Date:7/4/2004 2:14:07 PM Author:Jetty Jockey Date:7/4/2004 1:12:50 PM Author:smartpig Excellent city, great CJ. Just one question: Why are cars parked on the grass at the Rite Aid? quote> I've been meaning to ask SimGoober the same thing, but I don't want to seem ungrateful for the outstanding BAT work he's produced. Perhaps the growable version comes with parking. I'll have to experiment a bit with it. Until then, us South 'Jersey hicks have no problem parking on grass. quote> I have found this problem with a number of buildings recently.....

Norwich On The Map - Royalty Arrives! Hello to all and welcome to another update (this time a thorough one). Mayor George was pondering on how to expand his city further to the west, in the borough of Oakhill. He thought and thought and just when he was about to give up he received a letter with a royal seal on it! Excited and intrigued, he opened it hastily. It was a personal message from the Queen, who wanted to take up residence in his city! Thrilled by this colossal recognition, he hurriedly went to work........ SOUTH OF THE RIVER HEX..... .....he extended the Pentney area, along the A4. First of all are the suburbs, with Pentney Wood to the north which stretches as far as the river.... Next is the Pentney Services area. Outside the loop road, clockwise are Wegmans Groceries (so Pentney residents don't have to travel too far for a pint of milk), McDonalds, Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn and Imperial Express Petrol Station (x2). Inside the loop along with the car park are Hooters Restaurant (another successful American franchise) and Burger King...... The growth of Pentney's Industrial area.... MALTHOUSE.... ....now we turn our attention to the area around Malthouse Station. High-rise luxury, gimme some of that good livin'..... Next is the Queen Elizabeth II University, which has 2,600 students. Opened by Her Majesty, it is the first in a number of buildings that show Norwich's dedication to a world-class education system.... Royal Dramatic College (3,000 students). Romeo, Romeo, where for art thou Romeo?..... . Ancient History Museum. It holds more than 800 exhibits, including relics from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Mesopotamia. A tourist attraction in it's own right.... The Royal Literature Society, which holds some 216,000 items, including original transcripts of some of the literary classics throughout the ages.... Oakhill's central area, along the A5..... This is New York Square. The central obelisk is a tribute to the tens of thousands of members of The Royal Navy who have died in history's many battles. The Norwich Tourist Board's journal jokingly reads Folks flock to feed the pigeons!, but in reality this is an extremely busy part of Oakhill. The New York Square Station (not visible here but is in extreme top-left of previous picture) has approximately 32,000 travellers passing through daily.... THE QUEEN'S NEW RESIDENCE...... And now for the third jewel in Norwich's crown (Olympic Stadium and World Trade Centre being the others). Gresham Palace and it's grounds cost approximately

Wow, what a coincidence! Koblenz is twinned with Norwich, where I live and I have named my CJ. AND, I have just named a station in my city Koblenz Station! Looks beautiful, can't wait to see how this one takes shape. Good luck!

Just a quickie....... Hi guys I'm back with a very brief update for you. Time has not been on my side the past couple of days hence the limited progress. I have been expanding the borough of Kelseyheath, to the south of Central Norwich, by adding some medium residential and commercial areas. The first picture here is of the Heartsease area. An overhead view allowing you all to familiarise yourselves with it's location. The A2 comes in from Central Norwich and runs east into Deptwich. Branching from this main trunk road are the A20 (South) and A200 (West, towards CBD and links with A3). Mainly medium residential and commercial area with and expanded industrial estate to the north.... Next here is Heartsease shopping centre. A wonderful, busy pedestrianised area with hundreds of visitors looking for diversified shopping experience together with the relaxation provided by the sound of trickling water from the beautiful fountains across the street (and maybe a cheeky burger next door).... And finally here is an aerial shot of the new residences close to the thriving Kingsway Station business district, ensuring that the immaculate Kelsey Heath is surrounded...... Nice start, very idyllic setting and interesting story. Is that a pedestrian bridge over the water between the two towers? Does it work? (ie. do sims walk across it) Can I get it from anywhere?

Date:7/1/2004 4:11:41 PM Author:chunkymon24490 Nice City- like the Station. Idk what a solution would be, but alot of thes CJs are very gd, but all quite the same. (Not directed at you in any way). I just think every city needs a bit of individuality. Smirks cities are often skyscraper seas which is different, and some are full of parks. I just think the big skyscraper thing gets a bit u know. This city tho does have that very 'different' station which I kinda like, but I dont think I'd have it. quote> Yeah I understand what you're saying but I just find it difficult to vary the look of my cities too much. It must just be my playing style, I guess. I think the game itself also limits us to a certain extent, because even with loads of downloaded files from the exchanges mostly the same ones pop up, making it very repetitive. In, fact, if it wasn't for the outstanding quality of the lots/BATs that are on the exchange, I probably would've grown bored with the game by now. It would be great if they could find a way around this but they can't make it much more diverse because most computers out there probably wouldn't be able to handle the extra workload. It's a puzzler, I certainly don't have any answers for it. Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.

Date:7/1/2004 2:47:24 PM Author:Dannato Your region has come a long way since the fist time I checked your CJ out, some really huge high-density areas and well chosen city layout. I also like your 'courage' building those vast lawns. If I lived in your region, I guess it would be one of those Lexington Homes in Chapel Green Estates in Clarendon (if affordable). Great use of custom lots, by the way, what lot is the Constable Gallery? quote> Ooh, dunno that'll set you back a few quid!!! I'll reserve one for you. Thanks for the comments, re the Constable Gallery, search in the Exchange. It's Art Museum, by jule 78. And it's a fine lot, I love it.

Date:7/1/2004 10:55:51 AM Author:uncrazycooper13 This is one of the best cj's I've ever seen! Keep it up!. One suggestion though. You might want to sort of connect the borders some more because right now it looks sort of 'patchy in the regional view. Other then that, keep it up!!! -uncrazycooperquote> Yep, know exactly what you're saying and I agree. Will work on it soon. Thanks for the comments.

This is fantastic. I'm gonna have to get the dark water modd. I hope my CJ is still alive to hit 20 pages long! Maybe you could have a look, if you get time, and give me one or two suggestions? A

Tonight's Football Yes, it's the opening round of matches in the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District. At the Olympic Stadium, giants Norwich City were up against one of the lesser teams in the competition, Bradwell. In a surprisingly closely-fought encounter, the Canaries ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Darren Huckerby's second-half winner...... Meanwhile, in Clarendon, Salham from Kelseyheath were thumped convincingly 4-1 by a strong Clarendon Athletic..... The league table tonight..... Norwich Grows Powerful - Deptwich Adds It's Weight Hello my friends and welcome to the latest update to my first City Journal - Norwich. Mayor George is watching in delight as his brainchild eats up more open, barren land to create a bustling metropolis. This is the story of Deptwich's rise. Our first picture here is the A102(M) coming in from Maidenwell in the north. Also in view here are H.M. Prison Deptwich (on the northern edge, next to the electric power station), and the South Hackton roundabout (or squareabout), where the A102(M)'s traffic is diverted east and west along the A2. Mayor George has decided that as the education level in Norwich is of such a high standard, he wants to attract top scientists in a variety of different fields. Therefore, he decided to build the Museum of Space Exploration...... ......and the Deptwich Observatory. Raised on an artificial hill the observatory holds the world's most powerful telescope, attract a large number of tourists as well as the world's top stargazers..... The nearby South Hackton residential area (under development).... Due to Mayor George's business-friendly taxation policies, everywhere in Norwich is home for big business.... The Lawrence Library. Named after author, poet and playwright D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930), it is unique in holding original versions of such classics as Lady Chatterley's Lover and Sons and Lovers. The choice of architecture has been criticised, but Mayor George is adamant that history and the present should go hand-in-hand. A must-see attraction for tourists and residents alike.... The Royal College Of Music set in suburban apartment buildings.... Deptwich University and Sportspark. The various attractions have pleased folks of all ages. Also in view is Koblenz Station, named after Koblenz, Germany, one of Norwich's twin cities. The others, which also have railway station named after them, are Rouen (France) and Novi Sad (Voydovina, Yugoslavia)......... A birds-eye view of Deptwich. Just in shot are Queen Victoria Reservoir and Prince Albert Reservoir, side-by-side, as Britain's greatest royal couple were in life...... Latest economic data (after 10 years).... Population: 237,233 Funds:

Coming soon....... ....to a screen near you (ie. the one you're looking at); The Simtropolis Football League Norwich District. What's the use in those beautiful football stadiums if there's no matches to enjoy? The founder members of the district league, namely Bradwell, Clarendon Athletic, Norwich City, Norwich United and Salham will soon battle-it-out for glory......

It's a great idea and well executed so far but I think you will need to introduce commerce throughout the city, otherwise it makes it difficult to fully develop residential areas.

You're certainly up to date on the LEX, Rite Aid has only just arrived! Great terrain I like the creeks around the lakes very nice. A

Date:6/28/2004 7:44:10 PM Author:tHe Dark_Child Norwhich is looking better. That park looks nice but it needs some lakes but hey, it does look perfect for a summer concert.quote> Damn! I meant to put one in but got sidetracked before doing it. Thanks for the comments again.

If you're having trouble with the island idea hows about building your airport on the hill where that avenue cuts diagonally towards the town. That would be closer to the centre of Victoria also. I like airports built on hills, London Luton is one example. Just a suggestion.
