As a rule, I always build I-HT in large industrial parks. Plop green space and trees around every zone. You will see some nice development then. One alternative that you might try is to place a single house for each farm, or place small rural communities within your farming areas that have no education within its radius.

This is a chance for all of us to tell eachother about our weirdest or unexplained happenings. My friend Steve and I witnessed a UFO in the summer of my Junior year of high school. We were on the way back from a softball game at night and were driving on the back roads in farm country. We both saw it right away, a large disc shaped object hovering the field to our left, going the speed we were. It had a large pole extending from the center of the disc and on top there was a large strobe light flashing. It followed along with us for a good mile and then disappeared. We backtracked twice but did not see it again. We were supposed to go to a party that night, but instead we both went home, shaken from what we just saw. We are totally convinced it was a UFO!!

This has always been one of the things I thought they should try and include in the game. It would also be cool if there was a lot or park where airshows could take place within the game.

If you are going for a realistic view of your region, its easy to have all three zones in each city tile. I usually have suburbs near small business areas, industrial parks on the edges of forests or rivers. Commercial centers near highrise jungles. In some tiles there might be one factory with 37 residents in the city who work there and at the small diner, and the little colony is surrounded by dense forest. My current region only has about 6 actual tiles with cities within them. The rest are hills, lakes, rivers, forests, etc.

I always try and allocate my forests in a realistic way. I tend to always envelope my industry areas with forests. Does anyone know if this actually helps neutralize pollution in any way? Even within urban areas I try and seperate commercial areas from industrial areas with at least a few tree lines. Just wondering if I am wasting real estate.
