Date:9/7/2004 6:22:20 PM Author:dscampbell Ok besides the so accurately recreated dutch landscapes, the story is what makes this cj so damn good!!! I love the story! It's the best CJ for that reason alone! I can't wait to see what happens next. So please please PLEEEEEEAAAASE dont be like all those bloody dutch tv channels and get ppls favourite sci-fi show off the air midway of a series! quote> Well said, dscampbell! I can't pretend to know anything about Dutch sci-fi series', but I DO know that this in a very intriguing and entertaining CJ. Utora, it's difficult to stay motivated all the time - I can't really be bothered to do much with Norwich at the moment. There are always people who just like to look at pictures, people who like to read, people who do both, people who like to get involved & comment and so on, and these folks will do what they want to do. It seems to me that you have a nucleus of hardcore fans (of which I am one, as you well know) who would fall and cry if you stopped New Holland. The CJ looks as if YOU enjoy it very much - the level of detail in building style and story is evidence of that - and, after all, surely that's the most important thing? So, with that in mind, when's the next update? A

Good work Dave!! A
-
This looks like Star Wars or something! Good job you got that Army base in place - you might need it.........! Nice update, again. A
-
What a great update - I'm lovin' that army base! A

Thanx kbooms1w - I'd love for the Bernabeu to spring up in Norwich......! Footie - we have had a tough start to the season - next three are Spurs away, Villa home, and Liverpool away........easy! I think if I was a bookie I'd stop accepting bets on Arsenal to win the title - they are miles ahead of everyone - Chelski included. Thanks for visiting! A

Many thanks Subedei! A

Well, I feel an urge to hire a boat out, take it on Jenkins Sound and just chill....... A
-
Love the region views - and that's a LOT of buses. I thought I held the record for number of buses in a CJ, now I know I don't even have that honour..... Great work! A

Mandursuro: a ChicAgo333 city journal
andrew george replied to ChicAgo333's topic in SC4 City Journals
Ok, well I started typing this reply on Saturday then my internet went down - again. So I will say what I meant to then, (before I run out of time) and first say (while hoping it's not too out of date) congrats on reaching those three milestones!!!!!! Update of 3rd September - James Morgenn Center - I see a really precarious place for playing tennis...... I love this - it's really superb. The guys are right about your night shots. With them looking so good, I bet you never play with it on daytime.......!!!! Pat on back and bunnies for you! Keep it up! A -
Hello guys many thanks for the kind comments! My apologies for not replying sooner but I've been having horrendous problems with my internet connection! It's been very frustrating recently. Utora - water inlets: I planned them to look the way they did before building, but I didn't plan them to have the function they do now. I modelled the region loosely on central London - River Hex is similarly-shaped to River Thames and the inlets of which you speak are modelled on and area around the docklands. If you check a map you may see what I mean. I wanted to use these areas as an inner-city port and industrial wasteland, which could then be left to rot for a while before being regenerated, the way in which the real London Docklands has: www.london-docklands.co.uk I created them in god-mode zoomed in really close and levelled the edges really carefully. Although, as you see with the water flora mod - I didn't quite flatten the beds as well!!!!!! I would be chuffed to see Matt's creations elsewhere - it was only after he started doing them that I realised how much they add to a CJ - and I certainly wouldn't want a great journal like yours to miss out. I would LOVE to see Amsterdam Arena on the STEX - or any other exchange - but I would especially love to see Carrow Road, home of Norwich City (see link in sig) on there. If I get clever one day and have time to work out the BAT, I may try it. I would also love to see other great stadiums like Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu, San Siro in Milan, Rome Stadio Olimpico, Olympiastadion Munich, and Nou Camp in Barcelona. So, to all you BAT-ters out there...... Finally, specs - mine are not close to yours - I have Athlon or Duron (can't remember which) 1800, 512 Mb DDR RAM, not sure about the rest! So, you could probably make a region the size of the real Holland if you wanted......! Thanks for visiting. Matt - I like to spring surprises every now and then, keeps things interesting...... I probably get so much traffic because Maidenwell has about 480,000 population and only thin strips of land to commute. Also, about 20,000+ jobs in the other two buildings on Corporation Wharf. But, I think that stairway gives your HQ pride of place - remember: quality, not quantity. Re my power situation, I have made a simple little spreadsheet to ensure I don't get cataclysmic power failures...... GingerBlokey - it's good to see you again in Norwich - all the way from Great Yarmouth!!!! Matt is in sole charge of highway signs, only he knows his secrets....... Hope to see you here soon! ChicAgo333 - Thanks! Those NDEX buildings are first class...... Dark Avatar - I kind of have a loose plan but just build whatever the wind carries me too, so to speak. I'm glad you like it, although I am beginning to feel that it's losing some of it's European-like design. nooneatall - With all these other people demanding Matt's services and him being based in Norwich, maybe I'm due a small commission fee for each sign he makes outside Norwich. What do you think? Thanks to all for your kind words - very much appreciated!!!!!! A EDIT: 600th post!!!!! Now I just need someone to get me onto page 10 and I would be so proud!!!!!

News At Ten Good evening everyone and welcome to News At Ten. On tonight's news: CONRIP have completed one of their major projects - in the heart of the docklands............. Norwich Power have expanded their operation to provide power to the borough of Maidenwell............. And we hear from Mayor George, as Norwich hits a population of 3 million people........... Ok, first our cameramen took the opportunity to capture the image of the industrial area just south of Great Western Dock, as the bulldozers moved in.... And now the completed project. After enormous investment by both the City and it's three chief resident companies - Corporation Wharf is seen here in early evening. Packed with traffic - it's centrepiece is a statue of Mr C. Onman, chairman of CONRIP. Along with the fountains and it's surrounding water feature - Corporation Wharf makes an inspirational sight for young and veteran executives alike....... The buildings of Corporation Wharf: The dark building here is the Head Office of Norwich Union Plc. Everything from home to motor insurance products, life insurance and pensions, stocks, shares and bonds. Norwich Union offers a complete package to take comprehensive care of your financial needs...... This building here is the Norwich Corporate Banking HQ. This is the place where the world's banking and finance wizards count the beans, of not only major banks and corporations but other nations and governments........ This building, with it's marble stairway out front belongs to M.C. Highways Corporation - the company responsible for the upkeep of all of Norwich's highways and the creation of it's roadsigns......... The plush M.C. Highways Corporation......... Corporation Wharf...... Docklands - redeveloped......... So, the docklands grows ever more impressive. Now, we move on to Norwich Power. It was agreed that they would now cover Maidenwell's power requirements, thus releasing space in the borough for redevelopment. Maidenwell Council calculated that the borough uses about 75,000 MWh (Megawatts per hour). So, to cover this additional pressure, they have built electrical generators 5 and 6....... As a result, the two existing power plants in Maidenwell have been removed, and the areas have been re-used. One was in the docklands, near to where Corporation Wharf is now. At the other site, Riverside Zoo has arrived........ H.M. Prison Maidenwell (in docklands) has been demolished and a new facility located by the Blackwater Tunnel Southern Approach (M130)......... These changes, as we see here, have resulted in lower power wastage...... Now, we speak to Mayor George in an exclusive interview. There is a great deal of rejoicing tonight at Norwich City Hall, as it was announced that Norwich has reached 3 million residents. It's a dream come true, Mayor George said. To think that this was once just a wild notion - a utopian idea, now to actually see it grow in the flesh is an amazing rush of emotion. The best feeling imaginable. Mayor George was also keen to highlight the impact the support of his advisors: The help and advice offered at every step has been crucial to the project's success thus far, and, of course, the practical assistance offered by Mattc005 and his company, M.C. Highways Corporation, who has helped take Norwich to the next level of transportation and presentation. However, despite being clearly delighted by today's events, the Mayor refused to get carried away, and is under absolutely no illusions about what lies ahead. We'll have our party tonight, maybe have a day off then it's straight back to work. There is a lot of hard work ahead of us. The Ring Road project is in full swing and entering it's final phases, and we are working closely with CONRIP to find ways in which to bring more tourism to the city. One project in particular is in it's final planning phase and we hope to unveil it VERY soon. Of course, the city will continue to grow outward - there is still an awful lot of open space beyond our current city limits free for us to put to good use! Well, that's all for now from the beautiful city of Norwich. Have a wonderful evening. Thank you, and goodnight.

Date:9/2/2004 5:00:16 PM Author:freakpower I've always liked this city, but I haven't commented. Perhaps because I'm used to lurking (I visit a lot of forums I only read). I like this city perhaps mostly because it has a fairly realistic scale to it, as far it's possible in simcity; 12x12km for 3 million people isn't too unfeasible, at least not with simcity - what with it's 72 people in a 2 (or is it 3 floor?) floor, 16x16m apartment. Thumbs up!quote> Thanks for commenting - I'm glad you like Norwich enough to prompt you to do so!!! The introduction of the ring road and suburbs with it have meant a more realistic city in terms of population/square mile or kilometre (whichever you prefer). I do try to go for realism wherever possible (ie. restaint in use of highways in central areas, as this is something not often seen in UK cities because of their age) Thanks again! A

Hey that's a really cool site you've made there for your mass transit - only problem is I couldn't get to the maps yet. Oh well, in time....... A

Beautiful work on that storm update............. A
-
Yes, I think it is. Or possibly only slight variances - like Moscow and North Moscow or Upper Moscow, for example..... A
-
Wow, that's some nice pollution on Siljonostrov! Also, great use of Tower Of London and Stonehenge on the island. I love the unique feel of your CJ, I think it's the place names that do it. Fine work! A

This looks great David! Congratulations on reaching 750k!!! A
