that makes a radioactive explosion at the first day of the next month after you lay down the lot. Looks pretty cool, but unfortunetly I can't extract it 'cause it's password protected!
  7. Show us your - Largest City Ever

This is my largest city, Marshall City: Downtown has 335,369 residents, 248,552 commercial jobs, and 21,190 industrial jobs. Here's a shot of the entire metro: Counting all the suburbs, the city has 599,069 residents.
  8. Show us your city, road or transit maps!

Here's a google-styled map I just created today of my biggest city:
  9. Maps

Thanks! I made just what I wanted.
  10. Maps

No one has posted on this topic for awhile, but I have the same question as Sim_Jesse, and can't find an answer to it. I have Arcsoft Photostudio, and have messed around with the perspective, but nothing works. Can someone tell how to skew the perspective of a picture so it looks like you're looking direcly down on it?
  11. Show us your Downtown!

Herodotus and Jacqulina, thanks for your comments Harmsy- those seawalls are the marrast embankment set, you can find them here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=16655
  12. Show us your Downtown!

There's some really well done downtowns on here! Here's the downtown of my biggest city, Marshall City: Nighttime in the mini "Times Square". City Hall in the 1960's. The Marina. The Financial District. Traffic. Hope you like it!

I've never had this problem, but i've heard it takes around 1000 years to get rid of the radiation. If you saved your city after the explosion, I would recommend searching the STEX for some downloads or mods that get rid of radiation. https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=2390 -this lot cleans up radiation from all but a small fraction of your city. There is also a nuclear plant that wont give out any radiation, but I guess it would be too late for that.
  14. Demolishing Airport

I have a small international airport in the downtown of a city and it's right among all the big skyscrapers, and there's no other place to build it. I'm thinking of demolishing it and moving it to a tile which I plan to be countryside (it's just more realistic). Can I do this without having a relapse in Commercial development?
  15. Demolishing Airport

Thanks for your replies. I downloaded the Census Building and will try it out tommorow. I will also look for the custom airport lots. Now all I have to do is get that advisor to shut up!
  16. Demolishing Airport

What if I have a demand mod installed? I conducted a test where I demolished the airport and replaced it with a new commercial zone (with mass-transit, plazas, etc.). My current zones wern't hurt, but the new zone took along time to develop even medium density buildings. Also, that annoying message kept on popping up saying I should put the airport into the city. So, I guess my question is: In the long run, will the effect of the demand mod substitute the effect of the airport?
  17. Show Us Your Suburbs

These are pictures of suburbs from a big metro area i'm working on. There's alot of 'em, so here goes: These are from the rich community of Pacific Heights, which is set on the foothills of a mountain range: These are from Uronda Castle, which, unfortunetly has had some unemployment issues lately: These are from the (mostly suburban) coummunity of Carson Village, known for it's resort and shopping center: The Carson Village Shopping Center: And this one is from the slum community of Northside:
  18. Show us your Ghettos

Wow! My "ghetto" sure isn't as realistic as some others on here, but here it is anyway: All these pictures are from the community of Northside. This is a slum in West Dundee, part of a big metro area i'm still working on. You can see the slum in the top and right of the picture. The ghetto in Northside was intentional, but not this one.
  19. Show us your Midtowns

These are some midtowns from my best city yet: This was orginally supposed to be low density housing (like to the left of the picture), but with the recent boom in commercial development, I zoned medium and high density, and I think it looks good. This is another midtown area, which is comprised of mostly medium-income residents with some low-income as well. Yet another midtown area, this one being a slum. This area was also supposed to be low-density development, but again, a commercial boom made it into a midtown. And finally, one more midtown area.

  21. Ground Light Rail

Well here I am agian with yet another question... I set up sort of a tram system in the downtown of one of my cities using the NAM, and I'm not sure if I set it up right. Will this work?
  22. Ground Light Rail

How do you make a image of a city looking straight down?
  23. Ground Light Rail

Thanks for your help. I got the avenue station and my GLR network is being used beyond capacity. Now for my second question: What is the CAM?
  24. City Growth Problems

I have a problem with one of my cities: It has stopped growing. My city was a boomtown until it got to have about 115,000 and then it just stopped. I considered all the factors, but I can't come up with anything. My city is desirable; it has schools, hospitals, parks the residential, and the demand for all three types (low, medium, high wealth) is sky-high. That is also the case with pretty much all types of commercial and industrial demand, too. I have no idea what's wrong! So anyway, I was serching through the different mods to find one I would like and found a mod titled "opera house fix". I read the information about it and it claimed that the low capacity levels for opera houses could inhibit city growth. I thought about it, and, well, what a coincidence! My city stopped growing about the same time I placed my opera house. I have no idea if it's the opera house or some other thing that's stunting my city's growth, but something sure is. Any ideas?
  25. Ground Light Rail

Thanks for your help. I'm still not sure- is this right? I have one station at one end... The Tramline follows an avenue until it reaches... ...the second station. Do I need more stations, or is that enough?
